  1. sounds more like a vague geocache hint
  2. You might want to try the French forum here.
  3. I have my forum settings set to watch every topic that I post to. For some reason though, nothing is appearing anymore in my watched content tab. It worked correctly until a few weeks ago. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Thanks for the help!
  4. I might also add that the intro app should include being able to view logs other than "Found it!" and "DNF". Certain very important information can be found in those.
  5. I feel the same... Apparently the flagship update for this release is still in the works??(According to Moun10bike) And yes, perhaps they've learned and no one wants to take the heat after the last couple updates?
  6. Really? I've recently gotten two blank logs on one of my caches.GC4WV0F
  7. That's for the like 100 accounts I have seen over the years with Pirate based usernames, who talk like a Pirate in their cache logs. So apparently in a future release, the app will convert your log to Pirate talk. Which of course is useless, because no one has ever posted a log longer than 3 words via the intro app. What are you talking about? "That's one more find for me! Thanks so much for hiding this geocache." is 13 words! 14 if you expand the contraction! Heck, even "I found this geocache using the Geocaching Intro App. TFTC!" is 9 and an acronym! Apparently, the "that's one more find for me" text is long gone, although they've never announced it publicly. Oh Snap! That's gone?? Now no one will understand my signature! Is there still a cut-and-paste log for the intro app?

    Note for reviewer

When I first saw that I had to write a note, I used it to ask my review "Why do I have to write a reviewer note if there's nothing important to say?" He answered that I didn't.
  9. To my knowledge, those rules about logos and such actually only apply to what's online. You can stick a big logo on a cache box. You can put coupons to a business in. You own the geocache. Do with it what you wish. Just don't put in within a business. I would like to hear other input though, as I could be completely mistaken.
  10. Why? Can't you do it in the paid app? If so, then that's the point-limited functionality to encourage users to buy the app. And what's wrong with visiting the website to do it? Simply put, some users don't want to pay $10 for the full app. (I know a couple people.) SNIP Though I'm not disagreeing with you. I'd just like to see how this idea is seen. OH. Some people don't want to pay? That changes everything.... By that logic the full app, and the premium membership should be free as well. I should have added one word: "Reasonably" I find it very reasonable for a person to not want to pay 10 bucks for a smartphone app, and even then still not have premium geocaching membership. Regardless though, I was actually figuring that this addition would help the hobby more so than the individual.
  11. Why? Can't you do it in the paid app? If so, then that's the point-limited functionality to encourage users to buy the app. And what's wrong with visiting the website to do it? Simply put, some users don't want to pay $10 for the full app. (I know a couple people.) Also, I have been the first to inform some intro app users that you actually CAN log things from a website. Silly little cachers. Though I'm not disagreeing with you. I'd just like to see how this idea is seen.
  12. Pretty simple: Right now, only "Found It" and "DNF" logs can be made from the intro app. There are several benefits, for example: Sometimes "Found it" type logs are used when they shouldn't be. Adding the option to write a note on the intro app could help fix this problem. Just a though. What does everyone think?
  13. I remember before the current homepage, they had a rather different one. (I liked it better actually, but thats just me) It didn't have news, but it had recent logs. here it is. Ah! Here we go! This older one from 2005 kind of has what you're looking for.
  14. So yes, Groundspeak claiming copyright would be wrong. Maybe with "© 2000-@DateTime.Now.Year Geocaching" they mean something like the copyright is held by "someone at Geocaching", in that case that would be the user. But yeah don't think that's legally correct, as "Geocaching" is not an entity.. I'm surprised with how much they seem to love working with HTML that they haven't fixed this yet! But yeah, we'd have a serious problem if GS started to claim that they "owned" geocaching.
  15. Not necessarily. I found a cache last winter that was hidden my a CO who hadn't logged into the site in 7months, and hadn't found/hid a cache in two years. It was the middle of winter and the container was shattered. I logged a Needs Maintenance, and the next day he had fixed it and logged it online. I'll admit, I was impressed.
  16. The map shouldn't be a .exe format...I'm not sure what you have...
  17. Hmm, a little problem at the server end, and another little gaffe that somehow got past QA. ("QA"?!?) ...and it can't be copyright by "Geocaching", that's not an entity. Groundspeak would be the entity. ...and they didn't write the log text, so how can they claim copyright on that? The comedy continues... That would be a serious problem if they began to claim that they "owned" geocaching.
  18. Yup it will route like a car gps (Settings→Routing→Car/Motorcycle). Be advised the unit will not "talk" it can only "beep" and the screen is pretty small for automotive navigation. You also will have to load a routable map, such as the openstreetmap mentioned above.
  19. Interesting discussion, but the above is not strictly an accurate assessment of the situation. Groundspeak only hosts a listing of some coordinates along with a description of a place and/or object. That means that Groundspeak could *only* give away/adopt to another user that listing - some coords and some words on a web page. Sure, if the original CO wanted to go out and take their 10+ year old weathered tupperware back they could, but chances are they are long gone, maybe dead, who knows. But then it is an entirely different cache, so what's the points of keeping the same cache page?
  20. There is a way to search for caches that (are suppose to) contain trackables. Do a pocket query and check that box that says "and contains trackables" (or something along those lines). You can also just do a regular search and look for the icons that are for travel bugs/geocoins.
  21. I know some virtual owners that don't respond. They just check to see if you've send them the email when you log it.
  22. I would imagine the majority of folks at Coca-Cola HQ in Atlanta thought New Coke would be a swell idea too. Until it was pointed out that it wasn't. Those employees were also all bright folks who I assume had previous experience drinking Coke. But then they quickly fixed their mistake.
  23. I have an eTrex 20 and love it. It's a garmin, so it would involve getting used to the new interface, but it's a great little unit and is only $168 on amazon.
  24. The $10 dollar app and the $30/year membership are completely separate things. One does not give you the other. Unfortunately, I don't use the full app, so I can't comment on that.
