  1. Hello again - I visit Reno frequently since my sister lives there but haven't cached much yet in the area. So I will ask her what areas are more historical. I know that of course, Virginia City is great, it is just south of Reno and is a great "tourist" town. They have lots of neat caches. I am into Wild Horses and there are caches with this theme along with all the BLM land around that has the herds that roam wild. Mt. Rose a local mountain, and of course Truckee is close, with Donner Lake, which is the site of the Donner Party which has a great Museum. So... I am sure that is lots of information to give you some ways to go. You could spend the whole time at Tahoe just traveling around the lake doing a caching/hiking/shopping/history trip also. Have fun, and do not hesitate to contact me thru geocaching.com. Carla 4JCSeek&Find
  2. Hello - I am referring you to talk to a "Scoobert" he knows the Tahoe - Hwy 50 and surrounding mountains very well and has placed some wonderful hikes with nice caches. These can be somewhat strenuous, so talk with him. I have placed some easier more historical caches, but they are not "right" in the tahoe area but in the Silver Lake area which is about 25 minutes from Tahoe. So look for my caches for history on the Mormon Emigrant Trail which is fascinating. Also HarKanGeo has the "The Elephant" which is nice. There are lots of great caches in the Tahoe area both North and South shore. Reno is High desert, whereas, Tahoe of course is forest. Check out the Lighthouse cache on the the Lake along with Emerald Bay for some historical caches and good virtuals for your friends. Get a 4x4 truck or SUV if you can, will help. Some fun virtuals and caches, such as SUV 1 - Brook Trout which you can get to with a good 2wd drive hi-clearance. Your noncacher friends could do with beautiful views of lakes, valleys and just high mountains. Carla 4JCSeek&Find
  3. Well my question got answered before I pushed the enter. I will "talk" with the local reviewer. Don't know about this time since the event is already listed but we plan on doing this quarterly so....a team sounds like a solution. Thanks
  4. Is there a way to put this suggestion in somewhere to be looked at as a change/addition to how things are done?
  5. My husband and I and two other couples (all are active geocachers with geocaching names) are putting on an event in our local county and only one of us did the cache page. So that couple is the only one that can claim the event under their owned caches. It would be nice if the other two could get credit as their "own event" also. Yeah! well sometimes the numbers matter, would be nice to have an event listed on the profile under list of items owned for each one of us. Is there anyway this can happen? Carla 4JCSeek&Find
  6. Thanks for all the great information. So based on what I read, I will do a Waymarking.com for this benchmark. Should I also submit to NGS the benchmark? I just want to do everything correctly that should be done, besides continuing to learn. My husband thinks I am "a little off" getting so excited about metal markers in the middle of nowhere .... but hey I think it is fun. Too bad the benchmark pictures don't upload to the geocaching gallery, sure would be nice.
  7. Hello - I am a newbie benchmark researcher/finder and recently I found a benchmark that is not NGS but US Dept. Interior BLM, Cadastral Survey located at (N38 46.687 W119 55.379). I tried based on my limited knowledge to research this marker but to no avail. I would like to log, most likely on Waymarking but not sure. Please let me know what to do next. And for future reference what are the steps if I find a non NGS benchmark. Also, I have uploaded some pictures from logged NGS benchmarks on geocaching but the pictures do not show up in my profile page under gallery. Is this just the way it is? or have I done something wrong. I sure would like to view all my uploaded pictures. Thanks to the 2oldfarts for their thread that told me how to add a picture to a thread.
  8. Ok! last time I realized I was signed in under an alter ego. But, I just tried AGAIN to upload a pic and got this error response We can't find "http://www.Waymarking.com/gallery/upload.aspx?f=1&guid=4f4e7149-77f8-4462-b90b-ac7ffb2dd6af&gid=3 I hope this helps any "techy" experienced waymarker to give me advise on what I am doing wrong or any "quirks" Thanks again - Carla 4JCSeek&Find
