  1. Yes, but as another thread on here states, this increased power will not be available to civilian users. This is only for military applications. The increased power is being accomplished by launching sats with the increased power. The existing sats will remain at the same power as it is right now.

  2. This can easily be avoided by turning off your preview pane in Outlook Express and deleting any mail that have wierd attachments you do not recognize. Especially if the email is from someone you do not know. I strongly suggest you get Norton Antivirus and keep the definitions up to date and you should have no problems.

  3. I was a afraid of leaving the Vista in the woods too. But I leave it around my neck with the included lanyard, no problem

  4. The geoclipping works well if you follow the readme instructions. I have had no problems using it. It's a bit convoluted how you need to have the palm desktop software running as well as IE on the cache page you wish to transfer, before opening the geoclippping program, but after you do that it works fine.

  5. Well, you probably need to excuse the over-exuberance of the guy that developed this software for his fellow cachers. I find it amazing that someone would take this much time to develop something this involved for a sport or hobby. And now he is willing to share it with no expectation of payment.

I know if I was successful with something like this I would want to share it too.

We can be as equally guilty be perpetuating this thread with constant blabbing and knocking worthy threads to page 2.

  8. It's an awesome program. I tried it out today and it sure beats lugging around sheets of paper for every cache you plan on visiting. You can download the decoder and cut and paste the hint if you really need it. I see no problem in digging up old topics. Some people may be interested in it and some may not. If you're not, don't read it. Why does this bother some people?

  9. I have been caching in some heavy brush lately and have yet to get a tick on me. I'm in Tampa, FL. If anyone else is in FL, where have you seen the biggest tick problem? I would be interested in knowing what trees or environment in FL are known to have ticks.

  10. Inceptor,

You may want to check out www.gpsdiscount.com. I just got my vista from JA AIR on Ebay and it was $285 plus $17 for second day air. I think you may get it a couple bucks cheaper from the gpsdiscount website.

FYI, I highly recommend JA AIR. They are a power seller on Ebay and they have an impeccable feedback rating. They ship promptly and the unit is packed well. You can call and get a tracking number from them and they do sell Garmin accessories at reasonable prices.

You may want to take advantage of the "Buy it Now" option on Ebay. Some of those auctions end up costing more after the bidding war ends. That's what I did for my brand new Vista

  11. As far as signature items goes, I would like to get some high quality vinyl stickers made with the logo and my username on them for placement in the caches I visit. Does anyone know of a online sticker or sign company that will do this for me? I priced it here locally and a walk-in sign shop and it is a bit pricey. Any suggestions??

  12. I have the Vista and I am very satisfied with my purchase. It is small enough for hiking and caching and the detail on the basemaps and metroguide is completely awesome. Although I don't use the mapping once I get close to the cache. I just switch it over to navigation. I was looking memory capacity, mapping and size. This way I can use it in the car while driving and while caching. I have about 40 waypoints downloaded and metroguide maps from Gainesville down to Ft Myers and I have only used 12% of my memory. So I have some room for more maps for those long driving trips up north. The Etrex line is a bit awkward using, but after sitting in front of the TV playing with it, it does get quite easy to use. Garmin does put out a good product.

As far as batteries, I went with a couple sets of NiMH's and a charger from the Thomas Distributing website that was mentioned here on this forum. Great shipping and service from those folks. Highly recommended.

  13. That rapture link goes to your cache, not the rapture cache. I'm thinking about doing an underwater one in the Keys!

As far as snorkeling down 25 feet after swimming that far offshore. That is definitely not for the novice. I would only attempt this one with a tank.

  14. What if you just made it a members only cache? I have yet to see any of these listed near me, but it seems that it may help the issue. If you are desperate enough to steal an ammo can. I doubt they would pay $3 to be a member here.
