  1. Congratulations to the recipients. That is one very nice coin and I love what it says. Don't know how I missed this thread - but glad I stopped by today.
  2. Mine arrived today. Hubby met Fed Ex at the door. I am very pleased. Hope to do a photo soon. Thank you to all for the hard work on this project.
  3. Yes congrats to the winners and hopefully the Ranch was a winner too!
  4. Using the netbook - another vote - this time tiger. Thank you Steph!
  5. Voted and my animal was a cow. Hoping they win!
  6. My bet is you won't be lugging any home? Want to join in the pool? LOL
  7. Yup - me too but my delivery estimate is 4/22. I can live with it but waiting anxiously!
  8. Missed this thread somehow but both of the coins I have seen on here are very nice. I seem a theme of deferring to some art from real US coins - which of course are awesome. Thanks for sharing and doing your mystery thing. I, too, would be honored and am on the list.
  9. Today, April 7th, I got home from work and found a package on my table. It was addressed to Ms Amara. Just shy of 5 months from the mailing date (11/12/09), the package arrived. Ms Amara and I will open it on her very next visit. I am sure she will be thrilled and enjoy the chocolate and candy cane too. I have written grodan & fiabus and asked about sending a coin in return for the extra Ms Amara received. Thank you to all!
  10. Haven't posted here in a long time (save for tonight - this is my second post). Still enjoying the coins but just little time. Today, I received an plain white envelope from T.G. Fairy. I realized this was probably a mystery something but where I enjoy pathtags too - who knew. I opened the envelope and was waiting for a letter or something. Nothing but a piece of very pretty pink paper and a oaktag board sealed square. Sure enough - inside was a special coin which said "Thanks for Being a Geocoin Fairy"! It had Number 036 on the back. This coin is very beautiful with a glitter on the front of preportions I have not seen. The glitter actually looks like gems inserted into the design. A very fine quality coin indeed. I wished my camera would work to post a photo of deserving quality. Regretfully it will not. I would, however, like to express my heartfelt and humble appreciation for the gift of this coin. It will forever be held by me and passed on to my Granddaughter Ms. Amara in years to come. For whatever reason you bestowed upon me this gift, I am awed and humbled. Thank you! Happy Easter everyone!
  11. Got one in hand - it is lovely, beautiful and awesome!
  12. I see that my thread was resurrected after being dormant for awhile. And actually, after I posted this thread, I started thinking the same thing- why not make a coin? Through responses to this thread, I found out that there were some breast cancer coins that had been made in the past that are no longer being minted and thought maybe it was time for a new one. So I'm actually working with a vendor on a breast cancer coin, based on a design I had in mind. And I think it's a win-win situation because the vendor is going to donate a portion of each coin sold to charity, so the coin will support breast cancer, plus there'll get to be a new breast cancer coin out there to raise awareness and to commemorate something that obviously is personally meaningful to many of us. It's still early in the project so I hadn't posted anything on the forums yets, but since this question came up, it seemed appropriate to let people know that something is in the works... Will be truly interested ! Please, please - add me to the interested list!
  13. edited to add, I appreciate the cointest, but please don't consider this an entry...I like having the opportunity to talk about my "boyz", and besides, I've already won so much by adopting these 2 rescue dogs! Thanks for sharing Dr. N - you are the best! And - only a real dog person would have recognized this uncropped sweetie! Enjoy the new Boy! Congrats on your adoption.
  14. Former Boxer breeder, showed them AND did rescue for over 25 years before all these rescue groups came along - this is one lucky dog! The ideal of a placement for a "rescue" dog is what happened here.........no fostering, no moving the dog from state to state - matched to a new/good home and settling in. Nothing better and my idea of an ideal placement. I am amazed at the adoption fees for some of these services. That aside........... Enjoy your new baby. He is a lucky fellow and a boxer buddy is usually a friend for life (bearing unforseen problems). We still own a boxer and probably always will (until I can't walk one any mroe). Cheers!
  15. Don't use the PM feature very much but PM sent. Let me know GCG if you don't get it. Thanks for the cointest. Congrats to all the entries - nicely done by all.
  16. Eartha - right on about the closeness of the Ebay item to the Geocoin. It is far to close. The art work, however, of the horse and the cross has been used for many years by the Masonic order. My Dad (who has been deceased for years) was a member of the Knights Templar. I have many pieces of memorabilia with the exact same knight artwork and items with the Red Cross. Although the Masonic order often made coins - I don't happen to have one with this combination (from years ago). The coin offered on Ebay clearly carries features which are very close to the Geocoin (track information and a place for the number). Ebay may close the listing but it is not being offered as a Geocoin. It is being offered as a Masonic coin. Nothing is mentioned about it being "trackable". I suspect some of the bidders are from the Masonic order rather than Geocachers. A search of Knights Templar (without using the word coin) will reveal a lot of items with the knight and cross artwork (very similar to the coin and which historically has belonged to the Masonic Order for hundreds of years). The violation here appears to be someone using a die from which a geocoin was stuck and which has the track at information on it and a spot for the tracking number.
