  1. My uncle does archaeloogy work at Moundville and I know another guy that works there too. I thought about putting a cache there but I chose not to jump through the hoops of both the Bama State Parks and the UA to get permission. I think if somebody just stuck one out there, bad luck would soon come to you. I took four pictures of the park for the CCC locationless if anybody wants to see. There's a link for the park too.
  2. There are some in my area that have not been available since September when Hurricane Izzy ripped through Virginia and North Carolina. Lots of parks are still closed so folks don't know if the caches still exist. Of course, this is fairly exceptional event. A kind cacher/ranger rescued one of ours but we still can't replace it because the trails are still off limits. Honeychile has been great about not archiving these caches disabled by the storm's damage.
  3. I love the Noxubee NWR and I really enjoyed finding the cache in question. Given the bushwhacking involved, I'd be stunned if a muggle found it.
  4. Ox, I'm seriously thinking about getting one of those. My Garmin has been behaving poorly and the Magellan we have was orginally used by cavemen. I've read good things about Lowrance. I'm not sure which Lowrance to choose just yet.
  5. Cool picture! I've always liked snakes and have never been afraid of them.
  6. That really sucks! I hope you have good luck in finding a new job soon.
  7. Three Now. Four, RenegadeKnight. People adore governance. Sure, it takes away freedom, but people only really pay lip service to the concept of freedom anyway--just look at the myriad government programs. Rules place what should be personal responsibility some place other than the individual, be they seat belt laws or geocaching rules.
  8. My folks really enjoy it and have had a GPSr longer than I have. Whenever I visit, they want to go geocaching, hiking, or canoeing. My uncle always hid buried treasures around the forests for me and gave me maps when I was a kid, so they kind of look at it the same way as that.
  9. I like it! It's much better than the hackneyed "go away" bile.
  10. That was a beautiful post, CoyoteRed! Your thoughts mirror my own on these matters. Thank you.
  11. I hear what you are saying, ringbone. I agree with you 100% about rules.
  12. Micros are defintley my least favorite but they can be fun sometimes.
  13. If it does not have Grimace or the Hamburgler on it, I don't want it!
  14. I know what you mean! That has certainly been one of the best things about geocaching. A lot of fascinating places that I never knew existed are close to my home.
  15. Yeah, that horse thing is really clever and quite classy. Topics so dead that people cannot resist posting to gripe about people posting. I do agree with you about the "may" thing as well. Face it: they are rules and not guidelines.
  16. Same here. I wish that stupid moratorium would vanish.
  17. I guess they are not aware of the War on Virtuals.
  18. Wow! Are you serious? I would never, EVER do something that absurd. I don't particularly care for that "needs to be archived" option. There could well be some more broken glass jerks on the loose!
  19. I definitely would not have posted that in a log whether it was incorrectly labled or not. I think an email was the way to go. Otherwise, I would not be surprised if the owner thought that you were whining or taking public shots at his cache and consequently take a hostile attitude toward you.
