  1. Looks a little like a way to up someones numbers. The caches and there location make up the history of the sport and its evolution, caches must remain as long as the are viable, if you really want go back and revisit the cache and just log a note or do you really need another smiley
  2. It worked great for me loaded first try in my colorado Thanks a lot loking forward to using the new maps
  3. Yes Yes Yes at first we kept bring our 60 along with us but lately we really enjoy the Colorado its very reliable on we have not had any problems with it ( knock on wood)
  4. Yes I have had mine about 3 weeks and just love it the ease of use is unbelievable the added memory and being able to access the entire cache page is wonderful . I had to purchase new map software but it was well worth it as it is much clearer than my 60 CSX. It is every bit as accurate as my old unit the only thing missing is averaging a new waypoint but that should be a easy fix down the road
  5. I owned a mapsource city select North America V7 which I used in my 60CSX can I now load it in my 300 or do I need to purchase a new version, I have tried but so far unsuccesful in my attempted unit unable to unlock maps
  6. Why don't you just renew your membership ? That would fix it >
  7. Ok we just got a delete log on a cache we found In Florida Owner has posted the following note LOG DELETION NOTICE: If your log was recently deleted and you are wondering why, please read the following. Someone placed there own cache at this location after they could not find the real one. It was a medicine bottle zip tied to a nearby tree. This was not the real cache. The real cache is still there! To be fair to those that found the real cache we have deleted the logs of those who found the 'other' cache. Hate to do it folks but have to be fair to those got the right one. Please be sure to write a cache owner if you ever need to replace a cache. Just because your cache has been compromised we in good faith found a cache with a log book although lame we sign and carried on. There was little description of what we should be looking for Now we traveled a long way we exchanged TB/coins do you think the owner should delete our log we should have the right to decide how to log our visit Just throwing it out there a e-mail explaining what happened would be a good starting point Thanks Brain
  8. I was hoping they get the firmware problems solved soon before we head to geowoodstock in California
  9. When checking some past caches I was shocked to find this log September 14 by We touched it who cares if we lost it (2590 found) Whatevertheysay and I came here to go P but I dropped the package before we could sign the log. I went down to look where it may have landed but had no luck. Bill and Laurie came down and helped me search but that is when we all got wet....literally! The sprinklers went off!!! Thanks to me the cache is now missing but I'll replace it soon. Sorry about that! [view this log on a separate page] September 14 by Whatevertheysay (615 found) We teamed up with Wetoucheditwhocaresifwelostit and Touched to grab a couple of caches nearby and decided to add this one to our list. You know how Murphy’s Law states that anything that CAN go wrong WILL go wrong? Murphy must have been a geocacher... Randy found this one in record-time - what a creative hiding place!! Hubby and I were on our way to GZ when we heard something say, "cache me if you can!"[} So we searched where we thought it ended up - too bad we had to leave Thunder in the car - he probably would’ve sniffed it out in no time! We’d been looking for a few minutes, flashlights in hand, when we heard the distinctive “pfft-pfft-pfft” of lawn sprinklers - time to bail out!! We’re logging our find, will sign when cache is retrieved! Thanks for taking our caching experiences to a whole new level, spyder1! [This entry was edited by wewilldo7 on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 7:28:58 AM.] [view this log on a separate page] some people will do anything for a smiley
  10. It was hard to follow what you wrote, but I agree that people should sign the logbook. I would have logged it after I replaced it and signed the log. Chalk it up to newbie enthusiasm. GCHJHW Read the log Cacher had over 2000 finds {or did they}I mean write a note go home replace cache then log your smiley but come on you lost a cache and you want credit even though you never did sign the log !!!!!
  11. Just visiting from Vancouver checking out some of the caches GCHJHW I visited I noticed this caches strange log.Heres there log what do you all think seems that they didn't log a cache but they want a smiley and I came here to go P but I dropped the package before we could sign the log. I went down to look where it may have landed but had no luck. Bill and Laurie came down and helped me search but that is when we all got wet....literally! The sprinklers went off!!! Thanks to me the cache is now missing but I'll replace it soon. Sorry about that! If you lost a cache how do you get a smiley not sure how that works???
