  1. It's my understanding ,that the 60CSx does not have D's That's not true. I have gotten D's (in Maryland) with 35 showing a hollow bar as late as last Sunday. Rick
  2. Those batteries will work just fine. You might want to buy some 2500 mAh batteries just for that little extra. I've been using Energizers in both my GPS and digital camera with no problems at all. Rick
  3. I just put a 1 gig on order at Amazon today, and my conformation email said the expected ship date was May 30. Needless to say I'm hoping for sooner than that. I also ordered a 5-in-1 card reader direct from Sandisk, and they came back and said 4-6 weeks for that! Just can't win! Rick
  4. I may have missed something, even in re-reading the thread. Is anyone loading maps to a 1 GB card THROUGH the 60CSx with no problems? (512 MB cards?) I keep getting the impression the successful loads are all being dome through card readers. Rick
  5. My 60CSx, which I got yesterday, was showing d's today about noon when I was "playing" with it. I had a hollow bar on 33. Also I'm running the latest release firmware, since that was the first thing I did after receiving the unit. Rick
  6. I'd almost bet that if Garmin changed the number of segments you could load, you could be loading it all on a 2GB card by the end of next year! Rick
  7. I just looked at Amazon.com and they are also accepting pre-prders. The price was about $59 though. Rick
  8. SInce GPS is supposed to be world wide, are you sure your receiver is working? See if you can find someone else with a reciever and see if they get a signal. Rick
  9. I looked and was disappointed in the layout and prices. I can get a CD with the US for about $100 and probably load a bigger area than they are going to sell me for about $86. I guess I'm wondering why I'd buy a preload? Rick
  10. That was a great review, thanks. It also comes just in time since I expect to order a 60CSX next week. Rick
  11. That's the reason I traded up to a Garmin 60 series. I went on a 10K hike and it was mostly under tree cover. I lost signal SO much the walk registered about 4.5K, and when I got a signal the error reported was huge! Since I do a lot of walking under tree cover I plan on moving up to a 60CSX shortly for the more sensitive chip set. Rick
  12. Well it may not be the antenna, but I also do Volksmarching and have used a GPS to both keep me on track and keep from getting lost. I started using a eTrex Legend, but gave up after a 10K through the woods recorded a total of less than 5K! I switched to a 60CS and have lost signal less than a dozen times. I'm getting ready to move up to the 60CSX just because the under tree reception is so important to me. Rick
  13. it looks like the icon for the electronic compass. That's the same one I get on my 60CS when the electronic compass is turned on. Rick
  14. I was out looking to replace some 2300 Ah batteries about a month ago, and that is when I found the 2500's. Getting real good results with them in both my GPS and digital camera. Rick
  15. Do you have the electronic compass on? I fornd on my 60cs turning the compass off sloved that problem. Rick
