  1. There's a bunch of geocaching folks on LiveJournal (a blogging site), with a couple of communities of geocachers. http://www.livejournal.com/ --flamingskye
  2. Okay, I'm a newest of the newbies here, but I'm already using Google Earth with the Geocaching Network KML loaded, so caches show up. Way cool. If I'm planning a route from Eugene to Portland, for example, I can find all the caches along my route, and pick the ones I want by how close they are to the path I'm taking. My husband is Dutch, and I'm already planning--with the help of Google Earth-- what caches to find in Holland that are fairly close to his mom's house. --flamingskye
  3. Hi, I'm a new a cacher, and need help with acronyms used. I know TNLN, but the others... well, let's just say I'm slow. Are they listed anywhere? Thanks, Merry Christmas, flamingskye
  4. I mostly lurk, because I am learning. Only have found 21 caches. I'm trying to find out translations of the common acronyms. Any help out there? --flamingskye
  5. Hi, I have a travel bug who requested pictures of his adventures. I don't see how to upload a picture to the site. Who can help? Thanks, flamingskye
  6. The usual culprit in this case is that the waypoints are there, but your Legend is not displaying them. Make sure that when you are listing waypoints, the Legend C is set to "Find by Name" and "All Symbols". More infor (with screen shots) can be found at questions 5 and 6 in the waypoints section of the FAQ. Oh my, thanks. Once I sent the menu to "by name," boom! there they were. Now I feel VERY silly! flamingskye
  7. Yes, checked the USB box for sure. No, no error reports. On the Garmin, I went to "Find" and then the waypoints page to look. Thanks for helping me... flamingskye
  8. Hi, I'm trying to use GSAK to download waypoints to my new Garmin Etrex Legend C. I have chosen "Garmin" under GPS setup. I have loaded 4 .gpx waypoint files into the database. I chose "send waypoints" and it seemed to send them to my Garmin, which is turned on and plugged in (and I loaded the USB drivers first!). But the waypoints don't show up on the Garmin. ??? Yes, I'm a newby here. I'm interested in registering the software, but I need to know it works for me. Thanks, flamingskye
  9. Hi, I'm brand new to this--I have a Garmin Legend, and am technically strong on computers. But I feel clueless to make the link between what the GPS does, and how to use it for geocaching. I understand it theoretically, and I think I managed to enter my first coordinates of the initial cache I want to find, but now...? Do you know of any tutorials to get me started? Thanks, Flamingskye (feeling like a bashful newby)
