  1. Sorry, I can't see Options when I start the macro, neither can I see whether it is the latest version of the database. I just click on macro when i am on the found caches database page then select FindStatGen from the list of macros.
  2. Yes, the correct number is in the yellow box. I don't know how to set the date to today when I run the macro but I have just updated the macro so don't know if that will help. No the page doesn't look OK when it opens after running - it is 400 finds short!
  3. I haven't updated my stats on my public profile since August though I have tried, latest try today. I have downloaded a My Finds PQ, downloaded it into GSAK V 8 then used the FindStatGen3 V3.9.90 macro to produce the stats. Each time I still get the number of finds I had up until last August. I know I must be doing something wrong but what? Please can someone point me in the direction of some instructions so I can start again? Please!
  4. I've been following this thread since it began. At first I agreed with the general negative views. Since reading the CO's post I've come round to a different way of thinking and I have decided that when the days lengthen I shall go to Essex and try out the series for myself. I enjoy long walks and I shall also find it a challenge to get back to the starting point by public transport.I know the caches will be easy and predictable but I shall be doing it for the walk. I always carry a shall box containing spare logs of varying sizes and have no hesitation in replacing a full logsheet. I cannot see why others are so opposed to helping out fellow cachers. I am always so grateful when someone helps me. I so feel for the COs being so publicly castigated. They are only trying to add a lovely walk to the caching mix. No one is obliged to do the series.
  5. Hi, I am just hoping that someone more tecchie than me can help. There is a gpx file Track-r (rectangle symbol)t.gpx which cannot be deleted on my Oregon 300 as the name is too long. I have tried renaming but it reverts back. It doesn't affect the performance but is annoying when I see it in the list of gpx files when I am cleaning up!
  6. I have had a Mio P550 which I had to replace with a P350. I was devastated when that also broke as I saw it as the perfect caching and walking companion. I now use MM Tracker on my Android phone and that is almost as good. The phone of course is more fragile and has to be kept in a waterproof case but it holds the caches and my maps which is what I need. I also use an Oregon.
  7. No, i have absolutely no interest in them at all. I don't see what they have to do with caching.
  8. No, i have absolutely no interest in them at all. I don't see wha tthey have to do with caching.
  9. I have an HTC Desire and am very impressed with the gps accuracy when using MM Tracker. I can turn on the gps then the app and get a fix on the map invariably within 30 seconds.
  10. Last Sunday I found this cache as part of a series. I also dropped off a TB. I went to check the cache page today to see if the TB had been moved on but although the text said I had found this cache on September 25th the log was missing. Has anyone else experienced this?
  11. Thanks. i had put in a bid for the P550 but was outbid. I'll watch it.
  12. I have the free version of MM Tracker but haven't tried it with maps yet. Can you populate the maps with caches from a PQ? I have Memory Maps on my phone which are viewed with Trekbuddy. I can use them with a gps/bluetooth receiver which is better than the gps on my Desire. I will certainly ask for my money back from the repair and look for a cheapo PDA on Ebay.
  13. I don't suppose many cachers still use PDAs with Memory Map for caching but here goes. A couple of months ago the screen froze. I sent it to the Mio repairer in Telford and paid £67. It came back, worked briefly then once i had charged it the same problem occurred. I again sent it to be repaired but they said the problem laid in the screen protector and once they had removed that it was fine. Ir came back yesterday and seemed to work OK. I charged it overnight and now have the same problem. The buttons work as does the joystick but not the touchscreen. I have tried resetting but no joy. I do have maps on my phone via Trekbuddy but my Mio is far better as I can zoom in. Please has anyone any ideas as I am going north on a caching holiday on Monday! Thanks!
  14. I've just installed it on your recommendation. No doubt I will be back with questions! I see you can download a PQ. Can you also create one from neongeo?
  15. You'll be spoilt for choice if you make your way easy to Sheringham Park where there is an abundance of excellent caches in a lovely location.
  16. Our son lives in South Oxfordshire so we cache there regularly. I have just been trying to look up my past logs but gc.com is on a go-slow at the moment. I usually find caching trails using geocaching google maps available on all cache pages. I zoom out, go to the area I am interested in then zoom back in and do my PQ from the map. A recent trail we did was centered in Ewelme near Wallingford - nice walk, lovely pub in the village but maybe a little far for a 3 year old. There's a series starting from the Thames in Wallingford and there's a great family friendly pub on the riverside. Sorry I can't be more specific but am doing this from memory!
  17. Yes there is a way if it's like the Oregon 300 which I have. While navigating to the bonus cache select the geocaching menu. You should have Show description Show logs Show hint Log attempt Enter next stage Select the latter then input your coordinates.
  18. I've done most of the caches in that area. I recommend the Walberswick Jaunt series which will take you round the coastal marshes with stunning views and to Southwold common. There are 14 but you can split up the walk quite easily if it's too long for you. Also on Southwold Common is the Gone Fishing series which is quite challenging. The Dunwich Forest series is also good. As mcwomble says you are spoilt for choice as all of the caches around that part of coastal Suffolk are of a very high standard and it is a beautiful area.
  19. I have been trying for half an hour and have managed to log three caches. Just as well I can pop in and view this forum while I am waiting . In five years of caching this is the slowest I have seen gc.com run.
  20. I, the female in the team, do all the PQs, loading of caches, logging, forum posting etc etc, My husband Julian finds a few and is my cache-designer in chief so he does have his uses!
  21. Thanks all! We will be staying near South Stack so that will be a must. We will also go and have an adventure at Moe's Tavern. Can't wait to go now i know there are some decent caches!
  22. Norfolk Dumpling and I are going for a week's caching and walking near Holyhead in Anglesey. Can anyone recommend any must-do caches in the area or en route? We are planning on travelling from East Anglia via the M6, M54 and A5. We will need to make a few stops on the way so it would be nice to have a driveby cache or two! Thanks
  23. I did the simplest thing in the end as being a church micro I would have had to get a new number - for the same church? So I rejigged the puzzle to lead to the new location. I will know for next time!
  24. We went on a cache maintenance trip today. One of our caches which was in a red phone box has gone since the box has been stripped so we have located it elsewhere. It was a multi church micro but I would like to change it to traditional. Is this possible?
