  1. Oh Yea, The Geocahing.com Groundspeak Help Section has a GREAT walkthru on how to use PocketQ's I would highly recommend reading up on that. I found the hole geocaching.com site a bit overwhelming at first but after poking around and reading tons it all comes together.
  2. I just figured this out today!!! Once you create your PQ and are happy with it choose to run it today. Then go to your inbox and download the ZIP file. (I would create a folder on your desktop called Geocaching and then a subfolder called PQ) Save the ZIP file into the PQ subfolder and once there unzip it. There will be 2 file types. xxxxxxx.GPX and xxxxxxx.wpt.GPX or something close to that. Hook Up Your GPSr unit to your PC/MAC Click and drag the xxxxxxxx.GPX file into the Geocaches Folder on the GPSr Click and drag the xxxxxxx.wpt.GPX into the Waypoints folder. Safely remove hardware and reboot (usually does it automatically) Done Deal! PQ TIPS: Choose to search for "Enabled" caches Remember to set the Day to Todays date so you recieve your PQ in your inbox. Change the amount of caches to a higher number so you can download more then 30 at a time. Be Safe and Have Fun! That feature, along with many others, is available to Premium Members on GC.com. Then you can run Pocket Queries, which let you do searches for caches of a specific type or place and send the whole bunch right to your GPS. Did you get a trial membership in the box with the GC? yes i did. i am a premium member...for the next 30 days. my problem is i dont fully understand the whole pocket query so i just kind of wanted to check 30 or so caches from the list and download them all at once to my gps instead of clicking the send to gps button for each and every one or creating a pocket query.
  3. When I first started Geocahing I was using my BlackBerry Bold 9700. Needless to say I thought it was the best. then my friend showed me his iPhone App...I never used my Blackberry again. I did switch to Android and tried c:geo and a few other apps but found they were weak in comparison. I bit the bullet and sprung for the GC. Upon opening and turning it on I was very disappointed. I expected a beautiful GUI and all I got was a 1980's looking screen. I was foolish and never gave it a change. a few months later my local Canadian Tire had a sale on the eXplorist 310. I thought it might be a little better. When I Got it home and plugged in some GPS files I again disappointed but gave it a try. My nephew was the first to use it and did he ever. I watched him climb up a sand embankment and he was burying the GPSr up to his wrists with each stride. I thought for sure it's ruined. But nope, Stood strong and no even a scratch. As for the navigation, I found a lag that was quite annoying. I read up on some things and did an update off the megellan website. this fixed a lot of problems. You do need to be a Premium Member of Geocaching.com to enjoy all the benifits of this device. Here's how I look at it. you spend 150+ to get the unit, might better pay the 30.00 more to enjoy it. I know its worth it. However, as mentioned, writing down a few hints and taking along a notepad is how I started out and there is no harm in that. Paperless is the way to go though. I just gotta figure out how to upload my logs when I'm done caching for the day... Anyone?
  4. This is what have been looking for aswell, I have the Magellan eXplorist 310 and am about to attempt to link things. I thinking about going to all my finds and sending them to my GPS unit and then listing them as found...hope it works. Then anything new I add should come up as not found? Ohwell, we'll see
  5. Hey, I have deleted all the caches stored on the unit because they were not close to me at all. I am now sitting infront of my PC and have the GPS unit connected via USB cable...Now what? I have an account and have already found 77 caches. My goal is to download only NEW caches and ones I have yet to find. Am I able to connect my Geocaching accomplishments and account details to the Magellan or do I need to start again? Thanks, ChrisandChantal
