  1. This happen the UK. Major rescue as 15 treasure hunters get stuck in mud Coastguard called to rescue 15 treasure hunters who got trapped in the mud at the seaside, two were airlifted to safety A lifeboat, two helicopters, coastguard teams and a fire service hovercraft joined the rescue operation Photo: Alamy By Nicola Harley 6:45PM BST 18 Apr 2015 The coastguard had to be called out after 15 people got stuck in mud while taking part in a hi-tech seaside treasure hunt. A lifeboat, two helicopters, coastguard teams and a fire service hovercraft joined the rescue operation after eyewitnesses reported people in difficulty at Wood Spring Bay in Clevedon, North Somerset. Two of those stranded were airlifted to shore by the coastguard helicopter, 11 others were able to make their own way back and two decided to remain on scene. The group been geocaching, which uses a mobile phone signal to hunt for buried treasures. Roger Reed, senior maritime operations officer for HM Coastguard said: "The report came to us at just after midday today that 15 people were stuck in the mud and needing assistance. "We have since discovered that they were undertaking the hobby of geocaching. This was in an extremely dangerous place and we would not encourage others to search in these areas because there are complex tidal patterns and deep mud. "We would encourage all groups who are undertaking activities such as these to contact us with details of their event so that we have all of the information that we need to ensure the safety of those involved." Two motorcyclists raised the alarm at midday on Saturday after spotting the people stranded in mud. Clevedon Lifeboat attended, the coastguard helicopter from Portland, a search and rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor, the Portishead RNLI inshore lifeboat and teams from the Weston-super-Mare and Portishead Coastguard Rescue and the Somerset Fire and Rescue Firefly Hovercraft all attended the scene.
  2. I was there when the FTF was found and the owner of the drive-in pointed that they where NOT broken before. Please read the past posts. Please tell me what TOTT do you use when the cache was 40 feet up the back of the screen?
  3. There is 2x4 cross beams like studs in your house that is bolted to the steel beams that is what he broke.
  4. This cache is a magnetic altoid can. We got it when there was about 5 other cachers there was a teen went up to get it for FTF he walked up the I beams. Ah youth I am in my late 60's there was no way that I was going up there
  5. It was moved back up to about 15 to 20 ft. when I talked to Karen the first time she wanted it gone I ask if it was at a place where people did not have to climb would it be alright and she finally she yes. I was asking how can we as cachers be aware of where we placing caches on private land where nobody gets hurt this is the last we need. I'm not a lawyer but nasty things could happen I think. Thanks for all the input. I will be talking to Karen this week after doc apps. at the VA. Robert
  6. I was trying to not name her if you look back in the logs you will find that I was one of the first ones that found it I then talked to her that day. Rumble seats was after I talked to Karen and was moved by her grand son the next day.
  7. I was the one who talked to the theater owner she had no clue that it was there until we pointed out to her. This theater was built in 1960's by her father. The CO climbed the screen and broke some cross supports so he also did damage. She had her grand son use a ladder to bring it down.
  8. We have a problem a cacher came to town and put a cach on the back of a drive in movie theater screen 40 ft up. When we went to find it the owner of the theater did not know it was there. To get to it you had to climb up the I beams. There is a liability issue here. We moved it down to head height. But it moved up was up to about 20 ft. What can do about this? We have only 6 caches in town and would like to keep it but we also don’t anyone hurt. My e-mail is kc7vpj@hotmail.com Thanks
