  1. after hours of searching I found my Tungsten PDA is not compatible with Windows Vista and it will never be updated. Had to get a new PDA.
  2. I have TB's that were taken from my cache and not logged. How do I remove them from the log and mark them missing? The only choices I see are if I were to remove them to move them on. They are gone!
  3. I used Barkeepers Friend, a few drops of water, and my thumb. Worked great. Now my thimb shines too.
  4. Yes, but it may vary by GPS brand and/or model. Most Garmins will show the letter D on the strength bar for a satellite to indicate it has received differential data for that bird. Thanks! I will watch for that. I searched the manual and all I found was if you turn on WAAS your battery life is shorter.
  5. How do you know if it is working with WAAS? Is there a way to tell if it is picking up the WAAS signal?
  6. I had a job to do and could not avoid poison ivy. A doctor sugested "tincture of poison ivy" which some drug stores had.It was poison ivy juice disolved in alcohol. Three drops in water every day. It worked! Had poison oak once, it was serious. Doctor had to treat it.
  7. I want to carry small zip lock bags for wet micros. Does anyone have a source? All I find are too big.
  8. You can download and print an excellent brochure from: http://www.geocacher-u.com/resources/brochure.html I carry several and hand them out when people ask what I am doing! If you needed to explain geocaching to someone who has never heard of it in a very limited amount of time (such as on an elevator ride), how would you do it? What would you say? many thanks - Jeannette
  9. I brought a TB from the Gulf Coast to Wisconsin, photographed it by a famous observatory, and placed it in a TB motel well hidden by a rest area on the I94. Two days later both north and south motels were cleaned out and the TB's never seen again. It would have been impossible for someone to stumble on them.
  10. When first starting I had some DNF's and was about to give up until I found a lamp skirt one. Yes, if you get too skilled for one avoid them. They have a purpose. Remember many are just looking for their first find every day. Lets help them get started.
  11. Well said! If I had read some of the forum posts before buying my GPSr I never would have spent the money. I do enjoy Geocaching and I have never met a cache that I did not like.
  12. If I had seen the forum before starting I would not have started. Many put down the caches that helped me get started, lamp posts for example. Early DNF's would have caused me to give up. If people are bored with what they see then they should quit geocaching.
  13. Have you noticed some caches are marked for those in wheel chairs? May I suggest you also obtain a walking stick? Some install a hook on the end to probe dark dens. A mirror can be clamped to the end to see inside and under. I find it is a wonderful assistant helping access on the hills, in the bush and safely probing for the cache. Have fun, it is a wonderful healthy hobby.
  14. I carry spare logs (regular and small), small plastic bags, and pencils. I frequently find micro caches with logs reduced to paper pulp. Many cache owners have a long trip to maintain their cache so I help when needed and notify them. We are in this for fun, lets help each other when we can!
  15. I am not interested in swag. Fun is in finding and signing the log. It bothers me to see members complaining about cheap swag. Things to make it fun for kids is great, I enjoy the search.
  16. Forget the reply, I found the very nice log sheets. I found Bison tubes! Thanks. Terrycove Alabama and Wisconsin
  17. Thanks for the interesting web page. I could not find the link for the log.
  18. Thank you. I wanted to carry micro log sheets along so I can insert a new blank log when I find one that is full. I searched everywhere, all the search terms I could think of without success.
