  1. Thanks for the help! I looked at the DeLorme Earthmate GPS and it does look pretty cool. I guess from the lack of responses the Meridian must be an antique. After 7 years I am currently on my second pda, fifth or sixth cell phone, second digital camera, second or third laptop computer, second home computer, third cordless home phone.... So I guess I can't complain about the magellan! John
  2. Haven't been geocahing in 6 years (yeah.. shame on me) but went out yesterday and had a great time. Micros seem to be very popular now! However I started wondering if my Meridain Gold was still up to modern technology (8yr old unit at least?). My unit fires up just fine, maybe a little slower than I think it used to, the backlight is a little discolored (blueish color vs. white color) but it has been that way for a few years, the unit locks on mutiple satellites, and seems to do just about everything else that it used to. I don't need any more bells or whistles....just wonder if new units are more accurate? Just wondering.... John
  3. I have seen this same question in one form or another over the past few weeks, and I keep wondering isn't this an individual sport/hobby? This decision should be between you and the owner of the cache. Just my opinion. Count it how you like.
  4. I agree with MountainMudbug. Ignore them. We visited this virtual last summer and we still talk about it. Read the logs for yourself. Echo This was just as much fun as finding a traditional cache or maybe more. "Dream no small dreams, they have no magic."
  5. Just wondering. Which came first the ammo or the ammo box? Suggestion. How about if we require all caches to be located at golf driving ranges? No containers needed just drop off a golf ball and pick up a new one?
  6. 1. Yes-No 2. Dead On- 40sec slow 3. MeriGold 4. 4.06 Mine was off by 40 sec. so I did an reinitialization and now it is right on. Don't know when it started varying.
  7. I voted other because I think its rating gives you a clue in the difficulty. I checked out the clue and had to smile. I would probably go to this one just to see it! My concern is with a few criticisms about one of the cachers posting it as a find even though they didn’t actually climb the tree. Being an individual sport/hobby I believe that decision was theirs to make. Not ours to arm chair quarterback. That should be between him and the owner of the cache. BTW, he has now changed it to a not found.
  8. Why is it too late? Can't it be done again in another location?
  9. Here's one that I thought was interesting! N32.168118 W110.852910 Located in Tucson, AZ Recently featured in a truck commercial.
  10. Now that you have the idea go out and look for those iridium flares! I've been doing it for a couple years and it still amazes me when I see one. You should especially try to see one during daylight hours! It has to be bright but it is so cool when it happens.
