  1. We have used all different kinds of containers. A fishing tackle box, a metal first aid box, a big plastic mayonaise bottle, and of course tupperware. All of our hidden caches appear to be fine. We did, however, use an ammo box for our latest hidden cache "Your boots were made for cachin". I don't think the container is the controversy; use whatever you want. How 'bout what you're gonna put in it! Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
  2. quote: My goal is to get Upinyachit to visit my Watership Down cache by year's end...it's not far from one of theirs, anyway. Now that you got my attention Shilfiell, your Watership Down cache looks like a fun one to do. I feel like going to search for it now, but Candie would think I'm crazy. LOL Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
  3. Hmmmmmmm, interesting member name, upnya, sounds really familiar. There is only one UPINYACHIT. Coincidence? Did you visit our cache out there in Indiana? LOL Our feet go where the caches are!
  4. quote: Further more, I move that people must be charter members to be able to even post on the forums! Yeah! That's not too cool to say. Just because one member might upset you, don't judge the rest of us. Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
  5. I had such a goodtime caching today with Casey; we set a goal to have 100 finds by Christmas. I'm not too sure if we can do it or not. The weather and my job play big roles. I just feel this gives us a little more ambition. Plus we have nothing to lose except a little weight. LOL Well anyways, if you have any geocaching goals, maybe you can post them here. It would be cool to see the goals, if any, that other members might have. Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
  6. I have noticed that some members have over 600 posts in a couple of months. Maybe an (FA) forums anonymous would be more appropiate! LOL It just seems some members are worried about what others think and are more hooked on the forums. What do you think, can the forums be addicting too? What would you do if you the site went down for a while and can't post? I am sure there is medication for forum withdrawls. LOLOLOLOL Or The members at the other site would be happy to hear from you........ Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
  7. quote: Around here, it seems that we have a lot of goecachers that have lost contact with the rest of us. No forum entries, no cache logs, no contact. What do see in your area as the active participating lifespan of the average geocacher? When we first started caching back in March of this year, we have seen a lot of cachers fall out of the sport. Even my own kids! They use to wait for me to get off of work and be waiting in the driveway to take them on a cache. Nowadays, I have to pull teeth to get them to go. Maybe they are just burnt out and the cold weather doesn't help either. We have total of 71 finds since March. I would love to be one of those members that have over 500 finds or more. I'm not burnt out at all and plan on hiding another kareoke cache soon. That was fun to put together and seems to be pretty popular. Our feet go where the caches are!
  8. My wife, kids, relatives, and coworkers have all told me that I got issues. Not a day goes by without geocaching mentioned. I am either wanting to find a cache close by, or looking for the next cool spot to hide one. I just feel some people just don't get the sport. They either don't have a computer or think it's to hard to figure out how to use a GPS. My wife thinks I need GA (geocaching anonymous) because I seem to be more hooked then others. Could this be true? Geocaching taking over my world! Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
  9. .......When you make your wife get up out of bed on a Saturday morning with a hangover to go hide a cache. OR .......When you pay your kids to go geocaching with you. Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!

  11. We know this is a geocaching website, but we wanted to add a little extra fun. Some members might not like this idea because the cache page has sound to it. If you have cable, it's not a problem. Dial up might take a little longer to download. Please keep all comments positive! A lot of time and energy went into this cache and we don't want a member to bust our bubble. LOL After all, it seems to be a hit already. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=40867 Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
  12. We are up in your $#!+!!! You know, caches. Just a little cache humor! Candie Our feet go where the caches are!
  13. Our name (UPINYACHIT) is self explanatory! We just happened to use this name on yahoo, ea sports, etc. When we stumbled across n*vicache.com we thought , how perfect...... Now we use this member name on both geocaching websites. Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
  14. We placed a george dollar in our vacation cache in Pueblo, Co. The bill has made it's way all the way to WA. How cool is that? http://www.wheresgeorge.com/report.....4834ab5 When we find a george bill, we put it into the next cache that we find. There has been times where we came across the same george dollar that we already found. For example we put a george dollar into one of our new caches, then a couple of weeks later, we found our same bill in a different cache. At that time, Candie and I didn't realize it was one of our bills and didn't understand why we couldn't log it in. We finally figured that out, then spent the dollar at a local store. Sometimes it is good to take the bill and spend it somewhere; that way it gets into circulation and brings new members! That's how we found out about geocaching...through a George! Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
  15. quote: All of the above. I agree with you UMC. Umc I just noticed you have 685 post in about a month. Instead of sir cache alot, you are sir talk alot. LOL All in fun Duane Our feet go where the caches are!
  16. My paycheck depends on the weather. It's just really hard to build houses in the rain, snow, and the wind. I have to admit though, I have shut down the whole framing crew because the weather was so bad. Then went out and found a couple of caches. LOL I have been in construction since high school. So thats all I know how to do is build. The only reason I am on the computer now is because my wife introduced me to geocaching I still have alot to learn about computers and need my wifes help often. I do, however, know how to look up caches and log finds. I also know how to use the forums and gain alot of useful information. I learn something new here at the forums everyday. Our feet go where the caches are!
