  1. where or how do I contact HQ directly for this assistance??
  2. My brother hid a few geocaches, one is in MY OWN back yard only accessible from a cemetery. He has since passed away. How am I able to adopt this cache and some of his others since he is unable to correspond and do the original C.O portion of the adoption process?
  3. Yes I was inactive for several years. I am getting back into geocaching again now and was curious. But you are right most were archived due to no response from me.
  4. I live in Clark County Ohio, but I also spend a few weekends a month at our family cabin in Morgan County Ky. As the bird bird flies I would guess 135 miles. I would also have a cousin who lives by to check the cache out if need be! what steps would I need to take to hide one closer to my cabin?
  5. I have been away from caching for a while and not totally tech savy. I was given a Tom Tom GPSr -- not even sure of the model just a Tom Tom__for my car and was wanting to send a pocket Queery to it, but not seeing an option for a Tom Tom. Is there another known/similiar gps that I can mark that will send the caches to the tom tom?
  6. We had an event in Piqua, Ohio and sent invitations to nearly every police establishment within 50 miles. We had a geocacher who was also a police officer who was going to be the speaker. Take a guess as to how many showed up? If you guessed 1.. You are wrong!! Not a single one showed up
  7. I just saved a GPX file onto geocaching, com. You know the new feature for premium members! if you have used gc.com to store your gpx file, can you tell me how you got it into Iplunder.. I tried the URL that shows at the top of the page and IPlunder would not accept it
  8. I just bought a new 76 CSx upgrading from the Garmin H. I have Nuvi that gets me to GZ, so I have not downloaded any maps yet. The numbers on the Garmin H were getting a little harder to read , a few times I guessed that I was placing the correct number in and I had guessed wrong.... I was using lithium batteries as I always have and discovered my accuracy was outrageous--something like 52 feet even with a open view of the sky. I later saw I had it set for alkaline batteries... Would having the wrong battery type selected made that much of a difference? I did see I was having 38 feet here in my basement a few minutes ago-- ugggggggg... Why not in the field
  9. Its sad to watch caches being neglected for what ever reason. LOl. I just got a NM on the fact the logbook was full. I asked the person if the backside of the log was full as well, she said they are empty. New cacher FYI. Now a quick Owner maintenance log until the silly thing does need to be totally maintained!
  10. Here is one I recently set up.. I did not go through all of the others on the list, but I am sure there are several just like mine. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...32-8360b55d50b5
  11. Some people will post their new hides with coordinates on their local geocaching websites to give the club friends first crack at it

    Ohio Cachers

I am from Clark County. I know about the forums, just half the time they irk me too much!!
  13. I would not be too bummed out about missing these caches. I seem to find caches with a 2 difficulty or a 3 easier then a 1 in difficulty. You have received some good information already. Just remember that not only are you trusting your own GPS accuracy but trusting that the hider has good coordinates.. Sometimes you will just have to expand your search area. I have a geocache hidden on school grounds where I teach at, I allow my students to hunt it. I suggest to them that when they are 210 feet away to look where the "Arrow " is pointing and take a mental note of what is there.. A tree? Rocks? a pile of logs? A fence? A nasty Pine tree.-- or in the case at school the school sign. get to your area you made a note of and look all over it..or under-- One thing I have noticed is if a cache is in a tree more times then not the cache is hidden on the side away from most of the muggles.. You may also look into the events as someone suggested and see if you can accompany a more experienced cacher to see how they attack a cache. How long to look? As long as you want or as little! The key is to have fun and enjoy it with your son and husband.
  14. I prefer this type of cache that takes a little more time and thought work in finding it! The hunters were warned with the 2.5 hardness. When you hide a hard one, you just smirk and enjoy the whining that follows publication.. Just make sure the coordinates are dead on to the best of your ability.
  15. Ok here is the deal. Just like any LPC I grabbed the cache, signed it, and replaced it. After replacing the cache I spent maybe 5 minutes checking other caches in the area that I wanted to do. Seeing that the other nearby caches said from Dawn to Dusk I chose to head home. For anyone to even suggest that I saw the police entering the area and driving away on purpose is ridiculous. If I had known I had caused some concern I would have immediately spoken to the police. I never saw the police, and since I was in no rush to get away after placing the suspicious package Tim Horton's had time to write my license plate down. I was interviewed by the Urbana Detective and was called on Monday being told there would be no charges filed against me... I was guilty of just being NON-stealthy and catching the attention of someone there--nothng else-- and I sure did not INTENTLY drive away from a potential crime scene. That is all. No more responses from me!!!!!
  16. Neglected caches by inactive cachers sure is irksome...
  17. Relog it as a frowny face and leave it at that. Then decide if you want to waste your time looking for another one of his/her hides like the others have said..
  18. I guess I can understand a gripe against people not parking legally, but just because you have to walk a ways and use a crosswalk... nah, part of the hunt is the approach. Crosswalks and all. The good thing is this thing is just a GAME and we can play as we want to..
  19. My biggest gripe with a hide is when the cache is very close to a street of any type but no logical or LEGAL place to park.. unless you park a good half mile away and then wait up to 2 minutes at each cross walk to legally walk across the intersections.. I will hunt any type of cache, I am not particular. Just have an obvious and LEGAL place to park suggested on the cache page if the place to park is not next to the cache coordinates. and if the cache is in a park help the out of towners with where to park-- don't just say Hanna's Shelter parking area-- give coordinates to where we can park. I have skipped caches when coords for parking were not given but just a name-- Next cache is probably a beformentioned electric box, nearly destroyed lamp skirt, or one in a culvert of all places.
  20. Page 10 = 6.8 miles Filter out my finds 200 takes me to 20.7 miles
  21. I just modeled what I tell my students to do. Find the question. Underline or highlight the question. Then answer the question! My answer = No Short, sweet, and simple.
  22. I would tend to agree that if a 4 year old was with you then the rating of a 4 is too high. I think a 4 tends to scare some people away from even trying. Sounds like a 2.5-3, but I live in Ohio, someone from The Rockies might call it a 1.5 .. I have noticed terrain ratings change based upon one's geographical location.. Snake icon? I have used it in the same type of area. Just cause!!
  23. I think the Tbs with specific goals tend to stay idle for long periods of time. I have some from my classroom out with just the goal of going from cache to cache, city to city, state to state, country to country. Some of them have been really hopping from cache to cache. I am rather new with Tbs as well, but I was lucky and had parent's club order me a good number of TBs to send out. So if one is idle the another might move. here is link to one. http://img.Groundspeak.com/track/log/79205...2afb2d561cc.jpg
