  3. No Thats Tescos My husband and I went there nearly 10 years ago on our first holiday together. We spent a lot of the holiday visiting the ancient monuments and villages etc. The day we went here another couple were there with their young daughter, she was playing shops inside, more specifically tescos, and wanted to serve us. Comletely ruined any mysticism/history the site might have held for us, a had to be there moment but we still laugh about it. Perhaps we can revisit on our trip next year. Don't give Tesco any more ideas as to where to put there next shop!!

  12. Any links to show us what you mean? thanks
  13. As the footpath ran alongside his field there's a pretty high probability that he was the owner - so did you ask his permission? If he didn't want the cache there, it might be that he had other areas that may have been more suitable? Presumably you now have landowner permission for the new hiding place? What I meant was, generically speaking, that if I were to place a cache, anywhere, I would seek the owners permission. Upon speaking to this farmer, there was a feeling of threat, and possibly menace (he pulled his tractor in front of our car, blocking my exit) so thought it best not to ask! He didn't offer any other place to hide cache, as I said, in his words, he didn't want ANYBODY crossing HIS land, disturbing his peace. I am still deliberating where to hide cache..... Thanks, Matt
  14. They are just Dipping the cache, maybe waiting for the right home.... I am sure they will let it be.....one day! Matt
  15. There are a few links on this post: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=282063&st=0&p=4842103&hl=matt_tee&fromsearch=1entry4842103
  16. The Moon.... Imagine the hiding places....with no restrictions! (for now!) Matt
  17. Public footpaths are NOT public property, and you have no more right to hide a cache there than you do on any other private property without the owners permission. They are Rights of Way. You have the right to "pass and repass", on foot, and nothing else. You don't have the right to stop and have a picnic, play with a frisbee....or hide tupperware. To put it into perspective....the pavement at the front of most of our houses is a public right of way. Would you presume that gave you the right to reach into the hedge of a house bordering the pavement to hide a cache?? I did say to the farmer, that I would not place anything without the owners permission, as quoted in the Geocaching rules, and I pointed him in the direction of Geocaching.com It was the Attitude that was the problem, and the sense of threat for myself and my son. It was ignorance causing the issue. Anyway, moved on and reset the cache in a place acceptable. Matt
  18. I have just experienced some Ignorance/Arrogance whilst planning a cache hide. I got muggled by the farmer who owned the field adjacent to the footpath, and I tried to explain the Dynamics of Geocaching, and without any consideration, he told me that he did not want anybody, especially Geocachers, crossing the stile or walking by his field, because it was HIS land, and he was concerned about vandalism. I once again tried to explain, the rules and regulations which we have put upon us, when placing a cache, and also gave him a geocaching hand-out (which he gave back instantly!) but he was not interested. I decided to not place any caches near his land, and told him so. I was with my little boy at the time and the language which he was conveying, was quite savoury! So I decided to move on, he then shouted that he will keep checking the stile for anything out of the ordinary, and remove it to stop anybody disturbing his peace! So, my question is, can we legally place a cache on/underneath or near to (not on private property) a stile on a public footpath? If so, then we are all up against this ignorance and arrogance, and that's a shame, as we are not out to destroy/ruin any property/land.etc In fact, I have just been on a CITO meet, where we helped clear away burnt scrub. P.S Not all farmers have this attitude, one GENTLEMAN Farmer I met whilst Caching with my son, helped with directions, and was very interested in caching, which he was considering taking his grandson! Matt.
  19. Hi All, Thought I would start this one, as I am always thinking of places to hide/ things to use/ best cache containers....etc, when I should be 'doing something else'! You know you have it bad when...... Out shopping with the wife, you are continuously scanning shelves for 'Cache Containers' Now it's over to you....
  20. So you're enjoying it then! LoL! P.S I am a Newbie too, and yes, it is frustrating; But, I suppose it's up to the stasher what clues he/she leaves, unfortunately, we have to try a bit harder, and tune our Spidey senses a bit more! All the best in your Cache Adventures! Matt.
  21. Do Not Dig..... Use your eyes, hands and sixth senses to find the cache, you will become 'tuned' to where fellow cachers 'may' place them. The best part of caching is looking for the cache at GZ (Ground Zero). Good Luck and keep up the hunt! (but keep the shovels at home...) Matt
  22. Thanks for that. Hope they Email me to confirm this, then change my status...
  23. Hi, I have just Subscribed to a non recurring premium membership ($30.00) and have been sent a receipt showing a payment of $30.00 taken from my card. The problem is, when I checked my premium status, it showed renewal date of 7th November 2011??? and I have just received another email stating this too. How can this be, if I have paid for an Annual Subscription? Is this just a computer error? Has any other members experienced this? I have sent an Email to Groundspeak support, stating the problem. Hope somebody can put me in the light. Thanks Matt
  24. Ok. Thank you, Went ahead and did it....Absolutely fine, like you said. Close topic please? Matt
