  15. Just to let the "Caching" public know, I had a problem with my Legend. After the coords. came up after satellite lock, the unit shut off. Emailed Garmin support with the problem. Kristi from Garmin emailed me back with the possible solution/fix for me using my PC and upgrades, BADDA BING, problem solved! I am back to Caching and Mapping. Thanks Kristi and Garmin. How about you other cachers, any comments on your "support as needed" from the makers of your prized machines? Be it Garmin, Magellin or others. Nice to know when I had a problem, there was support from the Manufacturer. This is something that happens very little these days. I thought I would pass this on. 16. CachinCin- Over the Memorial Day weekend, three of us went into lower Wy. to do some caching and loved it. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=4469 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=3988 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=20811 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=22869 The one we gave up on was this http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=7048 due to the Laramie River pushing over its banks and getting late in the day. Your just adding incentive for me to get back up there if you set more caches. Cheers My hockey Mom beat up your soccer Mom. http://coloradogeocaching.com/

  19. My 2cents on the batteries and economy, is the purchase of a plug-in car adapter. This saves plenty of battery time for when you are on the trail. From what I have seen, read and heard most AA batteries of quality will last aprox. 15 hours of constant use in GPS's. Adapter for a Garmin is around $30 or so. 20. Enjoy this fine hobby, Gimpygoo. Try a few practice runs with your GPS before venturing out to far. I am a little concerned that without being familier with the functions and basic ops. of it, you may trek to far at the start. Please, Please ,Please be sure that you know how to mark a waypoint and mark your camp/vehicle before you go. Is it possible to pick up a GPS earlier than the day you leave town?? Is this a park that you are already know your way around?? Here in Colorado as well as your state and others, the terrain as well as forest features can change in the span of a short hike. DO NOT TOTALLY rely on your GPS until you know its functions properly. There is a legend (urban or other) about hikers being lost with a new GPS safely boxed up in their backpack. I am not trying to put a fear in you. I just want your trip and GPS/Geocaching adventure to be a pleasant one. AMBER ALERT

Good idea, bigredmed! I have been hearing that the system, although new, has had some positive results when activated. The thought is also to have the electronic road signs with info when Amber is activated. Buy Fuji
