A rule of thumb that I use is that in "cache-saturated areas" it should take at least 15 minutes of walking or hiking to get from one cache to another. Also, I like to find new areas where a cache could be hidden- a place someone hasn't thought of before. But some areas, like parks and forests, are big enough for even many caches to co-exist. YIKES! Well, here's what I suspected at first: 1. Are you SURE that the charger is made for NIMH batteries? If you are using a NiCad charger, that could be a BIG PROBLEM. 2. Did you check to make sure that the polarity (+- orientation) of the batteries are correct? The batteries might have gotten permenantly screwed up as well- use caution. I haven't heard many people have bad things to say about Garmin or their GPS units. I'm pleasantly surprised that there still exists companies that really do focus on making a product of the most exacting and excellent quality possible. What would be a good "upgrade" from the GPS-3 if I wanted a more sophisticated unit? I saw the Vs, but I also saw these "E-Trek" units that looked pretty nice (and compact!) as well. Yeah, I attribute most of the orb phenomenon to dust particles. I've seen people who got pictures with orbs and said "LOOK! PARANORMAL!" and I've seen people who got pictures with the exact same-looking orbs who said "Look. It was there and it was dusty as hell." Of course, there is usually a lot of the dust and debris in long-abandoned or isolated "spooky" places as well, adding to the psychological effect. I'm from Pennsylvania, so I can't check out some of these places, but there are a few I'd like to see, like the abandoned "Demon's Alley" housing area, and I'd also like to explore the abandoned Jungle Habitat. Hey, those look pretty darn good for a cache. Not only are they smaller and less cumbersome then an ammunition cannister, but at $1.50 each, they're pratically a steal! I think I'll order five of them, just hope they come with gaskets!
