  1. When I have questionable logs I email the cache logger and explain why I have questions. Responses have been: a young person who now have there own account (log stands), person checking out there past and just logging late (log stands), Checker who logged in error (they removed the log), no response (log deleted).
  2. I've had them approved in a few days to less then an hour. You have to sure that you didn't just create it but that you submitted it for review.
  3. I really enjoy Cemetery caches. We are careful not to walk on the graves and like to read the stones. I also own 4 such caches. They get a lot of good remarks from the finders.
  4. PB jars don't hold up well in the desert sun but do in other locations.
  5. Set up a route last night about 250 miles long without any problem. Created the PQ downloaded it my GPS and used it today. I using Win 10 and Chrome. Check your list of routes you just might find it there.
  6. I also want cachers to post NM on my caches as this tells me to take a look and fix any problems that may exist. Depending on which cache is involved I will check out the cache when a DNF is posted. I post NM on any cache I find that needs it, a full log is not one of my reasons to do so as I try and have replacement log sheets with me. I will not replace a missing or damaged cache. I won't normally post a NM on a cache I didn't find as I feel that how do I know if it needs maintenance if I didn't find it. I also have no problems posting a NA I've had COs get upset on my posting a NM, but I always feel that the CO's problem not mine. I think the answer to such a CO is "Then do the maintenance".
  7. I do and I post a note so that the cache owner knows the cache is OK and that I still appreciate their efforts.
  8. I like to revisit a couple of caches as I love where they are. One is "Among Crystals" which takes me to an area that Geodes can be found, although not easy to get to.
  9. My oldest is "Oregon Mine which I DNFed on 8/21/04 and found on 10/28/17 for 13 years 2 months and 7 days. Interesting when checking this out just now, I realized I had made an error in the found log on the date of the DNF so edited the log to the correct date.
  10. When I started in 2002 the swag thing was much better and in a way I sort of miss it. I very rarely trade swag anymore, but once in a while I find something I like so I always have a few trade items with me. I mostly hide regular size caches and always equip them with swag and usually a TB when I hide them. Anymore I don't replenish the swag in my existing caches for the many reason that have been stated. The way I look at it is I enjoy hiding caches with swag, and really don't care what others do.
  11. When I started, in 2002, the only choice was a hand held Garmin GPS V still use it today as it always works, has 24 battery life and is tough. I then got a NUVI for in vehicle use. They don't seem to hold up as I am on my 3rd one. However I can down load PQs and thus caches pop up as I drive and I can find all kinds of goodstuff non geocaching related . I then joined the modern age and got a smart phone. It is by far easier to us to cache then any other. Just left the Arctic Circle and found caches there. Used the NUVI with a PQ to bring me to the area, used the handheld to find the caches. Used the smart phone as a paper weight.
  12. Ive seen a number of peanut-butter jars that have failed especially the lids, will stick with my Metamucil containers.
  13. I found a pink glass Tomahawk once! Still have it.
  14. I have had no luck with Lock N Lock either. All of the Lock N Lock and Tupperware have failed in less then two years. On a 19 cache series of mine I used Lock N Lock, AmmoCans, metal cookie cans and Plastic Screw top Metamucil containers. All the Lock N Lock have been replaced. None of the Ammo cans, metal cookie cans or Metamuucil containers have been replaced although the metal cookie cans are getting hard to open. I have had Metamucil containers out for 15 years. Oh, I live in the Mojave Dessert so water is not a big deal but heat and sun are.
  15. Clyde has helped me several times. Great service
  16. I have found CDs in caches, I listen to them then some I keep and some I leave in other caches. I also have found a flash drive which no way would I plug it into my computer. I did plug it into an old computer I had and not using but it wouldn't load or open. SAid all this in my log and left it in another cache.
  17. There is no way to ask someone to let you replace their boring cache. However a Nice, Polite request including a description of the cache you wish to place to the CO won't hurt anything. I have an idea for a cache that I think is great that is too close to another cache. Sent the CO an email, never heard back, oh well will just have to wait or make it a Multi with the start point at the interesting spot.
  18. It would allow me to read the GPS or smart phone without having to worry about taking my eyes off the road as I ooften cache alone. Almost drove into a ditch once . And as we all get older it will allow us to continue to cache long after we have stopped driving.
  19. I've had two first to finds before publication, neither were ever published so no smiley. I also had a FTDNF on a cache that was muggled before it was found.
  20. Got an email like this just the other day. Not sure what the benefit of it is as the cache is over 250 miles away.
  21. This is exactly what I do. Still like the GPS for setting up a hide.
  22. So let the CO archive them, doesn't sound like that they will be missed.
  23. My finds were in Olympic NP and in Bakersfield, CA