  12. Just reading the logs from one of my caches I thought I'd share this one .Can any one top this one. Long Story Short, I flew in from California for a business conference so I had 3 bugs to drop, my first try was when I ran out on the conference during a slow spot, ran the .4 miles to the closest cache and found it was a micro, not good for dropping bugs, guess I should have researched more first. Then we got out early, but had to meet again in an hour at a local tavern. Got a ride to the hotel, changed and ran over to the bar and told them, I had a short errand to run.... Took another taxi, the driver asked where to, well ummmm, I have a GPS, just drive and I will tell you where to turn... Huh?, took several minutes to explain what I was doing and he finally bought in on it. Got close to the cache, I could see the spot, but we were stuck in traffic. I threw him 40 bucks and then pointed to where I was headed, told him to meet me up there and wait for me. I then dashed out of the cab, and ran across the street, people must have thought I was trying to ditch the taxi and skip out on the fare. I got to the cache, easy find, my driver showed up so I took my cache to the taxi to sign the log and deposit my TB's. Re-hid the cache, jumped in the cab and back to the tavern I was in less than 20 minutes.... Got out and noticed.. My cell phone was no longer on my hip.... HEY DRIVER, we got to go back...... Back we went, this time a different route to by-pass traffic... got to the cache again, looked around and finally found my run away phone...back in the cab, back to the tavern... paid my taxi bill, $30.00 plus tip and in the tavern I ran, ready for some good old Canadian brew..... All in a days work when caching a new area... A great thanks to my son Billy who gave me the first of the three TB's to drop in Canada, plus got me into the game in the first place...without you, I would never have had so much fun.... Dropped the three bugs plus a couple trinkets...
  13. The Best cache other than The Ape cache was GCZ1C3 not sure how to post a link but this was by far the greatest cache we have done to date well worth the trip to Vancouver to find this one . We did it as a group in small groups of 3 and 4 it was fantastic http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...c3-224eb850aa28
  14. We traveled down to Washington State this weekend with a group of cachers to do Mission 9 Ape Cache. It was a great experience. Our best cache ever! Have you done an Ape Cache and how was the experience? Are they all this good?
  15. If my wife is out then I'm in charge, unless the phone rings then its for the kids. Thats why I go out at all hours looking for tupperware, right Yes I'm important if I wasn't around who'd they make fun of
  16. What if you are a premium member and get the emails before everyone else? Does your FTF mean less than the person that is not a premium member or are you cheating? Pinky
  17. I 've tried Honey even tried but for some reason we can't place our GC stata on our profile page can someone send me the link for some reason I can't even search for it Thanks
  18. I was the cacher who violated the Quota at the bug hotel. It was not done with malice. The wife and I are going Stateside this weekend and I was in the neighbourhood and wanted to drop of a Canadian geocoin. As I knew I could move some bugs I took them. The cache in question is well located and seems to have good movement. It appears that the majority of the caching community does not approve of so called "Quotas"or anything that restricts the movement of a Travelbug. Its good that we have these Forums so we can talk about these things in the open. I hope there are no hard feelings as my intentions were for the movement of the travelbugs. msthebrain and Pinky
  19. Its not easy. On really warm, sunny days I've left the logbook out in the sun while we stopped for lunch, but in the end, its up to the owner to provide an appropriate container for the area. Its not that hard. Try using Write in the ran paper available at most building supply or consruction stores have also seen at milatary surplus stores nothing worse than looking for a tricky cache only to find a log that is to wet to sign
  20. Today I revisited a TB Hotel to place a geocoin and see what was new in town. I removed 4 TBs to move them along. I got a email from the owner, mad that i had depleted his Hotel Quota! I replied to his email that i was only interested in moving the TBs along and not worried about his quota being filled. Is moving the TBs along more important than hotels keeping it quotas? All TBs will be placed in the next few days so iam not trying to hog them. I would'nt want my TBs sitting in a hotel. What do you think about this? http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...df-e65aced6104d
  21. Everyone can play this game anyway they want. After reading many opionions I've made up my mind that if I find a cache with a travel bug I will take it and move asap unless I.ve already logged the bug . I will not "Grope" bugs or coins in the wild . At events I will only log TB's or coins if I have a TB or coin to trade with that cacher . I will not log out of photo albums . Venting a bug may be good for the owner to see its ok but seems kind of lazy just grab it and move it . TB hotels should be visited often by all local cacher with the intent on moving bugs, try to place bugs in newer caches it tends to be visited more often giving the bug a better chance of moving.
  22. I appreciate the feedback, I was hoping not to say anything because in truth, I agree with you. I'm sure the mistake was well meaning by what I would consider another new cacher, but hopefully the issue will sort itself out. If when looking at TB logs I notice the Number published I then check the profile of the poster if its a newbie I will email them and explain that TB's can get Hijacked and ask if the can edit there log . If it looks like a old hand at the game I leave it to each there own they might have a good reason . The couple of times I've email the response was positive .Knowledge needs to be passed along and not everyone has read all the Forums
  23. Is it a comman practice to log coins and tb's from events even if you didn't touch or see them do cacher's log tb's Just because the were given the number . Is the same thing done with Jeeps . My rule is it must at least have been in my hand before I log it .What do you think , at the last event I had the only yellow jeep but the number seems to have been passed around even though only a few came over to look and ask to log it Just wondering how you all play the Game???
  24. How long are you planning on staying ? Are you going right down town or are you staying out of town a bit ?Parking lots or great view long Hikes? If you can narrow down what you are looking for I be happy to point you in a direction
