  1. I had a cache that started with one container that had a spool of paracord going up into the trees, attached at the other end of the line to the actual log container/swag. The first container had weights in it to keep the second container up in the trees. There was a note in the first one saying that you needed to follow the line. Still, someone complained there was no swag (in the first container), and when I archived it I found the counterweights had been taken...who would think that a block of metal was swag, and not have the curiosity to follow a line up into the trees? I also put pencils in every hide I placed, and it is amazing how often they go missing.
  2. I built this as a series - Air, Fire, Earth, Water, Life. The lids are wood blocks attached to Lock&Locks, with carved alabaster for the element 'runes'. Under each lid, a number can be found to locate the 'Life' final Mystery (the one in the middle). I never got around to hiding them, and instead donated them to another local player to place. Someday I'll get to find my own containers - it's a win-win! 😎
  3. Just retired this one. It was filled with 'treasure' like that as well. Kids love the stuff.
  4. I came across one that I couldn't sign because I didn't have tweezers with me. It was a FTF, so I contacted the CO to clarify permission for logging it, and was approved. It was also a micro/nano listed as 'Small'. Size your hides properly before publishing, folks! 🤞
  5. Oh. My. God. This is far and away the funniest Subject Title I have ever seen in these forums! 👍 My first thought was 'Well, is the cache refrigerated at least?' 🤣 But seriously, if the spider is dried, clean, and odor-free it probably wouldn't be much different than sticking a plastic spider prop in your cache. I've placed a few caches, and honestly I think if you put this into your hide it will probably end up being stolen. I'd go with a replica spider myself. Best of luck with your new hide!
  6. Forget search issues; I've completely given up on placing new hides these days.
  7. If you’re looking up a Player that has a large number of Hides, you can expect the oldest ones to have more Archived than the newer, Active ones. The site used to list newest Hides first, but that seems to have been reversed. I understand that we can re-sort by clicking on the Placed On column twice, but this seems counter-intuitive for what would be the most useful default view for players. The 'View all Finds' for a player still lists from most recent down.
  8. Kids are the best and most enthusiastic hunters in the game! That's why I always try to stock lots of shiny bits of 'treasure' when I hide or visit a cache. Thank you for encouraging the next generation of players! 👍
  9. I agree they are always out there, but there are certainly times, especially in the Spring thaw, when they just seem to be everywhere!
  10. The gaiters I wear are Permethrin treated. Lyme-Eze or something was the brand name. Still found one of the little buggers crawling on my hand on the drive home.
  11. I did a maintenance check here in SW Connecticut (it was muggled - bummer). Not even 10 minutes from parking to GZ, with the hide mere feet from the trail in no overgrowth. The amount of deer ticks that tried to hitch a ride was NUTS, and I Deet up and wear gaitors this time of year. Be careful out there - speaking from experience, you don't ever want to pick up a tick-borne illness from these bad critters!
  12. Yeah, when I signed up 'Lostboy' was already taken. I now see that the owner has not been active much since 2001. Kinda regret aging myself by putting my Birth year in my handle when I could have just gone with 'Lostboy12345', but there you go....
  13. My half of the hides in that series have been transferred to The Ax, so Sir Sagramore will carry on. Thanks for your logs!
  14. I am archiving this hide. If anyone is interested in the container to re-use it, message me and I'll send it to you for the cost of shipping.
  15. I've decided to take some time off from the game. Here are the finished containers - they have not seen a day in the woods yet. If anyone would like them, I will give the set away for the cost of shipping. Message me if interested.
  16. Maybe a corrupt background image? If it is something you downloaded, maybe get another copy? Any odd characters in the file name of the image? Try a rename if so, perhaps.
  17. I admit I'm weak, and clicked on the silly Facebook-style "Which geocaching zodiac sign are you?" poll in The Logbook. I got to this point and had to take a pause.
  18. Maintenance done. Ready to hike back out, but know what? I’m keeping the Rubik’s Cube.
  19. Repack the swag and logbook, replacing the pencil (WHY do people steal pens/pencils from containers?).
