  1. As a newbie I have just realised that even waterproof boxes do not prevent the contents from becoming soggy, no doubt due to condensation. For the usual plastic giveaways, no problem, but the log book is the problem. Even contained in it's own ziplock, still getting soggy. I'm confident the old hands here will have a simple solution...please.
  2. If a TB is lost or assumed lost, can it be used to sort of start again? I inadvertently attached the copy tag to one of my "girls" who is now out and about, seemingly OK..why not? Generally what is the purpose of the copy, excepting a record of the number?
  3. I think burying it would be good, but I believe a no-no in rules.
  4. Yes use smileys...I don't like it when people question my Ph.D in "The Irrigation of the common cabbage with Holy Water" From U. of Nakon Nowhere, against some geek fro M.I.T
  5. yes they are travelling and have logged a dnf, and not responded to emails...are people so dozy that they log a dnf that was 2 metres from the road and is still there and not log important info?
  6. Is this prevalent.?.a cacher takes 3 TB's from a cache and logs a note only, no pickups The bugs are still listed and cache finders are asking wassup ? Emails to the initial finder are ignored...do they just keep them as trophies..if so why not just steal them without logging the info. Is there a record of greatest distance travelled by a TB, I'm too old to pay the Russians for a trip in space, but there must be a market for TB's
  7. Thailand...seen cobras and some bright green whatever. Can they penetrate ten thou steel ?
  8. Unable to finish a meal at a neighbours, I asked them to wrap it for the bum..."That's GOOD food !!!", I was admonished.
  9. I'd like to see Garmin 60CS ignore points on a route until it has reached those prior, currently where routes overlap/run close, u have to create umpteen individual routes, and what is the distance/criteria for knowing when interference will occur? Be a good idea to provide a wrist strap that does not slice through the plastic. Anyone got an idea for a repair?
  10. I've been saving .gpx files all the time...it's a dropdown menu
  11. It wasn't the number, it was my mate who was bitten. R.I.P
  12. I am the ultralight ultralight I carry NOTHING, my bearers are quite capable of carrying everything, from my GPSr to my tin bath, silver service and selection from my cellar. I am not averse to being carried myself as long as they stay in step.
  13. including the garbage and rubbish not worth naming it a geocache. There goes a beautiful hobby down the drain... OK I'll sit at home and sulk.
  14. I see there's 4.06 Beta Upgrade with the appropriate warnings. 1, Anyone tried it with what what results? 2, What is the upgrade ? 3. If it is uploaded, can it be replaced by the original ?
  15. Can contact them but don't hold one's breath waiting for an answer..has anyone ever had a reply?
  16. My alter ego and I (see "is it ethical?), welcome any and every cache and will hunt them down rejoicing..you guys are spoilt. I/We are reduced to geodashing..but that's OK..so far..oh for the day there's only one of us and he is whingeing about quality.
  17. I always wear shorts..don't have any longs, and am frequently wading alone thro' vegetation in the Tropics. I can't carry a heavy pair of canvas trousers, (cycling)..any ideas please. I have seen quite a few cobras crossing tracks, but it's the one's I don't see that worry me.
  18. I guess this question should/could be addressed by one of the "Agony Aunts" who pontificate on the inconsequential
  19. I have been thro' the manual, and want to negate the ability to tell me that I've Arrived..when I know I haven't, 'cos obviously my accuracy/Cache co-ords accuracy are ???? Once it decides I'm there it wants me to enter Find..I just want to keep looking. BTW I would think that someone from Garmin and other GPSr makers would monitor these threads to give advice from the horses mouth.
  20. Must agree, as a cyclist I would have many accidents while trying to make sense of the 60CS compass' erratic behaviour, my 1$ bell/compass is the answer, only needs a glance. On foot i have a sylva knock off 3$, I'd buy the real one but can't get them here.
  21. TVM..I had thought to do that, make a series of routes, but needed to confirm that it was not only my problem, thanks again
  22. I have set some routes using waypoints with Mapsource and there are times when the same waypoint occurs more than once in a route, as the route may backtrack, and may also be very close (20m) to another waypont when moving parallel.. I have looked at the proximity settings and don't see anything too significant there. What seems to be happening is that as the route proceeds from waypoint to waypoint it seems to jump across the next listed to a nearby wpt not immediately next. As I'm a noobie and working in 110 deg F, I am having problems, especially as the compass page (calibrated OK) seems to have an erratic behavior, despite setting it for very slow speed and keeping it level. Has the heat fried my brain ? or is there a problem with this route/waypoint thingy ?
