Caching gives me DANGER. I love it. --CoronaKid Danger, Danger Will Robinson! We just installed new skylights. The folks in the upper flat are upset.
  2. You know you're a geocacher if... You come home and your wife pulls a thorn out of your forehead. We just installed new skylights. The folks in the upper flat are upset.
  3. We had thought about a flier type thing.. Then rethought the whole thing. We didn't want to blow off interested parties with a long winded explaination, or to waste time with those who had only a casual interest. We decided that less is more.... we made up a business card that has our team name: Trudy & the beast on the top, the GC logo on the left and our avatar on the right. down the center of the card it simply says "If you don't meet us on the trail, Look for us on the net. We wanted to keep it simple. If they are interested, they can go to the web and polute their brains to the extent that they want. We just installed new skylights. The folks in the upper flat are upset.
  4. I really enjoy meeting other cachers on the trail. tb We just installed new skylights. The folks in the upper flat are upset.
  5. quote:Originally posted by Duc996:Anybody log a geocache in a true combat zone yet(Turkey doesn't count)? My prediction is that it will happen(or has happened) soon. Combat geocaching, always come prepared. I understand there are a couple in downtown Chicago. We just installed new skylights. The folks in the upper flat are upset.
  6. the answer would depend on what you mean by the word "have" We just installed new skylights. The folks in the upper flat are upset.
  7. Did you get permission to place the cache? Would giving parking coordinates help to defuse the situation? Have you gone to the police to inquire about the incedent, the aligations? Or, to explain the activity? We just installed new skylights. The folks in the upper flat are upset.
  8. The clipboard answers most questions by assumption. We usually tell the truth or a variation. If they don't appear to be hooligans, we will tell the story and give the web page. For Hooligans we start with checking for radio signals from space. We also make an effort to not reveal the cache to anyone we have not established some level of trust with. We just installed new skylights. The folks in the upper flat are upset.
  9. quote:Originally posted by Elias: quote:Originally posted by Trudy & The Beast:Why grandfather prices for those who use PayPal and charge more if we prefer to pay directly.... Increased for me because I choose not to use middle-men PayPal... This is not true. If you renew by check prior to your subscription expiring then you'll be grandfathered in as well. -Elias Thank you for your quick response. This was not clear when the increases and grandfathering were first mentioned. You will see my check before the expiration of my membership. We just installed new skylights. The folks in the upper flat are upset.
  10. quote:Originally posted by Criminal:I paid to support the site and the game. I love the game and have no problem with the annual dues. My check is good and I have credit cards that will cover the cost. Why grandfather prices for those who use PayPal and charge more if we prefer to pay directly? Normally I pay more if there is value added, but I have supported the site by paying for services I don't use. Now the price of these unused services will be increased for me and not for others. Increased for me because I choose not to use middle-men PayPal, United Way.. people wanting to make a buck by stepping into the middle of a viable transaction. Groundspeak should be giving discounts to those who pay directly. We just installed new skylights. The folks in the upper flat are upset.
  11. We usually take nothing and leave nothing except a note in the log. We each carry a small first aid kit when we go out caching. So, while the kit would be of no interest to Trudy & I, it's way ahead of a golfball or McToy and at least as good as a Hot-wheels car. We just installed new skylights. The folks in the upper flat are upset.
  12. Multiples at one park are a great attraction for Trudy & I. A multicache can be a real bummer if any of the WPs is missing. We are out for the exercise and a long walk for a single cache [sometimes gone] isn't as interesting as a long walk for multiple independent caches. It's your cache, place it your way and they will come. tb We just installed new skylights. The folks in the upper flat are upset.
  13. quote:Originally posted by Criminal: DON’T attempt to take pictures around a military installation! Do I really need to explain why? I recall [1961-1992] post cards with photos of the front gate being sold in PX's at Army bases all over the US. Are there exceptions? We just installed new skylights. The folks in the upper flat are upset.
