  2. Yes, I entered 5000 and instantly became number one. But, never mind. Ignore this. I already removed my stats there. I wrote this hours ago, but it just popped up here now. I'm already over it. 3. Go here and tell me if you can spot the problem. If I can do that, then this site is completely useless. Since the stats have gone from here, I have changed my style completely. They just don't matter to me as much in my daily caching anymore. Ever notice how anyone that caches more than you do is a maniac, while anyone that caches less than you do is an idiot? -Dru Morgan
  4. I am glad you put the checkbox for 'found/own' on there. Very nice to separate those from the ones you still are hunting. But, when you uncheck that, rather than merely removing the red check and making them look like all other caches, how about removing the cache icon entirely. In other words, if you uncheck the 'found/own' box, you will get a map with only the ones you need displayed on it. For those of us in cache dense areas, this would make the map a lot easier to read. As we find them, we essentially clean the map up and very easily see where we need to go. I mean look at some people's maps uploaded to the forum, it is essentially just a jumble of color if there are too many finds in one area. 7. Well, I am in the process of moving careers. I currently sit in a classroom teaching web design, and get to cache in the afternoons if there is still light, or on the weekends. I will be working soon for a financial services company, and doing more client consulting type work, teaching people how to meet their financial goals. Even though, I will probably be working more hours, I will be driving around to meet people on their schedule. So, that means if I have a 4PM appointment, at 3PM, I will be caching. Whoo-hoo. Now, if I get clients that live in places I want to cache, I can write the whole trip off. Oh, yeah! 9. Well, I just participated in the first Southern California corporate geocaching event. This was put on by the same people you see the link for on the front page of this site. They emailed a bunch of us local cachers last week and asked if we wanted to participate. Basically, we (the professional geocachers (I can say professional, as we got paid)) were each assigned to a team. This event was sponsored by Wired Magazine as a perk to their advertisers. Each team was a group of people working at each of the various ad agencies. My team was the ad agency for Nissan Motors. They (PlayTime) set up 20 caches around the area of the Santa Monica Pier within about a mile radius. They included many traditional caches, a couple of multis, micros, and even a few 'moving' caches that involved the Rino units from Garmin. We had a map printed with waypoints on it for each cache (except the moving ones). We had a PocketPC with all the hints and photo clues for each of the 20 waypoints. We had 5 Garmin Etrex Yellows, one Rino, and a digital camera to capture all the fun. Each of the caches was filled with 10 slips of paper, as proof of getting to it. One sheet was printed with FTF on it, and nine without. Each cache was 'worth' a number of points. And for grabbing the FTF sheet, you got more points. In the alloted 1 hour 15 minutes, we obviously didn't have time to get all 20, but that didn't stop everyone from trying. Man, I have never run so much in one evening in my life. I had to keep up with 8 20somethings who all wanted to go in different directions. By the time we all got back to the rendezvous point, we were all sweating. All in all, it was a great time. Even for people who wouldn't normally do a sport like this (we are a special breed, aren't we?) I think that nobody there had a bad time. If you ever wondered how you would pull something like this off in a group, PlayTime sure had it figured out. Afterwards the slide show of the best shots from the digital camera was a perfect ending. And, there were even prizes handed out for each team. And, yes, the winning team was mine. Hey, you should know better than to challenge the California Magellan Contest winner. Yes, you other cachers, we creamed you! Ha ha. But, it was all in fun, and it was great to see/meet you all. I'm looking forward to the next one. 10. Awesome, Danny. It's funny how God gives such cute babies to such ugly fellas like you and me. Congrats. Ever notice how anyone that caches more than you do is a maniac, while anyone that caches less than you do is an idiot? -Dru Morgan
  11. I'd love to see my town represented, if not my caches. Here is an example from one of my caches. With the right camera, this could be a great shot. The juxtaposition of the wilderness with the Hollywood sign I think says a lot about our region.
  12. I would suggest logging the find with the date for the day you actually found it, or as close as you can remember. I see that done a lot. Not 6 months later, but I've seen weeks later, for sure. Ever notice how anyone that caches more than you do is a maniac, while anyone that caches less than you do is an idiot? -Dru Morgan
  13. I can get the PQs to come pretty quickly, if they don't have an ebook. I set up two, one with a GPX file, for 500 waypoints, and a second one exactly like that one, but checked the 'send the ebook' box. The first came right away, but the second never comes. I have tried this several times, and over several weeks. The only way I got an ebook was once I tried 300 waypoints. Anyone have any idea how to get this to work? 14. My favorite line is, "Logic behind my taking the coin I really wanted it." Well, at least he justified it. And, who are you to judge? Hey, I mean, you aren't trying to force your morality on him, are you? 16. I mailed in my coupon weeks ago, right after I got the FTF on the Moroccan Treasure. I sent it certified and got the receipt back in about two days. I don't know if they waited to get them all in before choosing which prize I got. But, the Daily News called me for an interview, so somebody there knows that I won. 17. I got my prize today for my FTF on the Moroccan Treasure. It is one of the Magellan Sportrak Color units. I want to know who got the Hawaii trip. Ever notice how anyone that caches more than you do is a maniac, while anyone that caches less than you do is an idiot? -Dru Morgan

  21. On 'my cache page' I have a search from 'my house' and below that is 'filter finds' Someone in the IRC channel mentioned that they have a search 'from zip code' and no sign of the 'filter finds' link. Any idea why two different people, both logged in, would have two different 'my cache' pages? Do some people not have the 'filter finds' feature? I didn't check if he was a paid member or not. That could be one possible answer. Ever notice how anyone that caches more than you do is a maniac, while anyone that caches less than you do is an idiot? -Dru Morgan

  25. When someone says: We're kinda.. oh... 3000 miles away from this cache, so.... If a kind and generous cacher would please bring a plastic baggie with them on their next journey to this beautiful peak, we could SHUT people UP and hopefully not have to listen to any more of their whining.
