  1. You have to understand that the only real guideline for the approval of virtual caches is that it must please the approver. Unfortunately, displaying a displeasing attitude will definitely work against you. If you want a virtual to succeed, you have to suck up, not blow down. That's just the way it is. You're 100% right, sir. I strongly disapprove of having to please the approvers.
  2. Whoa! With Fuzzy's help, I too will soon have over 215 locationless finds. I won't even need to go to Europe to find that ancient stone circle cache!
  3. This is sad news indeed. I never seem to have the GPSr when I see one.
  4. I really like LCs and I'm thinking about asking to adopt a couple that have been archived. But after looking at the thread below, it seems like some folks really do doctor their pictures. I really did not think this was a huge problem but after seeing some examples (and one guy with loads of examples), I'm a little worried and a lot irritated. I mean, doing this can keep someone else from playing fair and logging that Kugel Ball fountain or Cable Ferry. Does anyone know how much this happens with LCs? Thanks http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=63215
  5. Since I actually found a Merci Boxcar, that photoshop jerk posting a fake really irritates me. I was thrilled when I found one and it remains one of my favorite finds because it taught me something. Why this guy would want to fake his LCs just baffles me. But, he deprived someone of legitimately logging one of those rare boxcars. Yes, I see that the required GPS shot for the Nevada boxcar has been deleted and so have a load of his other photoshop efforts. Truly pathetic. I wonder how many others of his huge LC total are bogus and I wonder how many of his 216 LC "finds" have prevented other folks from logging them within the rules. He sure does "travel" a lot.
  6. Take a look at the Grain Elevators in Canada: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=35206 Notice how the Canadians have annexed Germany, Kansas, and Alabama.
  7. We would love to get all 50 states. We both have visited around 43-44 states but that was before geocaching. I think we are at 12 states and 1 Canadian province for geocaching finds.
  8. I'm glad we found the Photographer's Cache IX! Thanks Markwell--those are fun!
  9. The Faeroe Islands. I'd like to hide a cache on Tristan da Cunha, a British colony in the South Atlantic.
  10. Three written on, molded playing cards. It's a wonder they weren't all jokers. We've also had the expired coupon thing. that a guy left and took our brand new US fact card packet from a Geography themed cache. He actually seemed pleased that he left that rubbish.
  11. Duh! Thanks. Guess I should read more carefully
  12. I can't seem to figure out the avatar thing. I uploaded the image in the account settings area of gc.com. The image appears in the list of images on the upload page so I know its there. But, it doesn't appear on the dropdown list for choosing an avatar back on the account settings page. Is that the correct area to do it? I looked around in the forums Assistant page which took me back to gc.com. Thanks
  13. Tidewater Virginia has enough murders to offer something for everyone! Theft too!
  14. Thanks for those links guys! These sound fun and we've got to try to find some.
  15. ChrisCindy, you make a good point about the newbie thing. That could well be one reason subigo brought up the whole self-righteous thing.
  16. My parents really like it. My dad has owned a GPS for a long time and thought it was fun. He took a church group out to geocache in Mississippi last year.
  17. It's strange that someone would want to log stuff they don't find. It does not seem like much fun.
  18. We almost froze at a cache in Madison County, Iowa where the temp was 0 degrees farenheit. The wind chill was 20 below.
