  1. An old arkie remedy for chigger bites. Douse em down with bleach 2 or 3 times and they'll dry up within 24 hours. Burns a little when you put it on but itching stops pretty soon. I work/live in the country and chiggers are very common and this is pretty much the local remedy. Chigarid is fine if you get one or two in a "private area" but for multiple bites you cannot beat Clorox. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  2. They can have my GPSr when they pry my cold, dead fingers off of it. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  3. I know of one cache in L.R. thats placed right in the middle of the local cruise park. This has been going on for YEARS. Cops run em off and a few months later they come back. They seem to jump from park to park. I just ignore the cache... When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  4. quote: Garmin could add, software wise, to the GPS V. The idea was they remove the fishing calc and other useless features Hey! Glad you didnt suggest that to Magellan. I use mine! I dont actually go by it for times when to fish but just as to how we did that day and when was the action the fastest. Believe it or not but the info contained is fairly accurate. Its all based on solunar tables and attempts to judge when wildlife will be more active. Other variables come into play including cloud cover and barometric pressure so its not 100% dead on. I also use the built in solunar tables in my work so hands off those too. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  5. But I did see someone at work with one of the Crystal Light drink containers and asked if I could have it. Also been collecting those glass cigar tubes from a buddy who smokes em. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  6. Land ownership is public record and can be found at the counties courthouse. Depending on how helpful they are you might be able to point at a map and they'll tell you, if you go though, gather all the info you can, including address to the nearest buildings and intersecting roads. Good luck, looks like you found a neat spot. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  7. Click me[/url. I own 3 crafts of this type. Weighs less than 70 lbs, floats in 2 or 3 inches of water, carry enough gear to outfit a small boy scout troop, is stable enough to stand on and is like floating in a high performance lawn chair. Though it doesnt go real fast, (4.0 mph top speed for me) its EASY to row. Handles anything from a lake to class III whitewater. Plus they pack down to about the size of a large suitcase. Several different manufacturers to choose from like Water skeeter, Outcast, DaveScaddenpontooncraft, Creek and a few others. I've got Outcasts and a Scadden. Best prices on them are at places like BassPro and Cabellas but alot of fly fishing shops offer them too (pricey). I'd highly recommend this type of boat for anything inshore. Any questions email me. 8. My Meridian has been in the drink once. Popped off the seat of my drift boat and into the river. It floated, but wasnt in the river for more than a minute. I have also left it out in the boat during a light rain and no ill effects. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  9. I've gotten in the habit of copying to the clipboard before I hit submit. The back button will take you back to a blank form... When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  10. Please stand up. IMO, if the approvers wish to remain anonymous then thats their choice. If it were me I'd choose anominity. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  11. My first GPS. I like/use the mapping feature and the solunar tables are useful to me too. Recently had a few bux burning a hole in my pocket and started looking to upgrade. After perusing Garmins and other Magellans decided that there wasnt any reason for me to upgrade. I've been eying an altimeter/barometer compass fob thingy at REI instead. Probably will wait for the new Meridian color to drop in price and then get that. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  12. quote: Fry's all have a big sign at the front door, referred to in Texas as the 30.06 law, stating you may not carry a gun in thier store. All the restaurants, bars and C stores in TX that serve/sell alcohol have similar policy. Do you avoid these places too? Its been awhile since I lived in Houston but seems like I remember seeing that on lots of doors. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  13. I checked street atlas 2000 and they have listings for garmin, magellan, trimble, brunton and lowrance. Also they have a radio shak model, rockwell and a generic NMEA. As long as your unit supports NMEA it should work. I'd like to be able to tell you exactly what NMEA is but the best I can do is tell you its a standard communication protocol for GPS devices. 15. quote: I am the Cache Police and I am watching all of you! This is one cop I'd run from. How hard would it be to outrun a guy wearing high heels? When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  16. Seems alot like a travel bug but without the fun of the travels map or distance traveled. The one I've encountered had been in my nearest list for months yet its alleged to be in New Orleans for a month according to the logs. Plus it got passed off to 2 other cachers with no coordinates update. I went looking for it once and of course it was gone. No biggie but I'll think twice before going out of my way to get one in the future. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  17. I can carry all of arkansas and missouri on a 64 meg card with space leftover for storing waypoints and tracks. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  18. If you dont want to help, don't read the forum. For Librac quote: When I got my Meridian I didn't get a manual with it... That's one reason why I have been lurking here... Trying to learn... The manuals on the CD in PDF format. If you didnt get it you can download it at magellengps. That was the only thing I didnt like about my merigreen. A device made to be used outside with a manual you can only read inside..... When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  19. How about calling them, "watertight metal boxes generally found in army surplus stores." Recently there was a policy made in the Arkansas state parks about caching. In short, they wanted clear containers. In my letter to them I used that exact phrase hoping it sounded less threatening than ammo can. Due to the number of cachers present and written comments presented at the meeting, it worked out in our favor and ammo cans are OK in AR SPs. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  20. You could start by posting a message in the southwest forums. Or search nearby caches and see who's placing and finding them. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.

  22. Maybe its with your travel bug? Sorry, couldnt resist... I would imagine that its due to being a duplicate topic and posted in the wrong area, just a guess though. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  23. If you decide to do it, at the very minimum get the sturdiest container you can find, and do a good job of hiding it to avoid it getting plundered. I read the other thread and I happen to live in an area with several tourist caches. Ones got 3 no finds, was placed in tupperware, 5 feet off a trail on a golf course. I think its missing but having never found it, I could be wrong, the owner is aware of it but theres nothing he can do about it. Its no big deal, but its annoying to me to be at the top of my list every week. Just like anything else, theres a right way to do it. Put in a little thought and effort and you can probably do a really nice cache. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  24. For me, winter is cache season. Last thing I want to do in the summer is crash around in the underbrush looking for ticks, chiggers, snakes and spiders. I quit for about 4 months then started again. Probably do the same next summer. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
  25. Widbey, quote: I’m going with cammo. That way when I pull it off the windows I can reuse it on new cache containers. I don't know what the big deal is, every fall around here dang near everbody puts visqueen and duct tape over their winders. Its a sure sign of spring when the tape starts to come unstuck and the plastic cracks. Next thing you know the jonquils start blooming. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's.
