  1. I'll throw in the Great State of California with it's beautiful weather and varying terrain. We have thousands and thousands of caches in the mountains, in the desert and at the Seaside. Did I mention the beach bunnies!
  2. If I knew for sure that somebody put out soft coordinates on a cache, that would be the absolute last time I waste my time trying to find any of their caches! I see absolutley no reason to knowningly put out bad coordinates.
  3. Welcome to the fun. It might be a good idea to go to the Garmin page and download the user's manual from the site and begin reading it. It'll help you get ready to go when the unit arrives. I'm sure you'll have alot of fun. It's a great way to spend time with the family and get some excerise too!!! Have fun!
  4. They beat you to it. Check out: GCP7JV and GCJCAW, there a few others too.
  5. I use a Garmin Quest2 with City Select to direct me to the cache, find a parking spot then use a Garmin 60CSX to point me right to the cache. I use cachmates and my PDA to go paperless. Works great for me!
  6. I live in a ver Urban area and finding places to hide caches is sometimes difficult. We have alot of mico caches in the area, 35mm film, match containers, etc. as you would expect living in a major city. I've placed a few micro's out in the field and I try to give them alittle different spin. Here is one I just finished up. It's a WalMart waterproof match container (88 cents) but it's attached so something much different. I'll have to find a good hiding place and name for this one...but the GeoCache Gods come to mind
  7. I could see that comin' a mile away!!
  8. Bold was added by me. No pointy thing was used in order to hide the cache. A pointy thing (if you call a flat shovel pointy) was used to dig a hole that had absolutely nothing to do with geocaching in the least bit. I made use of a pre-existing man-dug hole. I'm not trying to cover anything up that is wrong. If using a perfectly good hole is against the rules then I await the say so from a reviewer and will be more than happy to move the cache. No problem, no questions asked. I agree with your post Adrenalynn, end of dicussion (if it were up to me anyway ). Thanks for placing that ammo can in that great big nasty hole. I might have tripped in it when I visit that area, then I would have to sue the Land Manager, who would have to close the park, then nobody would be able to enjoy that park. You did everybody a favor!!!!!!!!
  9. Yup I have a family, kids all all grown and out of the house. I'm usually ready for bed on Friday nite by 10:00 PM. I'm retired from the Military (Air Force) and will retire from my day job (Aerospace Enginner) in about 10 months. I've been getting up early all of my life. I couldn't sleep in if you paid me! (Well, we can talk about that!) My British Sports cars are my other hobby. You just have to keep moving!! I get to wake up in only 8 more hours and get ready for work!
  10. I only cache on Saturday and Sunday. Each day I wake up at 3:30 AM, put on the coffee pot and boot up the computer. I have my PQ run on Friday so I load the zip file into GSAK. Sort the caches by closest to home. Then I run the GSAK filter of "show me the caches that have the last 2 as DNF. I delete those. I quickly review the top ten or so closest to my house, tick them off and load them to my Garmin 60CSX. Update the PDA with cachemates. Have a coffee,,,,,,yawn, more coffee, yawn some more,,,,take a shower, more coffee (no more yawning by now) get the geocaching gear on my belt, grap the hat, walking stick, camera, pda, the Quest2 (gotta know how to drive to the cache!), the 60CSX, the trade bag and CYA!!! Out of the house by about 6:30 AM to beat the traffic and the heat! Usually home by 11:00 or 12:00 noon, tired and ready for a nap. I do it all over again the next day. What could be more fun!!!
  11. Let's not forget the "colour screen" on their GPS... I'm sure they will Cheque the forum often I love my Brit friends, I even drive their cars!
  12. In addition to all of the good suggestions above, keep in mind that because each cache will have to be approved seperately it could be over somewhat of a long period of time before all 64 get reviewed and approved. A very ambitious project indeed!
  13. I use the 2500ma NiMH batteries with my 60cx. A fully charged set lasts at least 15 hrs for me. I have the back light set to turn off after 1 minute. I keep 4 charged and 4 in the charger. If your ever out and don't have any charged then just buy a set of Alkaline. Much more econimal to get the rechargeable ones. I use the energizer 2500 Ma with the 15 min charger in my 60 CSX. They work great, last a very long time and if you need fresh batteries there ready to go in just 15 min! It comes with an adapter for your car so you can keep your batteries fresh while out caching. I picked mine up at Target.
  14. You've just made your eleventh post and that took the tadpole away. Your now an official GeoCacher
  15. Well you came to the right place. Alot of folks here are really good at this. Here is a link from the Garmin web page that might help you; http://www.garmin.com/support/faqs/faq.jsp?faq=75 A waypoint is a point on the earth that you "Mark" wtih your GPSr that you want to return to. Example: The front porch of your house would be a waypoint that you mark as your home location so that you can always navigate back to it. When somebody that hides a caches marks the location of their hide as a waypoint on their GPSr then record it on this site is how we the "finders" navigate to it. It's really not that complicated. Read the link that I gave you and read your manual and keep reading this forum and soon you'll be out caching! I'm not to far from you, I'm in Lynwood, near the 710 105 area. Welcome aboard!!!!
  16. Well Adrian said it perfectly! Follow those directions and you'll get the results your wanting.

  19. Don't get me wrong, I'm not crazy about the recent increase in the price of gasoline. My vehicle holds about 14 gal. The cost increase from $2.00/gal to $3.00/gal would cost me an additional $14.00 to fill my gas tank. The recent increase of gas in my area of Southern California has gone up about .30 cents/gal in the last few weeks. That is an increase of $4.20 to fill er up. Thats not going to stop me from doing anything, especially geocaching. Lets get out and find some more!