  17. quote:You don't know about the "other" site? Hee hee! Actually there are two (or more) other sites, but there is only one "other" site. A quick internet search will give you the answer. We are members of both sites and enjoy them both. This site is more popular and has a lot of loyal members that don't even bother checking out any other geocaching websites. Alot of members here pay the charter membership and back up Jeremy to the fullest. Thirty dollars a year for a membership is a fair price. The other site has a lot to offer too, though. There might not be as many caches listed, but it has a lot of other useful information and great links. With this sport growing so much, we will continue to use both sites to obtain all the information we can. Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
  18. quote: One site, other site, both sites. Just keep caching! Good idea Mopar! Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
  19. I can guarantee that Upinyachit has one of the most intriguing geocaching experiences ever. We just happen to stumble across a cache we weren't even looking for. We came across the part 2 of a two part cache called the "Night Stalker". We've done plenty of posts about this and I don't want to get too far into it, but you can check out our log on the other site for more details. With this being said, a member would have to understand where we are coming from in regards to the other site. In conclusion, Upinyachit just happened to find the other site first. We feel now that both sites are beneficial to all geocachers. Usually people find this site first. It might be a coincidence that we found our home town geocaching site, but we are willing to spread the word for both! All we know is that we are very much entertained and having fun! We will continue to support both sites no matter what! Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
  20. quote: I'm confused as to why anyone would use the other site. I just went and searched for caches by zip code. I live in Portland, OR where there are right now over 700 within 100 miles. The closest one on that site was in a city 1 1/2 hours away. I say let people do whatever they want at that site. They are missing out on quite a lot if they are only using that site, and if they are using both, what's the point of the other site? quote: If you want to list on other sites then then go ahead, but it's more work and I don't think you're reaching very many more people. Isn't that the point. To reach as many people as possible. Geocaching.com is based on the west coast and the other site is based on the east coast. Thats why you probably won't find as many caches near your area. Here in New york we have plenty of caches on the other site. It's a matter of the people on this site listing theirs over there that are in your area. That is why you won't find any on the other site where you are. The other site is simply the underdog, because of the word geocaching. This site pops up when you do a search on the internet first. So obviously this site is more popular. If there isn't a profit to be gained, then what's the difference to which site you go to. We can understand a member might think it's a lot of work to list their caches on both sites, but we disagree. A quick copy and paste does the trick. We found the other site first through a george bill and didn't even know about this site until we found about 50 caches over there. Then someone emailed us and told us about this site. We listed some found and all of our hidden caches over here in matter of minutes. Now we log and hide all of our caches on both sites all the time. They do have other services other than caches; news, geocaching updates, and some cool links as well as the forums. There are helpful people every where, why would you wanna miss out? 21. What's wrong with having links to other geocaching sites? Originally posted by Geospotter; quote: You could ask SEARS why they don't have links to JC PENNEY, etc. In business you don't disparage the competition, you send people to them if their product is better for the customer, you don't help them with their business plan, you don't help them with their advertising, and you certainly don't allow them to steal from you. You also listen to your customers and provide what they want at a fair price. I'd say Jeremy has a pretty good handle on this... and quote: If you count the other one we have one-and-a-half databases. First of all, you are comparing these sites to businesses that have product-for-profit in mind. I don't know about Jeremy's true intentions; whether or not profit is intended, but we do know that the other site is not like that. Second of all, we thought that these sites were intended to be for sporting or hobby activities. You know, just plain fun! GEOCACHING IS A SPORT, and these sites provide information in order to geocache. How is anyone stealing anything from either site if there is a link to both? Steal what? Members? Someone's idea, maybe, or stealing caches, but that isn't going to affect this site or whether or not there is profit made. We also don't feel that we are "customers" to these sites. Us cachers are what keeps these sites going! If we aren't hiding caches, then what are the sites for then? INFORMATION, THAT'S WHAT. You can't cache if you don't have the info. As far as your last quote about the databases, could you please explain? We don't understand; we go to the other site and there is plenty to browse. To tell you the truth, the other site has better looking cache pages than this one. It also has chat, instant messaging, forums that don't have rude people on 'em, etc. The owner is a great person and DOES NOT HAVE "PROFIT" IN MIND! HE HAS A JOB! LOLOLOL WOULDN'T IT BE MORE PRODUCTIVE FOR EVERYONE IF WE ALL JUST GOT ALONG?? I'LL SAY IT AGAIN... Our feet go where the caches are!
  22. Originally posted by Rubbertoe: quote: Second, the reason he doesn't link to any other geocaching sites is probably because most of them can't even compare with what this site has to offer. Everyone pretty much knows that if you wanna list or find a cache, you come here. Sure, there might be local or state based geocaching groups - but he can't go linking to every Tom, Dick, and Harry that creates a user group. What's wrong with having links to other geocaching sites? We are members of two popular geocaching websites and love them both. The "other site" just happens to be based in our home town, and we have gotten a lot out of it. It might not be as popular or have as many members as this site, but the people are great! We have been to two geocaching picnics where members from both sites get along and have great times! The owner of the other site is NOT a "Tom, Dick and Harry" either. You don't even know him! We have met him personally and he is helpful and gives back to the geocaching community. (You should have seen the two gps' that he donated for the raffle! MINT!!! Too bad we didn't win.) The site does has great features like this site does, too and is by far NOT another "user group". We will continue to appreciate both sites like we have been. The respect and information we obtain from this site is wonderful, but it is such a turn off when someone is so one-sided when they don't have ALL the facts. Having a link between the two wouldn't be so bad. The other site offers a link to this one, what's the big deal. We do, however, agree with no pop up's and the site being too commercial. Both sites are fine just the way they are! Two's company; three's a crowd! Duane N Candie Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
  23. I just hate the fact that I have to be a normal member of society and get up and go to work! LOL I would rather be caching!!!!! LOLOL Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!

  25. I drove from Rochester N.Y., to Pueblo Co., with my wife, four kids, and a dog. I ended up with about 5000 miles on my truck when we got back. We had a great time, but next time I think we will fly. Thats only if I can convince my wife to step onto the airplane. Anyways we found four caches in the great state of Colorado. Wish we could have found more on our vacation, but we are happy with the caches we did find. Duane Upinyachit Our feet go where the caches are!