  14. quote:Originally posted by Renegade Knight: They should pass out geocheese for geowhines. Please take care with the cheese remarks lest my cheesehead brothers become offended. tb
  15. A few statements made in this thread stuck out in my mind... Who said: “So, are forum posters more or less ethically correct that the average cacher. From my review of cache pages and users, a large proportion have some serious ethical problems.” Who said: “Come on, nearly everyone responding has claimed to be innocent, yet the real world of geocaching reflects the opposite. I would assume that the frequent posters are also frequent cachers. Your statement sugggests that these experienced folks have a corner on what is right or wrong. We ALL know that many of the behaviors I described are simply cheating. We don't need an EXPERT to tell us. Yet, I also find that some of the biggest cheaters are those hardcore cachers.” Who said: “Perhaps, there is a link between the number of caches claimed and the likelihood of cheating. I mean there seems to be some drive in those people with massive numbers of found caches, maybe that drive pushes them to the point of unethical behavior.” Who said: I do have direct evidence of a number of people in my area of behaving in ways that I would consider cheating.” And, Who said: “I never accused you or anyone else here of cheating.” Would you care to rethink your position, Bubba?
  16. quote:Originally posted by Bubba Louise: I never accused you or anyone else here of cheating. In light of your own statement, I don't think you can say the same. My remarks are a reflection of what is taught in Psychology 101. I didn't accuse you of anything. That is the way you took my questions. Are you perhaps a bit sensitive for some reason? You still havn't given us your answers to the questions. We all have.
  17. quote:Originally posted by MarkRobb:1. YES (of course my second find is done blindfolded) 2. YES (only if I've read enough logs to feel like I've already been there) 3. NO (If I can't find it I do my best to belittle the cache hider with multiple snide remarks) 4.YES (GPSr are far too accurate your gonna need to work for my caches) 5.YES ( I nag the cache owner until he goes and checks on his cache and I wait close to his home and follow him to the cache) Mark
  18. quote:Originally posted by brdad:I thought the "General" forums were for the military? Isn't the military where Generals work? That is a Major misconception. Perhaps the topic would best be covered in a private thread.
  19. It occured to me that the liar frequently accuses others of lying, the philanderer points to others indiscressions and the cheater seems to find fault with the way others play the game. We don't see many cheaters around here, how is it that you are seeing so many Bubba Louise? And, did I miss your answers to your questions? tb [This message was edited by Trudy & The Beast on January 08, 2003 at 04:48 PM.]
  20. My personal feeling is that if you wouldn't walk from WP to WP, then set them up as individual caches. Socko set up Points of Interest(GC54F6) as a multicache that was essentially virtual to virtual with a conventional cache at the end. Each WP has a tag that leads to the next. The cache is enjoyed by all who visit as the WPs are unique and worth visiting on their own. You will need to consider how you are going to route you finders from point-to-point without posting a masterplan that would allow some to go directly to the final WP. Points of Interest is perhaps 15 miles from start to finish. If your clever, you might find a way to use a virtual as the WP1 of an offset type cache (2WP multicache). You have a lot of options available, It's your cache. Place it and they will come. tb
  21. quote:Originally posted by Criminal:- no - no - I log a couldn't find - no - no T&tb's numbers are only of concern to T&tb. If we cheat, who are we cheating? knowing that our numbers are real gives greater satisfaction. "First to thine own self be true"
  22. I see two threads here.. I have already commented on topic. Off topic: ZPG I am convinced that this is a really lousy arguement for several reasons. The greatest of these is that it is a no win arguement. For those who hold that humans are reproducing too rapidly, I ask what you might propose as an alternative? If there is a viable alternative, who would subscribe to it? Perhaps it would only be our enlightened, our intelectuals. Smart and educated people. Who would be reproducing then? And, don't we currently protect their right to reproduce? Another facet: The earth's population is 6 billion and doubling every thirty years. If you would propose that we as humans need to change that, then why arn't you selling your message in China [pop. 1.5 billion] or India [pop. 1 billion] where this change might be needed the most? Or are you sticking your nose in where it doesn't belong: other peoples' reproductive habits? I am not claiming any high ground here, Just asking what our choices are. BTW. I realize that there are many, many educated, smart, enlightened people in both China and India. I had no intention of infering otherwise. tb
  23. From the book WISCONSIN CURIOSITIES By Michael Feldman "Anna Mae Bauer has had seventeen collisions with deer on the road. 'It's not as if I'm out to set a record or anything,' says Anna Mae, who probably has set a record." _________ Beat that! [Tongue in cheek] tb [This message was edited by Trudy & The Beast on January 05, 2003 at 06:48 AM.]
  24. Trudy wouldn't hunt this, but the beast would. The beast would be sure to sign someone else's name after his!
  25. Trudy & I wish each and every one of you the season's best and a cache prosperour New Year! tb
