  1. Sorry if this is a little off topic but I figured GPS/Geocachers might know what of what I am looking for in this instance.

I just traded my F-150 XLT and it had an outside thermometer (with an inside display) which I didn't realize how much I grew to enjoy over the past 4 years until I traded for a new truck which doesn't have it. Anyone know of a good and quaility thermometer that doesn't look like some 15 cent plastic aftermarket toy bought at the local SuperCenter?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. For those that cannot get enough...

I have loved this webiste for many years and he never ceases to amaze me with new stuff. A geek (in Europe) has wired everything in his house to webcams or other logs.

Ring the Doorbell - post an image on the Internet

Open the Garage Door - post an image on the Internet

The cat eats - post an image on the Internet

Throw somthing in the trash can - scan the UPC label and post it on the Internet

    There are tons more...

  3. I am still looking for a closer seperation but have one already...

Cache Commando found my cache, Rest In Peace, and also found Critters which was found by Markwell. icon_biggrin.gif

Blues Preacher and I and Markwell have also crossed paths many times too. When I was on vacation in May in Tennesse, I did several caches but missed one due to a lack of time. Naturally, Markwell on his vacation did the one I missed! icon_rolleyes.gif

I know this sounds crazy but a Jack-in-the-Box antenna ball could be a hot item in Indiana.

Last November/December, I spent a couple of weeks in Las Vegas (losing money at Binion's Poker Tables) and managed to get a couple of antenna balls from Jacks. (These were the ones with the scarf and winter hat.) Everybody wanted one becasue they were so cute!

    ...so bring them to Indiana!

  5. I can wear golf shirts at work (& promote geocaching) but cannot wear t-shirts. Being a computer geek, I get so many free t-shirts, I dare not buy any. (You can assume I will buy a golf shirt or two.)

I would also like to see either a bumper sticker or a license plate with the logo. I got a window cling but I have such dark tinted windows in my Ford F-150 truck, the cling is invisible.

Add to thast list a flag! I would gladly fly a geocaching flag on the flag poll. Make it a good high quaility flag for all seasons of course.

  7. I have only been to one cache where I meet a cacher. We both pulled up to a parking lot and we both got out with our GPS and we knew we were both there to geocache.

Since this wasn't a "first find" oppertunity, I suggested they go first and to take their time. It was an easy urban cahe so I said I would come resuce them after 30 minutes. icon_biggrin.gif

(The other person was a couple and I was also a couple with my wife.) If I got deep on the trail heading toward the cache and meet up with someone, then I would suggest a team approach.

If I was going to be pissy about people getting to caches first, then I would have to complain about people that don't seem to have a job on Friday! They always seem to be first!

Did they take away Ryder Truck Rentals after they had been used in several truck bombings? Nope!

There is way to much use of GPS technology to eliminate it from public use. It would cripple the economy.

Heck, one could almost fly visual into the Towers from quite aways away.

  10. I don't have an issue with logging Not Found when I can't legitimatly find it. I did place a note on a cache I didn't find this past Saturday since I was the 5th person in a row to not find it since March 30th. (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=9139&logs=y&decrypt=)

I can take being beaten by a cache and am not to proud to say so. (See http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=22696)

Also, it is easy to get more posts in the forum than caches found. I have done all the caches close enough for a lunch visit so as I eat my bologna sandwhich, I hit the forums at several of my favorite sites.

  11. There was a recent discussion about batteries over here...

I persoanlly went to Wal-Mart and got the Energizers. I was able to get the charger with 2 AA and an extra 4 pack of AA for about $20. (I cannot remeber the exact price.) They work great in my eTrex Vista.

I sent her a message to archive it. I think the recent flood we have had would have taken it anyway should it have still been there anyway.

  13. I recall reading a while back about caches being too close. I never really gave it much thought until today. I was visiting GC5708 and as I walked towards the cache, another cache appeared on my GPS.

I went "huh?" I found the one I came for and then went for the other. It had been in my GPS from a while back but I never visited it since it since it seems to be missing. It is CG32B3. The distance is 106' between them.

    That seems really close...
