  1. happy meal toy. haven't found many caches and alot of caches where I cache in Pa/Md have junk in them and most of the trackables go missing. Down in OBX it was the same, found tampons, plastic wendy's spoon, feather and seashell(in a cache on the beach). Wish more folks would embrace the spirit of "trading equal or greater" or leaving the cache better than you found it. It is very dissapointing for the younger cachers in your group. I try to leave decent swag and fill my caches with such.
  2. Frank- I had thought of something like that. Thanks for heads up, I know trackables get swiped a lot, and this guy is pretty cool looking, so I could see a kid or someone keeping it. But no use holding on to it, so figured I throw him out there and see what happens. it will be my first trackable. AZcachemiester- cool idea, didnt think about bigfoot the monster truck michaelcycle- wow size 37, that is insane, another cool idea NYpaddlecacher- cool pic, didnt know there was one there, just passed there on my travels over holiday, had I known about a cache there, would have stopped. taggdog- another good idea thanks, I hit a cache called "seeking sasquatch" down on the 4x4 beach in obx over holiday. lot of good ideas, putting some caches out this weekend in Pa with sisters fam and my dad, maybe I will share the ideas from here and let them vote. Thanks again for feedback everyone.
  3. I enjoy finding any cache. Did some caching over the holidays on vacay and found everything from large ammo boxes/pretzel jars to nanos. One of my favs was the pretzel jar because of the challenge getting to the area. My other fav was one of the micros because it was really tough to find, liked the challenge.
  4. Interesting place, tough hide, cool container idea, or fun to get too. Two of my favorites include a difficult drive through deep sand and steep hills through narrow trails becuase it was fun to get too(obx,NC), and one where you had to climb out on the side of a small(low) bridge to get cache hidden on girder underneath(Huntingdon,Pa).
  5. I purchased the bigfoot cachekinz, looks really cool. I want to release it in a cache, but haven't been able to think of a good mission idea. Any ideas? I was thinking making the mission to be put into "newly published caches" to encourage others to hide more, but open to other ideas. thanks in advance for any ideas shared:)
  6. just a pen and a bunch of nice swag to put into caches. I do like chillypenguins idea of a mirror though, would be alot easier to look under low structures/benches and such when searching for small caches.
  7. There is a cache located in Pennsylvania near Huntingdon called "spooky tree" that is under water. I dont think you need scuba, just a mask to see.
  8. I was recently geocaching with my nephews while on vacay in obx. We were looking for a nano cache on a boardwalk that was on the sound in Duck. We were zeroed in (or so we thought) on a set of benches built into the boardwalk. There was a lot of muggle traffic that evening, partly due to the fact the boardwalk offers great views of sunset over the sound. We were leaning off the boardwalk look at the rail structure, under bench, etc trying to find the tiny little cache. When muggles would walk by and start to stare, my nephews would start to yell "planking" and lay stiff against/on where ever they were looking. I would stop looking at the map on my smartphone and pretent to take pics of them planking with my phone. Since there are less people that know what planking is compared to the number of people that know what geocaching is, we got strange looks. It was pretty funny. We did eventually find the nano cache about 10 feet from what we thought was gz. Was a fun find.
