  1. True. It would make a memorable cache, though -- families getting all covered in sand. It could work. The trick is figuring out where it could work. Perhaps at the beach house property where Blackbeard was known to bury treasure... That being said, the idea of a cache buried in the sand sounds cool at first ... then I think about the fact that my GPS never brings me within more than 20 feet of the cache accurately. Am I supposed to dig a 20 foot whole to find it? That is why you should have a good hint on where to start looking.
  2. Found the one that I had seen. It is in Jamaica. I was trying to plan a trip there that here happened and seen the cache. It is called Doctors Cave Cache and it sounds cool. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=842468c2-ff59-4a7f-8ec7-ec28712dcdfc
  3. I am glad that I get to go back with my caching friends and do it all over again.
  4. I have seen a cache that is buried in the sand at a resort. The cache page tells you where to dig it up at. I will try and find the GC number for it again.
  5. GET AWAY FROM YOUR COMPUTER, JORANDA!!! But I have to log my finds for the day and plan me out a Illinois Rt66 powertrail.
  6. I don't think running 50 feet to a cache will cut down on the numbers or the time of getting them all. It will be a blast just to be outdoors and enjoying time with out of state caching friends. Any reason to get away from the computer works for me.

    TB Tattoo

I have no tattoos so I guess I don't get it, although it sounds neat. But there is something about having a serial number stamped on me that gives me the creeps. It is no different from the chip they put in you when you was born.
  8. So far it looks like they are going to have a huge turn out. Not everyone dislikes powertrails.
  9. I'm curious, what is/was his understanding of the "right answers"? Factually correct answers? Well I am sure that is what he meant by right answers. Answers that was for the ECs.
  10. What do you mean by that? No answer, no picture, no log. You are his brother, right? Can you say what happened to get him permanently banned? Long story short, He got in trouble for maintaining his ECs the way he thought they should be maintained. He was against armchair logging and when he thought it was a armchair logger, he would delete the log since they either didn't post a picture of them at the EC site or send the right answers. That was the start of it, it just ballooned from there.
  11. I would like to make the event and find the 1500 caches plus the alien head too. i will be keeping a eye on the airline prices. I still have our stamp too.
  12. What do you mean by that? No answer, no picture, no log.
  13. He got a bum deal if you ask me. Everyone thinks they know the story but they haven't gotten a clue. Moral of the story is that you are not allowed to maintain your caches the way that you set them up.
  14. Looks like the E.T. Highway maybe on its way back. Alien Search Party - The 2nd Invasion! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=735be86a-0275-41b7-b74a-50e51c80ffaf In fact, the buzz in the airwaves leads us to believe that roughly 1500 caches will appear during this particular week sometime. I can't wait, I'll be flying back for more.
  15. I too wish they get the maps fixed. Aren't they still in beta? Maybe they brought it out too soon before they got all the bugs worked out.
  16. Bingo! Give that man a kewpie doll! One problem with those I found out the hard way. They are not really water tight. I have one out in the wild now that I have had to put a bison inside of because the log was soaked. They did make one even before that fake rock that looked the same but the container had a srew on lid that was pretty much water tight.
  17. If gas prices keeps going up like it is, who knows where geocaching will be in ten years let alone in five.
  18. Good point! I have always wanted to place a cache in the Grand Canyon. I could use this site for that cache and also use geocaching.com for most other caching! Some one beat you to it. It is a cache hidden in the Grand Canyon that sounds like the log book is in with a sign in box. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=b581a457-f760-40d0-a4df-afd6a7b74343 GCNP Bright Angel. Sometimes it don't hurt to ask to place a cache. They might let you.
  19. The 26 page topic about the other site that is still open here shows quite the opposite. Just the other day I asked people to go look at Navicache if you want to see what a featureless, stagnant geocache site looks like. The other sites are competing with Geocaching.com in my eyes. I do love that in their ad promoting their own site, the Garmin GPS in the ad has a Geocaching.com cache page open on it as Isonzo Karst pointed out. Giving away geocoins that can only be tracked on Geocaching.com to try to get people to list new caches on their site is too funny. Priceless. The coin that you won for that is a non trackable garmin 62 series coin. The only site that the coin has on it is garmin.com/geocache. It was cool to win one though.
  20. I like your post 100+. I feel the same way.
  21. I had to add that to my favorites link. How I have something to copy and paste when I log caches that are the same. It looks like I took the time to write something up.
  22. I hope they do bring it back. I would be looking forward to going back and getting to do it again. Last I read, if they leave them out of the mountain passes, everything will be ok with the snowplows and trucks. When I did them it would of been nice to see a couple of breaks along the way.
  23. I had 906 but now I am down to 878. It is had to find caches to give them to.
  24. Want his email address and he can tell you his story?
  25. Suprised this hasn't been locked yet. They don't like bring up his story here.
