Heh, as soon as i posted this in a forum site that I created, I got the same types of answers - "What if someone puts a bomb in them?" I was like, give me a break people. So when are we all ordering our suits that generate air, our UV tinted masks, and homes in bubbles? geez!

I marked a waypoint on my unti and the location comes up as: N 43º25.398 W080º26.341 On the cache search it is looking for a decimal conversion, is there a tool to do that for me? Same thing goes for my home co-ords. If the code above shows instead of the degree symbol, I tried ascii equivilant in HTML

I'll have to check the manual on setting it to WGS18 (still learning), but I should be receiving it before noon at work tomorrow so will have a peek at the unit and all while there Check for ticks? Wow, really? I ended up buying the Garmin eTrex Vista with some MetroGuide for Canada, a couple of travel bugs, and a couple of Geocache stickers I am really eager to place a cache or two Growing up in some very rural areas, I found many many very neat places to place one

I am very very eager to get out this weekend, I ordered my GPS and it should be here tomorrow. I have the weekend off like normal but also have Monday off so am wanting to dive right in... I have found a couple of caches in the area, around an hour radius from my home. Any starter tips? Suggestions on how to start, how many to look for in a day etc?

Servman, that sounds pretty good to me Especially since it's in Ontario - well I'm assuming

I just purchased a Garmin eTrex Vista and it says waterproof to 1 metre for 30 minutes. Just how waterproof are these things? If it happens to drop into a river I'm around, should I start hyperventilating or am I ok?

I am Canadian as well and I've heard the same thing about the US Armed Forces. I run a website that is global in it's user base so i hear all sorts of different things said. I am angry this morning as well, perhaps more so since it was our contrymen in a training excercise!!! One thing we do need to keep in mind is...we shouldn't be too hard on the US. I think they may have a higher rate of friendly fire incidents as they are involved in more battles and more media coverage than most other places. So while I am angry about our soldiers being killed and wounded, and I don't agree with them being there in the first place, I don't think we should all get really blameful. There is always risk in these types of things, and these soldier knew full well what the risks were...sadly... -
