  1. I've been rving about 12 years and started caching about 5 years. I'm now so addicted to both. Next spring I hope to spend time in montana just hiking and caching and rving. Have fun And happy hunting
  2. OK, now I have a question. Does it make a difference if my GPS is zoomed all the way in? Something Ive always wondered about.
  3. I have the same problem. I moved waypoints from my PC and from my laptop to my nuvi 750 and my Etrex Legend using EasyGPX. Then a couple of months ago I cannot get anything to go into my nuvi. No problem downloading into the Legend. I changed nothing. I can try through GSAK but it was just convenient EasyGPS. I'm just curious why, all of a sudden, EasyGPS fails me.
  4. 68 here grand daughter 16 Does that make me the oldest?
  5. Mark your cachemobile. Unless you park in a Wal-Mart parking lot, its a good idea to mark the location of your car so, after you wonder through the woods you will have a good idea as to where your ride it. Your GPS will also have a route you can 'track back' but the way points are easier. First thing I did with the kids was to teach them to use track back. Been there, been lost, done that. Have fun and Good Luck
  6. My thanks go out to your cousin as well as all the other men and women who defend our freedom. I have a grandson in Iraq who is coming home, then shipping out to Afghanistan. God bless him. (Can I say that??) Merry Christmas (Can I say that??) Dont care Im saying it anyway.
  7. When caching with my sister and one of us finds, we both log it as a find. But I have a friend and she wants to find the cache....so when I find it I walk away and let her continue to find then we both log. She will not log if she does not find it herself.
  8. This summer I did a 7000 mile trek across the U.S. From Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Utah E to W, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah N to S, New Mexico and West Texas. I have a wireless card for my laptop so I did a 'cache along the route' almost every night, downloaded it into my gps and palm and would stop when I arrived at a cache. Asking for caches no more than .5 miles from my route gave me plenty of caches. My summer find was almost 300 caches. When I stopped for the night I would do a pocket queries for the area. I can say the ones in Utah and Nevada were the most fun. Lots of desert. Great reception by the GPS. Its OK to download as many as you can and you dont have to stop and find all of them. Although, its tough to pass'em up. Just keep planning for your trip and have a great time. Suzanne Dive-n-diva
  9. I had a similar problem with 2 of my GPS' and I downloaded updated software and they are working great. Go to http://www8.garmin.com/support/blosp.jsp and find your gps. Download the latest software. Its pretty easy to do. Let us know if this works. Happy hunting
  10. I'm solo and do lots of caching alone. I also am from Texas so ......you know that means I carry and I am trained in the use of same. I have more fun if someone is with me but that's not always possible. Take a course in self defense and you will feel better about being out there alone. Happy Caching
  11. Ditto. My family and friends also think Im nuts. If you ask me to go on a walk I will say no.....but ask me to go hiking 2 miles down in the woods to search for a film canister.....I'm off the couch. So we just have to leave the family and go. Im 68 and also have earned the right to do what I want. Wish we lived close to each other. Happy Hunting
  12. This is great. And Ive done about all of it. Im gonna print it our and frame it. Happy hunting.
  13. Ah - now I can comment... the bolded part IS your agenda. The Reviewer is right. Change the title, remove the agenda from the description, let the place and its message speak for itself. I hope this is not the case. I once created a cache in honor of my dead dog and it went through. Just what IS the agenda?
  14. That's the one I use. Has a wrist strap, adjustable and will go into places I dont want to go. Happy Caching
  15. I dont mind the log being deleted, I object to not being advised that it was deleted. Probably because I told the owner that the location was just so junked up. Ive been to a lot of GZ and never in such a trash pile. Not that it was his fault. But there were so many other nearby location he could have used.
  16. I noticed the same thing. I was not notified when I posted a DNF and the owner deleted it several days later. What's up?
  17. Just like you remove oders from refrigerators.....pack it full of crumpled newspaper. Leave it for several days.
  18. I have been using Spinner and Plucker to download caches into my Palm. During the past month my palm battery died because I just did not recharge it. Now, when I do pocket querries and pass it to spinner and then plucker, I cannot get it to go into the palm. Plucker is visable on my palm. I tried several time and nothing. I would appreciate any help I can get to fix this problem. I know.....I should purchase an Oregon. Thanks Suzanne Dive-n-diva
  19. Yes, I still have the viewer on my Palm. Any suggestions? thanks Suzanne

  21. Are you saying the nuvi can be used for paperless caching? If so, how do you download the caches?
  22. When I first started hunting, I bought an Etrex Legend, and it was and is still good. Then I went to the GPSmap 60csx and it is great. I, personally, like all the bells and whistles. When you find GZ (ground zero) you just click 'found'. It seperates your found caches to a seperate page. I like the altimeter and the compass. The 60csx seems to work better in the woods, tall building, canyons etc. Then Sam's had the nuvi 750 just under $300 so I had to have that one. I thought I was buying a GPS just for the car but found out I can download caches, enter coordinates, music, pictures, audible books, just about anything. So I use the nuvi to drive as close to a cache as I can drive. Then use the 60 csx or the legend to go on foot. Yes, I could use the nuvi on foot but its easier for me to grab the others. Hope this helps and have a great time hunting.
  23. Thanks EScout, This method works also. It is a little tedious to follow the roads with the mouse but I did it. WOW, I need to check the fourm when I have problems. kuul dive-n-diva
  24. Thanks Brian, I did it and it works. This makes my life much easier. Maping will be much easier.
  25. Hi to all you forum regulars. Hope you can help me. I've been caching since November 05 with just over 400 finds. Im so hooked on caching that I now own 6 GPS with the nuvi 750 being my latest and favorite Now, here is the problem. I do lots of traveling in my motorhome and like to do "Cache along the route". I create a map on Google Earth as directions dictate. But sometime GE gives me a route that I dont want to take. I have to create several small routes in order to get it to go the way I want to go. This take lots of time. Question: Is there anyway to create a route on GE using the road and highways I want to use. Or is there a way to use another maping program (i.e. Streets and Trips or Garman's maps) to do what I want to do. Hope I made my self clear. Thank for your help. Dive-n-diva
