  1. L.O.S.T.hoomdorm quote: smuggling the drones themselves into our country. It was stated that they were taking them apart into such small pieces that there was no way to tell the pieces were part of an actual drone. So the Iraqi's are smuggling drones into the country and reassembling them with duct tape?? Is this REALLY that effective? I've heard it called 100 mph tape but c'mon.... When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  2. I've got the laptop, meridian, inverter setup. I use Delorme Topo 4.0 and Street Atlas. It tracks in real time and is a real timesaver. Last weekend I was hunting a cache way out in a national forest and had forgotten the connecting cable for the meridian. I kept having to pull over to figure out where I was, and navigating roads on the GPS was a nightmare. What should have taken a few hours turned into 4 or 5. Its just TOO COOL to look over and see exactly where you are. I'd even considered buying a USB receiver to plug into the laptop full time but the meridian works fine and is simple to attach. Only problem is you run out of places to plug stuff in! When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  3. I became a charter because of the added features. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.

L.O.S.T.hoomdorm quote: said about war or duct tape and it's really So, you are saying we can win this war with drones and duct tape? Do you think the silver or the black would be more effective? Just to be safe I'm loading up on silver. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  5. Ozarks Mini-cache 2 This one doesnt look real hard until you get to the site and theres 1000's of places to hide it. I'll admit luck played a big part in finding it. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  6. Whats the name of the file its downloading? Does it have .loc or .asp extension? Sometimes if you choose "save the file" it will download an .asp file which is not what you want. Try to "open the file from current location" then if another window opens then choose "save the file." What you are trying to get is a .loc file. Hope this helps When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  7. Just this a.m. I saw a thing about how singles are getting out of the bars and going on singles adventure weekends and things like that. I don't see anything wrong or cheap about that, so whats the prob with a geosingles forum? When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  8. But I'm not in a rush to do it. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  9. Reminds me of a micro that was a weighted film can in a fountain in Paris. I didnt actually get to go log it but it was talked about in the forums last year. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  10. Theres a guy in southern Missouri that goes by username of Butch that does a few X-treme caches. I hunted one of them and posted my first DNF. I wasnt willing to lean out (alone) over a 100ft drop to grab the cache. I do plan on returning with assistance to snag it. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  11. Arbugman: I was kidding and referring to an earlier thread about tourist caches. Feral Caches: WOW! To be mentioned in the same sentence as Markwell, I have arrived! When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  12. I really have to hand it to him, I know some of the territory he's had to deal with. The mountains aint real high but the valleys sure are deep. I hope we arent jinxing him... is there a backup 1/1 just in case? When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  13. Its kind of like dumping unwanted pets out in the woods. It either learns to survive on its own or it dies from neglect. Survival of the fittest. Either way its not our problem. On to the next topic. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  14. I'm a part time fly fishing guide and I use it to help me time my float trips. Not really necessary though as I've done the trips so many times. It does come in really usefull when I'm looking for new floats to do. Full time job is a home builder. I mark all the jobs and use Delorme topo and terraserver to: show homeowners where their house is. Print maps for the subcontractors Accurately predict sunrise and sunsets and how they relate to windows in the home. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  15. Seems like something smaller would appeal on a local level. Possibly one of the organized groups would do it in their area. I used to fish in smaller buddy bass tournaments where our $30 entry fee was thrown into a pot and 100% paid to the winner. This was great for awhile but it kept growing. Last time we did it there were 40 boats. We just wanted to fish, not organize a full blown tournament. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  16. quote: What you can and cannot upload into a GPS, what the actual function of FUGAWA and OziExplorer are, what maps/software they use, and why You can only upload Mapsend products to your Magellan GPS. The debate is still on as to how accurate they are, but its the only game in town. The basemaps that are built in seem to be major roads, I didn't mess with them I uploaded topo from Mapsend immediatly. The other products you mention are stand alone mapping software that will communicate with your GPS to handle waypoints, routes and track logs. I have a Meridian green with a 64 meg card. I can carry all of arkansas and most of missouri from Mapsend Topo right in the unit. I also have a 200 mhz laptop that I have Delorme 3D Topo 4.0 and Street Atlas 2002 that I carry. It communicates to my gps in realtime and will show my position and heading on the laptop screen. Its really nice to pull up to a cache site and look the terrain over in a 3d topo map before heading out. Theres other applications like EasyGps that I use to load the waypoints I get from Geocaching into my Greenie. Also several others that I havent tried. Hope this helps..... 21. quote: Actualy this has been a good thread for me. I thought the idea had some merit, and I still do. What I have realised though is the vocal audience here is of a differnt ilk. I have found a place where folks dig it, in fact are doing it, so we will see what comes of it. Its not so much about bad ideas, just bad audiences- Live and learn. AS for the whole idea of sharing, might I suggest a quick look at the following places where "giving it away" is the way things work, and work well. Any of these places giving away clues? Because you are SORELY in need of one.... When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.

  25. I prefer these styrofoam thingys that to-go meals come in. Most have a really neat locking tab to help seal out the elements. Plus you can fling em like a frisbee so you don't even have to stop to place it. Now thats what I call cachin! When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
