  1. Did you guys even watch the show, people keep saying they put it on the bottom of the car to see which cache she went to! That wasn't used for that at all, it was so they could keep showing up in town were she was at so it would look like she was a stalker.
  2. Don't buy a dell, there prices are reasonable until you try to upgrade it. To upgrade it you have to buy there stuff and they charge a fortune for it.
  3. I just got a new dog from my brother, he is a Burnese Mountain dog, he has never cached before but we are going to change that soon! His name is Hannibal, and no he was not named after Hannibal Lector he was named after a Phoenician Carthaginian general, one of the great military leaders of antiquity, who commanded the Carthaginian forces against Rome in the Second Punic War.
  4. I would like to do a cache that involves breaking codes to get the coordinates, do you think this would be so much trouble for the person that they wouldn't bother to look for the cache? The codes would be on the lines of cryptograms or something simular.
  5. I would like to do a multi stage cache that with each leg of the cache you get a new code to break. The first code would be fairly simple, but with each new leg of the cache the codes get harder and harder to break. My question is would this be too much trouble and would codes like cryptograms be too much of a bother?
  6. I would like to do a multi stage cache using codes and cyphers. The first stage of the cache would require solving a fairly easy code, once you found the cache you would be given a little more challenging code to break and so on until you finally reach the last cache. My question would be would this be too much for cachers to want to do, and would puzzles to solve like cryptograms be too much trouble?

  8. There is a dish that originated here in Springfield, Illinois at a local bar and now most restaurants here in town serve it, it’s called a horseshoe. The horseshoe is a toasted bun layed open on the plate with two hamburger patties on each one, then this is covered with french fries and topped off with a melted cheese sauce poured over the whole thing. The hamburger can also be substituted with various other meats such as buffalo chicken, roast beef or just about any meat you would like. So this is one of my favorites and only served here at home.
  9. I have always thought the GPSr thing was kind of silly, like the guy said in an earlier post ask for it in a store that way and no one will know what your talking about. I won't mention his name but there was a person on here who use to say GPS then all of a sudden he changed to GPSr, look what your peers can do to a guy!
  10. I am getting prepared to place a cache that I believe might be hard to find, it is very well camouflaged. The terrain will be no problem but I believe there will be cachers that won't find it. The containter it's in is done quite well, any ideas what I should rate the difficulty?
  11. I have been reading the forums for awhile now and have never seen anyone have as much trouble as this guy, everyone else doesn't seem to be having a problem, so it makes me wonder where the problem is really at!

  13. Yes Jamie I have been very lucky in the fact that none of the caches I have looked for have been MIA. The 29 finds that I have, have all been found on the first try also. Except for the caches that have a difficult puzzle to solve or math problem to figure out then I don't see that when given proper coordinates that this game is all that hard to do.
  14. I have only found 29 caches and I have never had a no find yet, it's not to difficult unless there is a puzzle to solve in order to get the coordinates, then sometimes it's a little more challenging. My gps has always got me to within 15 to 20 feet of the cache and since your not allowed to bury a cache then it has to be for the most part hidden in a hollow tree, under a fallen tree, or some other similar circumstance. So since my gps gets me that close there are only so many places to hide it in that area, so with a little effort it is usually pretty easy to find if you have the correct datum set!

Takeing the site off is the same as the court wanting to change the Pledge of Allegiance, and oh what a stink. If you are offended Don't look for it, BUT LET ME IF I WANT TO. Take a chance or you'll never know. Let your spirits soar! I totally agree with rldill, can the powers that be please tell me how this is a commercial cache! Also can you tell me why it even got listed if it's really a commercial cache? What do you guy's do check the cache before you allow it to be posted, then post it, then a couple days later decide it's not fit for the site. I have seen on here so many times with the game itself and travel bugs that this is just a game play it how you want, well it seems to me we play it how the powers that be want us to. I can see if it was promoting a business for monetary gains but I can't see how looking up bible trivia will hurt anyone. My daughter and I play this game because one of the most important things to me is spending time with her. My daughter is a very active kid, church activities, piano, singing lessons, karate and soccer just to name a few, so giving up geocaching wouldn't be that big of a deal, except we love to get out and enjoy nature. We do go to church and trivia caches of this nature would be a lot of fun for her. I personally am tired of the people in charge of archiving caches. Much more of this and my gps will go back to being used for traveling only.
  16. Dale I read all six of the logs on your finds, I didn't see that you mentioned in any of them your problem. If I had this problem I would have posted it in my log.
  17. quote:Originally posted by Kite & Hawkeye:Are you planning to move the cache? The point that I was trying to make was by placing a cache you get quite a few people visiting the same concentrated area, so the surrounding area around the cache takes a beating. I personally don't see the harm done by the article in the paper, I think the placement of the caches in question is what has caused the harm. People are going there looking for caches and whether intentional or not they have to be making an impact on the ground surrounding the cache. The cache that I have placed is off the trail and none of the plants are protected plants, just weeds. It would be a good idea to move it periodically to lessen the impact it has on the surrounding vegetation. It just seems that if anyone says anything bad about geocaching there written off as if they don't know what there talking about, the article made some valid points.
  18. I have noticed at my cache site that all the weeds have been trampled leading up to the cache and I have noticed this on alot of the caches that I have visited. The article mentions that one particular site had never shown any signs of visitors until it was posted on this web site, is this so hard to believe, I don't think so! Were my cache is hidden I don't think there would have ever been enough traffic there to trample all the weeds with out my cache being there. I have seen caches archived here for being religous in nature, but there are numerous caches on this site that are hidden in national parks but yet are never archived, and you would be hard pressed to get me to believe all of these were placed with the permission of the park district. 19. To me a cache is a cache and I have never went to a cache because I thought I was going to get something cool, I went for the hunt. Since I have been here it seems to me the powers that be are a little biased in what they judge as unsuitable.
  20. Wolfpack, Heather is the mole, the mole 2 is a rerun from last season, I watched it then.

  22. Boblog is probably an existing member here who is just trying to start an idiotic post to get attention. I also don't believe Boblog is a fireman because a fireman would know how to spell and also would not use terms such as jerkajoid, very immature, also a fireman would know that a lot of prescription medicines can't be taken with other prescription medicines because of allergic reactions to which some can kill you. That is why we have doctors and pharmacist who prescribe these to make sure you don't take any medicines with another medicine that can kill you! This guy is no fireman or he would know how stupid this is.
  23. Were can you buy mercator maps with or without the grid lines?
  24. Hey thanks for the reply Cashew Nut, I will try to explain a little better. If you place a waypoint on mapsend then place a another waypopint 10 miles to the south of the first waypoint using the compass icon on the tool bar it says there 10 miles apart, but if you get a ruler and measure it using the mile marker thing at the bottom of the page it is always off when there north to south. There right though when the 2 waypoints are east to west. [This message was edited by mdmax371 on July 06, 2002 at 11:50 AM.]
