  1. That's a real shame. Who's having their rights or pleasure deprived by approving virtuals? Again, if you hate them or feel that that's not really a cache, don't look for them. The people being deprived by the (dis)approvers are those who like to look for virts and LCs.
  2. I fully agree with this. Approvers denying virtual caches really irritates me. If I hated virts, I would not go look for them.
  3. I agree too. I'm a Navicache fan.
  4. And I thought the Study of the Twin Peaks tv show was the coolest class ever!
  5. I would want to know if someone could not find my caches, so I leave the purple face when we fail. I like that face.
  6. I really like the locationless ones because many have given me good history lessons and have taken me places that I otherwise may never have gone. The Merci Boxcar, Doughboy, and Turner Bronze are good examples. I really enjoy seeing the different pictures from around the world. Because of my profession, I find many of these far more interesting than regular caches. It's like taking a trip with some of them that you see posted with photos. I've had lots of fun with these LCs over the past few months--more so than with other caches. However, I do agree with some of you about cache owners needing to police their caches. Take a look at the Active Cabooses and you'll see loads of them are NOT active. You'll find Grain Elevators for Canada now posted in Alabama and Germany. Also, has anyone noticed how many people keep logging locationless caches that have been archived? What's with that? I suppose a lot of people just don't read the instructions--but I've certainly made such mistakes before. If they lift the moratorium, and I sure hope they do, I'd love to hide some! Much fun!
  7. In the past, I would usually get my PQ's emailed within 5-10 minutes of when I created them (I did some in early October). I just tried to create some yesterday and this morning and nothing has happened yet for me either. Good thing I am not in a hurry to leave on vacation or something!! My personal opinion is that the function isn't working right.
  8. This will be our last post on this topic and we hope others will let it go. As wcgreen rightfully points out we got opinions and took action. We fully understand that this is a public forum and that opinions will vary. As for what more do we want, the answer is nothing. And, we thank you all for a lively discussion. A final aside for BP, perhaps we could have tackled this problem in a better fashion and we thank you for your input. Still, to suggest that we "invited" a f**k you for simply hiding a cache that someone could not find seems, well, just mean.
  9. We are truly sorry if we have offended anyone with posting a link to our page to get opinions on an irate post saying "FU." Now, our gratitude must be extended to BP for handing down the judgment from his/her lofty perch of morality and wisdom that we are guilty for all transgressions that have transpired on this thread. We can only pray that the maturity and moral clarity that you so clearly have will some day be ours. [This message was edited by cacheKidds on November 25, 2002 at 12:16 PM.]

  11. umc, we just wanted to thank you again for your tremndous support and regret that Trotty attcked your cache with the same hostile photo. Also, it's obvious that your posts (and the others) are not as remotely distasteful as Trotty's. We were rather hurt that BP chose only to criticize us, and failed to mention the problematic Trotty at all . We had hoped to leave the post up long enough to ensure that Groundspeak can view it. As for it being up for "so many hours," we checked the message board shortly after we orginally posted and thanked people, yes. However, we did not look again until this morning and deleted the posts on the cache page. We are delighted that BP has now deemed our cache respectable.
  12. Hmm - it seems the offending post has been deleted - but not by me.....
  13. Like I said, I want to make sure that TPTB see everything before I delete. You are right about people posting comments to my cache page - I don't think it is such a good idea and hope people refrain from adding more. Also, I wasn't really asking for advice - more so just venting to people that I thought would understand. I already took action before I got any comments anyway. HOWEVER, I feel no need to apologize to him. PS to BrianSnat - I noticed you already deleted the log you made on my cache page and now see fit to call for apologies
  14. Wow - so many responses so quickly. I already emailed him the first time he posted about being rude but have not written him after he posted the photo. I know he is looking for a reaction and I won't give him one. I will delete the post once the admin team gets a look at it. I already deleted a second post he made. We seem to have bad luck with the sport - our first cache was stolen and so was our first travel bug. Now this. I'm glad that there are decent geocachers out there. Thanks!
  15. Someone who has never found a cache before chose our cache to try as his first. He was unsuccessful and proceeded to leave a rude log on our cache's web site. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=35685 Of course, I responded as diplomatically as possible (although I may have provoked a little ). He then proceeded to actually SPEND TIME creating this lovely photo http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cachelog_details.asp?ID=133669&L=764866 and posting it. Come on! This is a family web site!!! I already emailed the powers that be and am awaiting their comment/action. But I am so mad that this punk has chosen to start something with me and how incredibly immature and ridiculous he is. I haven't let him have it yet, choosing to take the high road, but I have a few choice words in mind. Anyway, I'm afraid that if he gets banned from geocaching.com he'll just come back with a new user name and keep harrassing - or worse, go back and actually find the cache and take it. Arghh! Thanks for letting me vent!
  16. I just bought Etrex Legend. I got to the point where I was going to install some topo maps from the CD. Then it said, Warning, MapSource may override manufacturer installed components - or something like that. Before I upload MapSource, I want to know what its getting rid of and if I can get it back if need be. I don't want the installed basemap to be deleted because those roads are better than what is on the topo CD (an interstate in my area that has been around for at least 10 years is not shown on the topo CD!!). Thanks...
