  1. Watching the news and thought I'd imitate torry here. Of course, i'm not as good, since I could only come up with four. 4. If another car is already stranded in the water, by all means, try it yourself. 3. Berettas are actually NOT submersible, despite popular belief. If you want proof, ask some evansville cacher.. 2. Just because you open your door and stare down like an idiot doesn't mean your neon is going to keep moving. 1. If you can no longer see the cement wall of the bridge, you might consider turning around. YES, this means you, redneck with monster truck. A bridge near here actually washed out, and someone tried to drive through the flood over the bridge that was no longer there. Darwin Award candidate?
  2. I'm going to bump this because I feel it is a real issue. Caches along a route would be great if I could get all caches within 5 miles of a 200 or 300 mile route, but with this limitation, you're lucky to get within half a mile of a long route! This stinks, Groundspeak, and it seems like an easy fix! I'm stuck trying to make the route the exact distance for 500 caches or just running circle PQS!
  3. I can understand allowing an area to recover if it is a nature preserve or state park. But I really don't get it at the reservoir properties. Every DNR person I ever talked to there said that the facility was there to be used, not preserved. I think we need a different system for the reservoirs/hunting areas/etc. They're really a totally different animal than the state parks. First off, triple or quadruple the limit. 100 caches at a huge property like salamonie lake seems like no big deal to me. Second, make the permit much easier. Reduce it to post card size, just name, address and phone number of cacher, the waypoint code (GCXXXXX), the coordinates, and a hide description. This lets them know it's there and who owns it if there is a problem. Publish the cache as soon as the permit is received. Third, increase the limit per cacher. Don't let one person take all 100, but limit each person to say 20 caches. I really think these permits are just out of whack for these properties. That's just my 2 cents. Take it or leave it.
  4. I've used my current 60csx to death and I want to replace the rubber parts on it. Garmin wants $150, plus I'd have to buy another gps to use in the meantime.. I figure I can get a broken unit for much cheaper. I don't care if the screen is cracked, connectors broken, plastic cracked, whatever, just so long as the rubber pieces are in good shape. I Would guess all of the parts are the same for all of the 60 series GPSes. Get rid of your broken unit and make some dough in the process.
  5. If I didn't work Saturday I would take you up on that. Geocached in Indiana and Ohio today. Don't know when my next chance will be yet (no work schedule for next week yet).
  6. The first find is one nobody ever forgets. I have over 5,000 finds but I still remember the first one like it was yesterday. One of Torry's in an old Cemetery 4 miles from my house. GCHB98 Enjoy the hobby Dave. Have fun first and foremost and the milestones will come easily!
  7. Hit my head on too many tree limbs I think.
  8. Looks like I will be buying an annual pass this year after all! I'm going to try to get as many as possible.
  9. With regular queries, you can set a large circle of say, 75 miles and split it into multiple queries using the placed date. For some reason, this isn't working with Caches along a route queries. The query seems to go down the route to a point and stop, even if you get it below 500 with the placed dates. Can this be fixed to work like the regular queries so I can get more data without having to make multiple route files?
  10. I almost forgot the Indian ones. I also have three OSQs. So make my SQ grand total 325. ISQ total is 322. 13. Well, maybe i'm wrong! Still, though, i'd prefer to still have a separate GPS. Combing too many devices causes conflicts. For example, if I got a call while walking to a cache, i'd have to stop and talk because my GPS is on the same device. Whereas, with two, I can keep walking towards the location. Unless someone produces a "tough" phone for android, it wouldn't be good to be carrying it over muddy trails and creeks, anyway. Everything else, though, would be great wrapped in to one. Need two hands to operate the Palm or Digital Camera anyway. The only problem will be the price-tag. With the talk and internet service, these will probably rack up over $100 a month.
  14. It probably won't outperform a Garmin 60CSX as far as GPS usage goes. Phone manufactures aren't likely to put SirfIII's in a phone, I don't think. However, the platform itself has the ability to replace my Phone, Camera, and Palm in one device. It is totally open to user created programs, meaning it would be possible to create a "GSAK" for the phone. The other cool program possiblities are endless. Check out the second video on the website. The guy has made a geocaching platform for the phone, letting you see caching friends on the map. I assume, using the built in GPS on the phone. How awesome would this be for group caching? If you lost the pack, you could still see them on the map and find them again. http://code.google.com/android/
  15. Look for Fire Mountain's too. They're Ryan's with a different name plate. Theres also a golden corral in bloomington. However, If we're going as far out as Anderson. I'll recommend Art's Pizza on North Broadway in Anderson. Great Pizza. I'm always looking for an excuse to eat at Art's. Let me know if you're meeting in the Indy Area or NE of it.
  16. The combination palm/GPS thing is cool, but unless they let you mark as found, it's not worth the trouble. My Palm TX doesn't weigh me down that much. The only problem with my 60Csx as it's seen so many darn caches, it's getting pretty beat up!
  17. Wow. That creek was a mere trickle when I was there! WTG on 1000.
  18. This is what i thought the colorado would wind up doing from the beginning. Like trying to cache with a Nuvi from what I understand. They built it around a road mapping GPS and left out the important geocaching/trail features like the ability to delete and the calendar.
  19. Its not a TOU violation if you share the information via a bookmark list. The PQ would make it much easier to make the bookmark list. Right now, you have to download every cache in the state and then run a GSAK filter. This takes a lot of queries.
  20. If I hadn't been going to an event in indy today, i would of been there! Been wanting to go to salamonie and knock out the waterless island caches before they become islands again!
  21. I'm ready! Can we have it tomorrow?
  22. WAY TO GO DAGGY! Look forward to completing this challenge myself.
  23. If you focused on getting counties and not numbers, 59 should be get-able in 4 or 5 trips out. I completed 15 in a day in the SW corner. That was my longest drive for them and was about 650 miles.
  24. Shydog & Buddaman Lead Dog Big Crane Complete!
  25. Team? What team? I'm 17, working at a sears store (and looking for more gainful employment)
