  1. A few years ago I wrote a poem about a witch that lives in Los Angeles named Beatrix Harting. I liked the name so much I made it my username for geocaching, Twitter, etc. CMH is the airport code for my hometown. I've eventually changed my username for other places, but kept it for geocaching.
  2. Maybe it's the final to a really crappy multi! Left Something/Took Nothing HEY! you traded up[well actually down] ...comes with its own log book!
  3. Love it!! I can't resist adding... One Cache two Cache red Cache blue Cache Black Cache blue Cache old Cache new Cache Some are red and some are blue. Some are old and some are new. Some are sad and some are glad. And some are very, very bad. One Cache, Two Cache Red Cache, Blue Cache This One has a little car, This One has a little star My, what a lot of Caches there are! Will you cache up a tree? Scuba dive to GZ? Will you cache ‘neath a lamp? Sign a log that is damp? Over hill? Over dale? A suburban guard rail? A jar taped with camo? A film can? A nano? Remarkable places? Magnetic key cases? Avoid bomb squads and bears? Yes, you’ll cache ANYWHERE!
  4. I've only been caching for a month but we always cache as a combined activity with something else. Typically, exploring a regional nature preserve, metro park or hiking trail. Also, we live downtown and there are several small, urban caches in the areas where we go out on the weekends. Many times I'll say, "Let's go grab a cache!" at the end of the evening. Lastly, I've bookmarked a few caches around my office. It's relaxing to get away from work during lunchtime, get some fresh air and grab a cache. My favorite, by far, is discovering metro parks, preserves, etc. that we would have otherwise never seen.
  5. I feel you, bro. I'm trying to remember to check the logs before I head to a cache in an attempt to avoid the bad areas. I often forget, though. I wanted to grab a quick cache after work today and was led to some blown-out, depressed area where the micro was not even attached to the guardrail anymore. Of course, I would have known this if I had read the logs...but alas. Fortunately, I tried one more before heading home and was led to a really nice cache. As others have said, I would check for favorites, read the logs...and hope for the best. Just thought I'd mention, if you had a premium membership, and a device capable of paperless Geocaching, then you could take at least some of the logs with you. (Even a Nuvi car GPS, which isn't designed for paperless Geocaching, can be capable of storing extra cache info when used with GSAK and a Nuvi specific macro.) Not to mention have access to Pocket Queries which let you download up to 1000 caches per query, including description, hint, logs, and so on. Another option is to print out the pages for caches in the area(s) you might want to do Geocaching in. Get the same basic info, but it requires more work. Thanks for the advice. It is my plan to be active in the sport for 90 days before committing to a membership. I've enjoyed my first month so much that I'm sure I'll go ahead and get the Premium Membership after I've checked everything out for 90 days. In the same respect, I won't place a cache until I've been in the sport for a year. I suppose the 90-days & One Year are arbitrary time tables...but that's just the way I do things. I have access to all the logs from each cache on my iPhone. It's just a matter of remembering to hit the button before I'm led to an undesirable area. I'm learning alot & taking alot of notes during my first month in the sport and it really is alot of fun!

  7. I've only been Geocaching one month & I feel, if any change is made, it should be an increase in distance. It did not take me long to notice an over-saturation in certain areas...especially since I live downtown. I've already learned to avoid LPCs & truly appreciate being guided to little-known nature preserves, public artworks, historical markers, etc. If I ever own a cache, I will probably wait until I've been actively participating in the sport for a year & have logged quite a few finds. I'm surprised Groudspeak doesn't limit cache placement more, but I certainly understand thier need to be profitable...& limiting participation is not a savvy way to increase membership and/or trinket sales.
  8. I'm releasing my first coins very soon. Thank you for these wonderful templates!
  9. I am very new to Geocaching and would be interested in purchasing a few U.S. State-Themed Geocoins, too. Specifically, Mississippi Louisiana Kansas Ohio Also, I only want to buy round coins...does that make me weird?
