  1. 5? Have I missed 2 somewhere? The only 3 I can find are here, here & here. There was Near Nana's but that's now been archived. The other two are here, which has only been visited twice this year (I haven't actually done this one myself yet) and here Near Nanas is supposedly in the process of being restored by its owner but thats been the case for months now. Myself amongst others had a bit of a grumble about this particular cache. I think it was Mongoose who took us to task about it and I thought at the time that really I could see his point. I was intending to wait until it was restored and then when I found it apologise for being so grumpy. However as its taking him so long to restore it (I gather he doesn't actually live anywhere near it), it looks like I won't get the opportunity and my original archive request was probably correct. The Smithills valley is lovely so it would be good if it gets a cache in it Near Nanas or otherwise. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on the Santa's Jumble one, It's actually Bradshaw but it's debatable whether that can be classed as Bolton or not. I think you'll find that the Scrabble Challenge cache(s) come under Horwich rather than Bolton but hey, who's arguing. I don't honestly think Near Nana's will be resored though I could be wrong. The owner is the 9 year old nephew of Thespian (the owner of Oscars Prowl). I was brought to task by Thespian at the time over our comments regarding the cache and, while I agree that our original comments may have been a bit harsh, I stand by my beleif that the cache had become, through no fault of Thespian or Mr Underhill, inappropriately placed considering the direct area around it. I hope there are some more placed in the Smithills valley as I agree, it is a beautiful area and should be visited more often. Keith (Geotrotters) Oh really? I didn't realise that it was a kid who had placed it! I feel quite bad now. Its geocacheuk that gives the towns as Bolton. I was surprised about scrabble challenge , a few more metres and it would be in Belmont.

  3. Glad to see your new cache has appeared Pirate (as I write its a virgin), unfortunately the location gives as yet another cache for Horwich, so the Bolton count is still only 5! Glad to see it though , I have never been down there and its only the second cache in Belmont. I went to the other one (Here) last week and I was only the second person this year to visit it.
  4. I have only been to one event (The Enigma RVP), it was in a pub. This seems fairly typical, these things never seem very far away from alcohol. Unless we are all drunk drivers I would imagine that its quite common for event attendees to use public transport? The Enigma one was untypical mind. The Mars Bars didn't tell us the coordinates or even the time and date, never mind the public transport. Forty odd people still turned up though!
  5. Yes absolutely tons in Horwich, Winter Hill alone has (I think) six. I live in Horwich myself (Blackrod actually) and I see it as Bolton so I suppose I shouldn't make a big deal about municipal boundaries. Even so its very lopsided, I bet most of the 138 that Wizard74 refferred to will all be on the West Side. Chorley seems to be a very much a hot spot. GeocacheUk lists about 30.
  6. How about this for the opposite of cheshire. I come from Bolton and according to geocacheuk it has just 5 caches, and these lonely caches have attracted just 36 visitors between them in 2006. One of these is mine and I have been surprised by how view visitors it has had. I stuck a rare geocoin in to try and get some attention and its still there! I know about Cheshire because I work in Runcorn. I placed a new cache recently there and already it has had nearly the amount of visitors that the entirety of the Bolton ones have. I have just stuck a brand new one by Bolton Wanderers football ground. Unfortunately that doesn't count as its classified as being in Horwich!
  7. I intended to name myself after my favourite mountain in the far North West of Scotland. However it was only the other day I noticed on a map that this mountain is spelled with an e. Its Foinaven. I have actually inadvertently named myself after the racehorse which won the grand national in 1967 and now has a fence named after him!
