  1. I'm not so much worried about caching in the woods alone and falling into a hole. I do afterall cache with my 3G enabled phone so if I went missing, someone would find me eventually! I am more concerned about caching in the city. I currently live in PDX and have encountered some skeettttchhy people out on my walks. So much as I've turned around and abandoned the search. You can by my avatar though I have an intimidating looking dog that I feel secure with. He's a total mush but people wouldn't know by his looks. =)
  2. was rooting around in a palm tree visiting san diego and brushed up against a black widow. wasn't familiar with the territory!
  3. OK so what settings does my GPS have to be on? Please pretend that I have no idea how all this stuff works and you're talking to a child. I listed what my settings are. The only option I have is to be in degrees, degrees minutes or degrees minutes seconds. So what do I do??
  4. Please can someone help? I can't do mystery or multi caches until I fix this issue!
  5. OK, I have posted about this before but this is seriously baffling me! I'm trying to input 39.96782 -105.23083 but when I save it, it saves as 40.36782 with the west point the same. I have my navigation settings on: Primary: Lat/Lon Degree/Minute Primary Coor Accuracy: 1 Meter Primary Map Datum: WGS84 And same with secondary North Reference: Magnetic Altimeter Source: GPS What am I doing wrong???
  6. Hey guys! My friend DarceeAnne and I got turned onto geocaching just a month ago and i'm already up to 58, (12 today!) We are having a great time but are looking for some caches that are a little more challenging or finding ones that bring you to an epic place. Does anyone have favorites they'd like to share? I've been looking at 5/5's and I'll tell you, we're pretty tough, so bring it on!
  7. thank you, it worked although it still changed one of my 1's to a 2. but ill find it.
  8. (I don't have fat finger syndrome) =) The GPS gives me the options for entry as: degrees degrees, minutes degrees, minutes, seconds <---- this is the one I have it set to. Is that wrong?
  9. No I'm not doing send to GPS, I just solved another mystery and the coordinates for this one went in fine. I tried again with the other and it still shifts those two numbers on it's own. ??
  10. Why would it not let me enter the coordinates if the coordinates are real!? Does it have something to do with the datum? I have mine set for the geocaching one.
  11. I changed the settings so that I can enter it as degrees, minutes, seconds as opposed to just degrees and that almost helps BUT when I enter the coordinates now, it automatically changes 40 02.682 to 40 03.082 no matter how many times I go back and enter it! WHY?!
  12. I have a Magellan eXplorists 310. When I enter the final GPS coordinates for a mystery cache into the computer to verify the location (they are correct), and then put them as a waypoint into my GPS, the GPS shows a different location, a wrong one. Suggestions?
  13. Ok well to conclude, I bought the premium membership and now can just download gpx files directly into the GPS. Sorry to be so dramatic!!! See you out there!!!
  14. I have tried converting .loc into .gpx and .gs and NOTHING! it wont show up on my GPS!!! what am i doing wrong????
  15. would i be having an easier time if i was a premium member?
  16. I did what you said after adding babel and dragged it into the geocache folder and still nothing. This is not worth it. I'm sending this back and getting something Mac Compatable. Any suggestions?
  17. I am downloading Babel now. I think that will help converting the LOC files.
  18. AND! I tried dowloading Maccaching but I have no idea how to use it!!!
  19. I was so looking forward to getting my paperless GPS but I can't figure out how to upload caches from my MAC to the GPS. Vantage Point is not Mac compatible, I tried dowloading Magellan Communicator and that's not working when I try to "send to my GPS" Honestly, I am computer illiterate with this stuff...I am also not a premium member so I can't do the GPX When I click on LOC waypoint, it just gives me paragrahs of jibberish What am I doing wrong?
