  1. Thanks Blue, I realize this TB is likely history. I was just trying to shake something or someone loose, if it's gathering dust somewhere on a shelf. You know, they keeping meaning to do something with it, but they never quite get around to doing it. I'll give them the benefit and call it "unintentional hoarding." I'm well acquainted with the curse of inertia myself. That's all. Lost I must have missed this posting. That Archived cache has been missing since July of 2007. There's a small chance that it has been misplaced and could be recovered, but given the apparent interest of the cache owner I wouldn't bet your $50 that it's going to be retrieved any time soon. Since the bug has been gone that long you can certainly re-release it as soon as you want. The thing is, don't release anything that you'd be willing to pay 50 bucks to get it back, even for sentimental reasons. The travel experience is what we are trying for here.
  2. Normally my response to negotiating with terrorists is, "Nuts." And I don't really want to violate the spirit of our hobby. But for my son's sake, just this one time, and only because it was his first TB, I will make an exception and offer to pay the ransom. If anyone has the Runs Like A Deere Travel Bug (see info below) contact me and I will provide a mailing address, and pay $50.00 US upon its return. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=216887 Last reported in Wind Dancer, a cache that was de-activated, near Yakima, WA, over a year ago. Thanks everyone. LostButMakingGoodTime

  4. I'm new at this business, but I just placed my first TB and so I am reading with interest the discussions related to TBs. I think I would agree that reading a log entry that amounts to nothing more than a grab/drop would at least let you know your TB is alive and well in the last known location, evn if no movement is a little disappointing. As for a name for the practice/practioner? Everyone seems to keep saying, "grab/drop". So why not combine the two, "grop". Of course better yet, let's make it "grope". As in, "My TB just got groped." Didn't move an inch but got groped just the same." It fits and the guilty parties would soon be known as "TB gropers". This could be fun! PLease reply with your kind, civil, well-reasoned feedback.
