  1. Agreed! My 60CSx is doing its job wonderfully as well!
  2. I've been using Lithiums in my 60CSx for about a month now without issue. The lithiums I have on my shelf (I've got about 20 8-packs still left from when I bought 50 8-packs wholesale) have been there for a couple of years anyway so I guess I haven't had a REALLY fresh pack that is putting out the 1.75v when new that others have mentioned. I have rechargables as well, but ya know... I don't really care about spending a couple hundred bucks a year on Lithiums. My unit is MUCH lighter (and thus floats, or so I've heard), and they last a good long time. I don't throw my batteries into the trash can and instead dispose of them via battery recyclers at a Best Buy or here at work.
  3. FYI you don't even need a special serial cable anymore. Just use a regular USB cable. GSAK will send waypoints through the USB connection. GeoBC Ummmm, there isn't a new version of GPS Babel or GSAK that I could find... so how exactly are you making the USB connection work with GSAK on one of the new "x" series GPS's like the GPSMAP 60CSx that is being discussed here? USB will work for non "x" models, but since Garmin changed their USB communication protocol for the "x" models, GPS Babel isn't currently working with them... he's working on it though, so hopefully soon we'll see an update!
  4. I've caught myself a couple of times thinking that the compass was erratic... each time I took a few seconds to hold the compas level and everything seemed to clear up then. I'm thinking about mounting a couple of small bubble levels on my 60CSx.
  5. Er... oh yeah. 2025 map limit... I'm redoing now. ... Actually, I'm gonna look at the card directly and see if I can figure out which ones to delete.
  6. Ug, then 10 minutes to transfer them to the flash card. Maybe I'm not loading anything other than east coast. I'll just wait till I pick up the next version of City Navigator when it comes out to use the rest of the space with.
  7. Ug, wish I was using my game computer for GPS stuff instead of my bill paying computer. I'm sure the 3.4Ghz Extreme Edition CPU would be a LOT faster than the old P4 1.8Ghz. Anyway, I'm waiting for 30 minutes while it builds the maps. Using a card reader, just selected the target device as the H:\ drive. Selected all of the East Coast Topo maps first. Will add in California, Texas, Washington, Colorado after this as those about the only likely place I'll be anytime soon for the west maps. All of east coast was 658MB. Woooooot!
  8. I actually had to take my significant other to the doctor this morning, she's all done now and my afternoon at work was just sitting at an All Hands event and Beer Bash, so I'm just watching the webcast and waiting for my 1GB card to show up!
  9. Just tracked my shipment with DHL/Airborne Express ... will be here in the next couple of hours! Wooooooot! A week earlier than I was expecting. Still hate that they cancelled my order... better be glad I'm still getting it or I'd be REALLY pissed at OUTPOST. But yay! Lots of maps to carry with me now!
  10. Yeap... I'm only upset because of the Customer Service Rep who wasn't giving me good advice as to how to make sure I got my order the quickest. Hopefully it still arrives tomorrow and I'm not out of luck from them cancelling my March 10th pre-order.
  11. Okay.... called Outpost... they said nope it is still backordered... so I asked if I should cancel that order and order off the website again where it says that it is available... she says "that might work, would you like me to cancel this order" ... I say ok... then AFTER (my mistake) I ask if she is SURE that this will get me my order the fastest... "well sir, I've already cancelled the order so there isn't another option" I'll _NEVER_ order from Outpost again. HOPEFULLY I get my 1GB microSD card from them tomorrow.
  12. Grrrrrrr. My Order Status still says BACKORDRED though. *grumble* I'm not happy! On phone holding for them now.
  13. According to the Outpost website... the 1GB microSD card is "In stock, same day shipping" at this point! Wooooooot! http://shop4.outpost.com/product/4754989?s...CH:MAIN_RSLT_PG Jay
  14. Okay... two different people saying that they have 1GB microSD cards... but still not a link to buy them at. Where are you folks getting them at? I'll cancel my order from Outpost.com in a heartbeat if someone can tell me where I can order one overnight and have it Monday from...
  15. Soooooo... the 1GB isn't gonna be usable is that what you're saying? Should I just order a 512mb instead? Thanks, Jay
  16. Either way... that still could be a lot of writes to the card if they're not grouped together when they are written. Again though, I'm not sure if the million write max is valid anymore, if it ever was.
  17. Hmmmmmmm. Wrap When Full in combination with FLASH memory sounds scary to me. Flash memory (IIRC) can only be written to like 1 million times or so. Granted that is still a LOT of tracks, but it would definately use up all the available times to be written to quicker than if it was just writing out a file every so often all at once. Hmmmmmmm... wonder if flash has improved over the last couple years since I heard that and doesn't have that limit any longer... or if I heard incorrectly and that is each BIT can be flipped 1 million times or something. I wonder...

  19. Thanks for the information!!! I'll probably hold off for a while longer before switching from my Palm T3. It still does most of what I need at this point, and doesn't sound like there are enough advantages with the 6[59]15 for me yet.
  20. And just for the record Robert is working on GPSBabel (with info from Garmin) to get the "x" series working. It hopefully won't be too much longer. Personally his dedication to it got me to donate some funds to him. I use it not for GSAK as well as a couple of smaller scripts that I wrote myself. Very good little application!
  21. Cool! Thanks for the info Wojo65... I thought maybe there was a secret supplier we could get one sooner from. Oh well, I'll continue to wait. I've not needed more than the 64mb that comes in my 60CSx yet, so I'm still good until vacation season and I'm travelling around.
  22. Yes, I have one on order through Outpost myself with an expected April 2nd delivery date. However Wojo65 seemed to indicate that he already had a 1GB microSD card in his posession and I'd love to know where he got it since they're not shipping yet from anywhere I've seen. Thanks!
  23. Off topic and I apologize... but where did you get your 1Gig MicroSD card Wojo65? Thanks in advance!
