If you're looking for great views that don't involve a super long hike try: A Bald Spot Chipper's Conundrum If you do Chippers this one's really close: King of the Hill Have fun!
  2. I'm 24. Hmmm...I remember my parents making me turn MTV off whenever there was a George Michael video on.
  3. Seeing as how it was one of my caches that your name was written in I figured that I should make a comment. I think it's horrible that the cache got looted, but it's even worse that your name got mentioned and now all this has happened. On the cache page I wrote why I thought your name got picked. Of course I had my name on the box and in the log book, but I guess they decided to use yours. I like to think that it was just some kids that found the cache and took everything, not an actual geocacher. That would really be too bad, although I realize that it could happen. I stayed up for a long time last night thinking about what to do. First I thought about pulling all of my caches, including one that I hid yesterday but haven't posted to the site yet. Unfortunately if everyone did that we wouldn't have this sport. I finally decided that I wouldn't hide many in popular city parks, instead I'm going to look for more rural locations. They won't get as many hits but they might be safer. I know, Team Teasel, that your cache was pretty far out in the country but maybe it will save some of them. As far as geocachers looting caches, I'm starting to think that MOC are the way to go. There's probably no real solution, caches will always get stolen and we'll always have to replace them. Sorry I was rambling everyone. I'm still sad about my cache, since it was my first to get looted. Team Teasel, I hope this passes over and you continue to enjoy caching. I'm sure I will since I still think geocaching is super fun!

  5. I know I ended up taking Aquaman a bit North but I wanted to get him near I-5. I figured it would be his best shot for CA. Makaio's cache was one of the only ones that I could think of that was big enough for him, and he barely fit in that one! Hopefully he doesn't get taken too far off the beaten path again.
  6. My mom ($C-KERS) introduced me to geocaching. I think she heard about it at a where's george meeting, if I remember correctly. After going on two hunts I bought my own gps and have been caching ever since.
  7. When you log the caches that you put them in there should be a pull down menu listing the travel bugs that you have. It's on the bottom of the screen. You just pick the one you left and log your find (or note) like normal. No need to use the number again!
  8. Mine have come at all different times. Sometimes early in the morning, sometimes late at night. I haven't gotten any the last couple of days and I should have. So mine don't seem to be on a regular schedule. Did you ever end up getting yours?

    Palm prices

I use a Palm m100 and I've found that it has enough space for me. I have a couple of queries on it and I still have about half of my 2MB free. It may not be the newest snazziest PDA but it definitely works for geocaching, and it's cheap too!
  10. I'll be heading that way next weekend, so if he's still there I'll break him out of his Tugman Tubs prison and set him free.
  11. It's usually my favorite part of the boards I visit. I think with all the unique people here it would be really fun and uhm...interesting! Go off-topic forum, go off-topic forum, wooo!

  13. Glad to hear that they can take a fall. I'm an owner of the yellow eTrex also, and I often worry about dropping it. Luckily they have a lanyard but I suppose if you fell too it wouldn't help much. The other day my cell phone got up close and personal with a sidewalk. It still works but it's got some ugly scars from the event. The eTrex seems a bit more durable though, none of that fancy, shiny plastic to scratch up. Thanks for testing out it's toughness! Now I won't have to throw it down to find out how well it holds up.

  15. I make notes on the printed out cache pages, then when I get home I put them all in a big binder. Kind of a geocaching journal, saves me from having to carry more stuff in my pack. I did carry a notebook at first but found that for some reason I wasn't writing in it. I guess I'm just lazy and since I usually have the cache page already in my hand. You get the idea!
  16. I was reading through the active topics and came upon this one. Although I'm not in Thailand, I just wanted to let you know that I think it's wonderful the amount of effort you're putting into geocaching. I hope you're able to get it off the ground way over there! Maybe someday I'll visit Thailand and hit a few of your caches. Until then, good luck and keep at it!
  17. I was hooked as soon as my mom took me along with her. I knew I had to have a gps of my very own, so I ordered one. Had to wait FOREVER for it to arrive and have been loving geocaching ever since. Now, if only I could get my husband to enjoy it...
  18. Hi Mike, I usually take: compass gps firstaid kit cell phone camera cache pages mini leatherman calculator extra pencils batteries snacks and water trading items flashlight There might be more, I just can't remember. I try to keep my pack stocked and ready to go. I have also noticed a few other threads on this subject so you might search for them and I'm sure you'd find a lot of information.
