  1. Awesome. Thanks for the tip! For now though, there seems to be a problem...the MY FINDS Query doesn't seem to be working and the MY HIDES PQ is active, but not ready for download and I still can't delete the previous MY HIDES PQ from 3 days ago. I ran both over an hour ago and I'm getting nothing. It's too bad Groundspeak didn't make any of this a bit more intuitive. You can't delete the MyFinds PQ. When it is time it quietly slinks off to a dark place. There is no MyHides PQ other than the regular PQ you put together. It also has the problem of not downloading archived caches. The best way to do a PQ for your hides is make a bookmark list of your hides and generate the PQ from that. Bookmark list PQ's will include archived caches. OK. Everything finally worked out, but it took a little over 4 hours to finally get the PQs. Weird Also, the "MY HIDES" PQ I was trying to delete was a separate manually done PQ of my hides, not the "normal" one. It is still there, but at least I finally got the two I wanted. Usually I get them within a matter of seconds to a few minutes, not 4 1/2 hours! Anyway, all is good and i appreciate everyone's help! Have a great weekend everyone, and cache on! -Jei
  2. OK... let's get this straightened out for you... I don't mean to speak beneath your level, but many get confused between a Pocket Query and a My Finds Query. They function entirely differently. A PQ will not return all your finds -- a My Finds Query returns all your finds, anywhere in the world, from any log date. The [Add to Queue] button only returns a My Finds. A regular PQ must be submitted from the PQ page (only). Note: the [Add To Queue] button is always grey -- if it is "ghosted" out, then it is unusable for 72 hours since it was last activated. Don't worry about deleting downloads, they self-delete after (I think) six days. Now... if you had ran a My Finds and had gotten it mixed up with the others, and it is now unusable, you may have to wait until the [Add to Queue] is active again Once available, activate the [Add to Queue] (period). There are no parameters to fill out, no day-of-the-week, nothing. It just runs from that activation. It should appear in the download tab within minutes (refresh your browser). --------------- Side note: Did you actually run a PQ for YOUR HIDES? You have but 11 hides. Not really worthy of a PQ. Perhaps you meant something else. Thanks for your clarification. I didn't get anything mixed-up, just being a little impatient really. I did run a PQ for my hides, simply because I just added a new cache and wanted to add it to my GSAK stats. The only thing I was really unsure of was if running a PQ would or would not bring up archived caches. The rest was just being impatient. Thank you everyone for your help! You're one of the reasons this sport/hobby/obsession is so great! -Jei If your using GSAK version 8 you should consider using the publish logs interface. It will download your found log automagically. The update status takes care of archived and disabled caches so there really is not much of a need for the MyFinds PQ anymore. Awesome. 4. Thanks Bear! That button is greyed-out. I'm guessing it's because I ran a query two days ago. Sigh. Thanks for the help! It is still available on the second tab on the PQ page. In fact that is the only way you can download it, it is not emailed. Yes -- if it is greyed out, that means that you had submitted one. It should be available to you in the downloads tab on the PQ page. Repeating this but, it is never emailed, it is only available as a download. The reason a regular PQ (using only "those I have found") doesn't work is because of archivals. A PQ does not return archived caches. There can also be distance limitations. Thanks for confirming the not being able to pull up the archived caches. I've been successfully running PQ and MY FINDS Queries. Since the MY FINDS QUERY had been run recently, I thought maybe I'd be able to work around it by running a PQ. I guess not. I really do know what I'm doing (mostly). It should be ready to run again in a few hours. Thanks for all of your help!!

Well, the first tab "Active Pocket Queries" shows the one I ran for MY HIDES and the one for MY FINDS (but only shows 633 of the 723 finds I really have), and the other tab "Pocket Queries Ready For Download" only shows the PQ I ran on 7/29/2012, which it won't allow me to delete.

