  1. Well that's a real dumb thing to say.
  2. Well this is sad to read! We have a cacher in our local area that enjoys the hide as much if not more than the find and he gets grief for it. It is true that he has blanketed the area with caches but as many local events as I have been to have I ever heard "I wish he would just stop" or anything of the sort. To speak to cache maintenance he does a great job and I know he picks up his geo-trash if it is still there to find. He is very conscious of trash... I spent a day caching with him in a state recreation area and by noon he couldn't carry any more trash. It is dis-heartening that the opinion is to come here looking for "advice" first then consider talking to the CO rather than the other way around. I couldn't even imagine the number of cachers that started their obsession as a muggle asking what we were doing while searching for one of his caches. I have never found one of his caches that I thought "that was garbage" If the container isn't to par... it's the story in the description, if it's not that it's the uniqueness of his puzzles or multi's. Before anyone continues to bash him I would challenge you to read a dozen or so of his cache pages or spend a day hunting his great caches. He is the only person I have ever seen be able to maintain a large size container in an urban environment. To the cache in question - Me and my family love what you do and hope you never stop!
  3. I want to thank you all for your support. I have another round up for auction if anyone cares to have a look. Ten coins up this time...
  4. Hello everyone. Wanted to come in for an update for those that have followed our financial woes over the past couple years. I am happy to say that our situation is improving greatly. I am working steady at the moment, and after losing our house and a short stretch living with Mrs. CCT's parents we are back out on our own. We have an apartment now and though it is an adjustment we are getting on okay. I am happy to say that the coins we have sold in the past have helped us immensly. The money we have made has helped buy groceries and pay bills and even helped pay off a couple bills. We are getting in a better situation but are still tight on money as we no longer get food assistance and are trying to make the adjustment back to buying our own groceries. Thus the coin selling will continue as the money has been a huge help. Here is a link to one of the listings: Yemon Yime Coin We are also selling the following there: Forest Jewel Black Nickel Forest Jewel Silver 2008 Earth Turtle - Lt. Green 2008 Earth Turtle - Dk. Blue 2007 Pod Cacher Thank you all for you support. I have heard horror stories about these forums but you have all been wonderful and tolerant. Thank you so very, very much!
  5. Just to add, 9:56pm on Friday night. PQ's nearly 1hr old and no email yet. Still seems to be issues.
  6. Thank you very much. We are so excited to be getting our own place again. There is so much stress leading up to it. I never want to move again where it is so long until move day. We had to wait 3 total weeks and are down to just under 2 weeks to go. The apartment is a 2 bed one bath apartment. Newly remodeled with new cabinets, granite counter tops. Dish washer, garbage disposal and lots of places to put things. We need places to put things.
  7. Hello all. It has been some time since I've been on here. I wanted to let you all know that I have some coins for sale on Ebay right now. All of them are trackable at GC.com. The reason for the sale... Well some know we have had some bad financial trouble this past year and longer. Well things got bad enough that we lost our house to foreclosure and had to move in with family to try and make it. It lasted a few months but it is time to move on. We have been approved for an apartment and are moving on January 29th (just happened to be my B-Day as well.) These coin sales will help us in two ways. First it will reduce the bulk of what we are taking with us. Second the cash will help off set the move in costs. I hope you all can help us out. Here is a link to one of them: Coins for sale Thanks for your time.
  8. Funny you should ask. There is an event coming up in the Detroit area early next year. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d1-218c0778d8cf The more advanced topics are the things we will be touching on. We are hoping it will become a big thing. Not sure but as our head organizer has mentioned your name this may be related. The session I will be giving that day is on how to organize and execute a power run. We managed 3 triple digit days this year and some in our area seemed interested in how it is done so it made the bill for the event.
  9. Greetings. Just a quick note to let everyone know that we are selling some coins to earn some cash. Here is the item number to a Fortune Favors the Bold coin we are selling. 200368300362 Many of you know of our financial troubles and it is getting incresingly difficult to do the things we love to do so we are selling off some coins to keep us going. Hope those of you that can, will help us out where you can. As I don't want to get in trouble like I did before this will be my only post but I will be putting coins on for a couple weeks so please check back there often. Love and hugs all.
  10. Anyone else having trouble with the proper icons showing in Google Earth? Getting ready for MWGB and happen to notice that when I load a GPX to Google Earth the only icons that are showing up correctly are Earth Cache and I think Web Cam. I thought it might have been my two GPX that I ran for the Bash but I loaded one from GW7 that was fine before and it shows up the same way now. I figure it is just a communication thing between Google Earth and GC.com but any info would be useful. Thanks.
  11. Well I sure hope I get a refund. Unemployed and losing my house I sure could use the $55 back.
  12. Here is a good website for how to stuff. http://www.geocacher-u.com/
  13. Since there seems to be a trend of Multis dying off I am always in favor of another. I would say make it a full time multi and be done with it.
  14. I was wondering if anyone knows of any caches that require overnight hiking/backpacking. Here in Michigan we have an event coming up which you get ferried to an island and you only have what you can carry. Seems like a great event but I can't go. But it got me to wondering what other caches there might be that I could try and plan a trip like that to do. Anywhere in the United States would be fine. Any level of skill required would be fine as well. I will just look them over and decide if I could do it. This isn't a trip I would take any time soon as I don't have any of the equipment I would need for such a trip but one day.
  15. Glad to see this topic still alive. I had sent an email and then came here to post for updates and this thread was right at the top. I will have to watch this one and see what happens.
  16. Hello there. This thread will likely be shut down so if you want you can email me at john_x_flanagan@yahoo.com and I will give you all the info on those little fellas
  17. As Pathtags are mostly outlawed even in discussion I will try and answer your question before the thread gets shut down. The quick answers are as follows: They are not trackable at GC.com which is why they are not allowed to be discussed. They aren't really "Trackable" anywhere. The code on the back of a PT adds it to your collection and most people collect them. We have over 1000 in our collection, there are some with many more. It is really a sig item of the individual who left it and if you found it, it's yours to keep. If you want more information you can email me at john_x_flanagan@yahoo.com
  18. Today we got an incredible surprise. We got a box from a cacher... no return address. We opened up the box and it was chuck full of candy and three coins. It was a gift from someone who must have read or heard about our financial trouble and wanted to lift our spirits. Boy did it ever!!! There was a card , a very nice card. This person said something about they got a pay it forward gift and started their own mission and included us. We were moved to tears at the gesture. Thank you so much to whomever you are.
  19. Still when I try it in my log it doesn't work!! I am trying to do it on a "Note" on the logs. Cache isn't published yet. Don't know if that matters.
  20. Wonder what the heck I'm missing. I'm doing text
  21. cache logs use bb code, cache pages use HTML. Jim I know, that is what I am trying to do is change a log color... not the cache page
  22. I had an idea for a mystery cache but it requires me to use BB Code in a log on the page. I tested it a couple weeks ago to be sure it worked and it did. Well now that I am trying to make the cache page I can't get it to work. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. Or did GC maybe drop the support of BB Code on cache logs? Anyone have any information or help?
