  1. This. 99% of challenge caches I love. There are a few challenge caches that are problematic - especially ones the owner hasn't actually done themselves, because they are so impossible to do. There are a few I wouldn't do because they don't float my boat. But in the same way, I don't like 1/1 trads because I want to keep my D/T average high, and I'll save the 1/1 for when I'm no longer able to climb trees. So should we ban 1/1's to make room for physically demanding ones for me? Or ban tree-climbs to leave room for disabled friendly? You do the ones you want to do and are capable of safely doing, and ignore the rest. Which brings me to: No challenge caches that the owner doesn't qual for themselves - will keep the really ridiculous ones down Consider no challenge caches that require 'all caches in a certain area' - very few cachers like or are capable of 'all' types of caches and there are always a few problematic lost/needs maintenance/CO left the game that make them annoying Maybe have an attribute to make them more searchable. But aside from that first point, I can live with the way it was
  2. Hmmm... The problem is not the file, it's what is using the file. Viruses exploit flaws in software (PDF in PDF viewer, DOC in WinWord, TXT in Notepad, etc.) to execute and infect a computer. Such as when there's a pile of gibberrish appended to a ###-wpts.gpx file after the </gpx> - which should be the eof. But as I said, I'll no longer bother Groundspeak with such trivia.
  3. Done; no probs. Should add it was in 3 of my PQ's; none of which overlap on any waypoints so unlikely it was just a random string that triggered my heuristics.
  4. Payload was in the .zip from Groundspeak.. But I fully moderator's point - obviously my fault/problem and not Groundspeak, because what would I know? I'll go away now; was only passing this on for other's benefit.
  5. Did you run a full scan on your computer? Any other files infected? The files could have been infected on Groundspeak's servers, but they could also have been infected by your own computer while they were downloaded and written on your disk. nope - I'm clean ; just checked my logs - I run several layers of protection
  6. Every PQ I downloaded just now (4 of them) at approx 10:40 EST was infected with TrojanDownloader:Win32/Kadena.gen!plock - somebody please check this out!
  7. Wow factor, limit where they may be placed so not to take the place of a real physical geocache. Add a code phrase system similar to what some other geocache listing services offer and limit them to PMO. Allow them to be added/counted as finds. Assign Virtual reviewers similar to GSA with EarthCaches. I like good virtuals. Just my idea, I was fine with Challanges but saw them abused. I wish the faults could have been worked out. I just don't think Challanges replaced Virtuals, but a couple of mine did well. It was fun while it lasted. Yup. Except the code phrase bit; not a fan of that. A question that can only be answered onsite & not with streetview perhaps. Went through the reasons for scrapping; nothing that careful review won't fix, & even 'liar' & other improper trads & unknowns have been known to slip through the cracks; does that mean they should be scrapped as well??
  8. Add me to the "Grey DNF needs to go" camp. The rest is workable, though the trackable icons aren't much use for those with less than 20/20 vision. The D/T thing confuses me - at first it seemed like the higher D/Ts are blue, until I spotted on with D2=Orange & T1.5=Blue. A small beta test might have helped.....
  9. Could you post the full link please - can't find it from your post Thanks
  10. Same problem - not a happy camper, as planning properly really needs a combo of sat & map (=hybrid!!!) & topo, esp if you're not caching in areas with consistent satellite coverage or decent OSM. Plus not all of us have the same quality of highspeed you get in major urban areas. Another vote here for Upgrade=Downgrade
