  2. No problem to use a GPS in Thailand.. but my experience is that local thai people see you walking around with your GPS just think that you have got a Mobile Phone that will be 10 years old because of the big size.. (Magellan 310) hope you will enjoy Thailand.. I'm trying to get this geocaching of the ground here in thailand.. [This message was edited by Irresisti on May 30, 2002 at 05:44 AM.]
  3. The first cache I found was also not found before.. so first find and first to find.. Had great fun on the first find.. It was the "Haew Narok Waterfall" cache in Thailand ~Happy Cachin'~
  4. I placed 2 caches and they are around 4 km from each other.. I think that is normal distance..
  5. I have got a Magellan GPS 310 and experienced no problems.. when i'm about 20 meters from the cache i start walking at a reasonable speed and then stop after a few seconds and the Compass and all information is correct it will read something like 0.01 KM from destination and the compass points strait at the cache.. so last 10 meters i walk and i usually find the right spot.. I did read some threads about the temperature to be a big point in the working speed of your GPS.. I did read about in hot conditions it will take about 15 seconds to get a fix. And in cold conditions can take up to 2 minutes to get a fix.. I'm living here where it is almost always above 30 degrees Celcius.. maybe that my GPS works far more quicker than yours does in the cold.. Happy Cachin'

  7. My Magellan gives actual speed when tracking satalites.. It can count vertical speed and elevation so it computes with those two actual speeds..
  8. I am very sad to see that there arent that many geocachers here in asia...
  9. Well I dont know sure but i think it only counts horizontal speeds.. so when traveling vertical it will read zero. ehhh well.. i think i'm very wrong it will indicate also a speed when traveling vertical.. The GPS can compute elevation and can see from the satalietes postition how much you travel vertical and horizontal and will compute a real speed...