  7. Hi there! This is not the first time I've run pocket queries...I've run a number of them for use with GSAK to post my stats to my profile page. I chose to show 800 caches (I've found 723), in all of the states I've cached in (Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Massachusetts) and after running the PQ, the query tells me that it shows 633 caches. Why would it not show all of them? Is it possible it's not pulling up my found caches that have been archived? Help, anyone? EVERYTHING HAS BEEN FIGURED OUT AND I APPRECIATE ALL OF YOUR HELP. TAKE CARE!!!! -JEI
  8. Wouldn't that be nice?! And how about if when you sort by distance (or whatever criteria you choose), it keeps them that way, instead of having to sort by distance again every time you change pages?
  9. Forgive me if I'm doing something wrong or if there's a setting I'm not seeing, but... When I pull up a saved list of caches on the , say a power trail where all the caches have similar names (Power Trail I, Power Trail II, etc) I sort them by distance. However, every time I open the cache page, find the cache (or not) and change screens, I have to resort by distance for evey single cache. This gets very tedious and bothersome, especially with caches using roman numerals. Why don't the caches remain sorted by distance (or whatever sorting criteria I choose) until I change it? Is that something that can be done?
  10. $10 is too much?? Really? Would you rather "save up" for a $100-$300 GPS unit? And I know we don't all make a lot of money, myself included. But if you really have to "save up" a measly $10 to purchase the app, can you really afford the gas to go geocaching with? (Assuming you don't walk or ride a bike to every cache).
  11. I too have thought that would be a nice feature!
  12. Can't it just flip itself depending on how you're holding the phone? It does with virtually ever other iPhone app but this one. There is no landscape mode for the iPhone Geocaching app, but there should be! Yes, please, please, please add this feature!

  14. It's really too bad that you're getting spam, but I'm with everyone else here. I've NEVER had any spam in the Gmail account I use for Geocaching. You must be a victim of coincidence.
  15. Did you have a data connection while you were out and about? The fact that you've saved the caches for offline use tells me you probably didn't or temporarily turned it off. Maybe the refresh button only became available once you got home and got a connection through your home wifi or whatever. If you don't have a connection to the internet, that button wouldn't do you much good. Just throwin' it out there as a possibility. Brilliant! Why didn't I think of that? I'll bet you're right and will have to test your theory later today.
  16. Yes, thank you. The point of my thread was a "feature request" to be able to contact the CO within the App! I am not stupid! I know that I can do it the long-winded way! But smart phones are about convenience and making life easier... hence the suggestion Yes, this would be much more convenient! I too would really like to see this implemented. Even more, I wish they would fix a few things that are wrong with the app. Sadly, Groundspeak seems to be more about making the website more user friendly and integrated with the social websites, than making it and the app functional.
  17. Ascending or descending by what criteria? Difficulty rating, date placed, ??? You have the ability to sort by distance, GC Code, Title, type and (oddly) Favorite Points. And you can reverse the order of each of those.
  18. Does anyone know for sure when or what causes the "Refresh Cache Data" button to appear under the cache listing on the iPhone app? It doesn't appear right away. I loaded 30 caches this morning, went after 11 of them and the "Refresh Cache Data" button wasn't available until after I already got home, and by then it did me no good. The people at Groundspeak failed to mention anything about this feature on their iPhone "tutorial".
  19. The official GeoCaching.com iPhone app has the ability to tap a button and do a search based on D ratings. The website does not. Why? They are created by the same people. I know several people who would love to have this feature, as they don't want to run a pocket query for whatever reason. This can't be that hard to do; they did it for the iPhone app!
  20. I agree with #'s 1-4. #5 seems like a deliberate and unnecessary waste of space.
  21. When you've got the map pulled-up, tap the "flag" icon in the upper right corner. Simply enter the name of the new waypoint (or not) and then tap on the coordinates. It will change to a new screen that allows you to enter the new coordinates. Tap "done" and it will return to the map screen. Then tap on the new flag icon on the map and and tap on "Set As Target". You're all set!
  22. I want to be able to toogle GPS while I am using the geocaching app! I am using the app to save my pocket queries and log found caches. But I do not use it as a GPS device to find the caches. To save battery life I would like to be able to disable GPS use within the geocaching app. Are you absolutely sure that the GPS is on, if you're not searching for caches? I use an iPhone to cache with, and I can tell you that the battery life is significantly reduced when I'm using it to search for a cache, as opposed to just using the app to look through the caches.
