  1. Just in time for Christmas. I have a Garmin Rhino 110 that my wife recieved as a Christmas present last year. She has used it about 3 times but just doesn't seem to be interested enough to hang onto it. I also have the dc/data combo cable to go with it. I priced this combination on ebay for $210 currently. The Rhino has a small scratch on the screen that I improved with some toothpaste but should come out just fine with some plastic polish. If anyone is interested I will let the Rhino, cable and a carrying case I have it in go for $175 or make me an offer. This will make a good beginner or second user unit for someone for Christmas. I will ship for actual shipping costs and accept paypal for payment. contact me at thefederation@se.rr.com

  4. Congratulations MonkeyBrad I appreciate your comments and your resolve. I truly believe that all the rants in the forums never take into account the true nature of individuals intent or purpose. I agree that each of us have opinions on what is or isn't a good cache but until you are familiar with individual communities members it is unfair to pass judgement based on generalizations of a perception of that community. I realize that Nashville has a reputation as being the Mecca for Micros but hold your opinions until you not only have cached there but have met the people as well. I have done both and have no problem with Nashville or it's cachers. I am sure after GeoWoodstock next year our comunity will probably be branded with the same reputation and held in the same reagard as Nashville and it's caching community. I can only say for myself that I will count that as a badge of honor. Brad tell those cachers to hang in there that the only cachers opinions who count are themselves and their community of friends all the bs from the forums is just that.
  5. The Cache Page is up and Running I will get a link up here shortly. If you were watching the page before it was shut down you should have recieved a note.
  6. Rest assured I was not ordered, threatened or contacted by GC.Com to change our Cache page. When I read this thread and saw that others felt that we were in violation of the Guidelines I "voluntarily" changed my cache event page. I just didn't want anyone to think that we were told to change our event or were pressured in any way. I have never knowingly tried to circumvent the listing guidelines associted with GC.Com nor did I see this as being outside those boundaries. As soon as I realized that GC.Com had a different opinion in regards to this event I changed the Cache page to meet the guidelines.
  7. Since it seems our Cache Page was out of line with posted GC.Com Guidleines we have modified the page appropiately. We will still be holding a Toys for Tots event since we feel strongly about being involved in our communites as well as our Parks but we will list that information on our web site.
  8. Hmmmm, I thought that was a cache in his pocket. Good to hear from you MD. Hope all is well . When are you going to be back in the states?

  11. Most of the cachers from that area and Northeast Florida hangout in one of the 2 places post a note there and should get a quick response. http://www.nefga.com or http://www.floridacaching.com
  12. Go to the MECCA Debroah do Homeless BathTub but come prepared some of the NEFGA guys can tell you our war stories from there if you are interested.
  13. I think the greatest compliments I have recieved are the ones which go unsaid. I have only to look back overhow far caching has come in the areas surrounding my stomping grounds and see how the area has developed. I know that my efforts played a large part early on in seeding caches and bringing cachers along. But since I don't tend to toot-my -own horn a lot of that ealy work is only known to the original cachers in the area. Thanks Joe for the opportunity to toot my own horn.
  14. To the best of my knowledge that record has never been set or established.
  15. first thanks to Lep for the kind word about the previous record attempt in Jax. Secondly we contacted Guiness and they weren't interested. I can't offer any details as to why since I didn't make the contact but there was something that they didn't want to recognize it. I also agree with others that the record issue is a fun thing but I don't think it rises to any form of standardization yet . It is still just for fun for those who are crazy enough to attempt it.
  16. Nefga has set up a Cafe Press Shop to purchase Merchandise for GWIII. There is a small markup on the stuff in the store. All proceeds from the sales will go toward paying for GWIII. If there are groups or local organizations that want to purchase in bulk please contact The Federation and we can help out with the pricing. For the standard white Tshirt and 2 1/4" buttons it will be cheaper to purchase when you register at Geowoodstock. We are able to purchase those items till April 1, in bulk from another vendor and we would like to pass the savings onto the caching community. Cafe Press is usually for the 1 or 2 piece orders where we don't have to pay set up fees for each item listed. We continue to look forward to seeing as many cachers as possible in Jax next year. This is the link GWIII Cafe Press Store
  17. Hello everyone well here it is the long awaited Geowoodstock3 web site. 18. posted wrong pics the logos are correct but the dates should be May 27-29,2005 sorry for any confussion
  19. On the first question place the date you want the caches released when you submi plus lace a reviewer note that the caches are for an event and please don't release till the posted date. Most of the reviewers are more than willing to work with you on things like that. As far as holding the event I don't see why you couldn't hold it at the lake you mentioned in the post if it is public access. Again place a reviewer note so the approver will see it and understand that you have considered tha option. Should n't be aproblem from there. good luck with the event.
  20. The next few months we will be running a few article in Todays Cacher Magazine profiling GeoWoodstock for those who would like to get a better idea what GeoWoodstock is all about. Here is alink for this months article. I would like to thank Fly46 for a fine article: http://www.todayscacher.com/2004/oct/events2.asp
  21. I always try to poke if I can't see, look before reaching, and I always put my walking stick across the opposite side of fallen trees before stepping. I have spent 2 1/2 years caching the woods of Florida, rattlesnakes, cottonmouts, and a variety of other snakes I have only gotten one Pygmy Rattler cornered where he couldn't get away from me and he coiled but I saw him first. I had to chase 2 mocasins off of the path I was on, but I saw them first and was able to react. the critical point with all of these is watch, watch your feet and hands. I am sure I have passed more snakes than I have seen by staring at the gps but just be aware of where you are and what lives there.
  22. if you want to talk about personal one day cache stats. Paintfiction and myself went to totally new territory to us, not alot of prior planning which cost alot of time finding parks closed ect and our record for 24 houre was 92 or 93. it was a blast though going to places we had no idea where we were with no help from the locals. this may not be unassisited but it is definetly different than other record attempts that I have heard of.
  23. We have a fairly dense caching area both with cachers and caches but I rarely accidentally run into another cacher on the trail. Most of the interaction we have with cachers is on a planned basis either group hunts or planned events.
