  1. I see nifty little maps with states marked in red. As fulltime RV'ers we travel a lot...and now geocache in each state. How do I find the maps? Thanks. (And how do I edit the Title of the post when I forget to write USA?)
  2. I've released my first two TB's, but I can't seem to find the spot to watchlist them. What am I missing?
  3. I'm new to bookmarking. Just bookmarked some that I might want to do on a future trip. Now, I'm getting the emails every time they are logged (as if they were on a watchlist) and I don't really want that. Is there a way to turn off the automatic emails for bookmarks? Thanks
  4. Welcome! Be careful, your time is no longer your own. You'll have to allow extra time for any kind of outing so you can go get "just one more." You are right, the people on this forum are super-helpful
  5. I sure blew it this afternoon. Found a nice cache in a nice place, and was only the second finder. When we got home...54 miles away...I discovered that I had inadvertently carried off the brand new log. What to do? I've emailed the owner asking if I can mail it to him. I also offered to take it back to the cache, but can't go for at least a month. In my posted log I asked for someone to locate it and leave some paper. Is there anything else I can do to show my regret? Please tell me I'm not the first one to do something like this.
  6. I'm 64 (husband, too). Just started in November. I've been wondering if we were the only "seniors" out there. Glad to hear we are not. We are fulltime RV'ers so we'll be hunting in different states.
  7. Someplace on the site I saw downloadable art. Of course I can't find it when I need it. Any one know where it is??
  8. You certainly have gotten a lot of discussion going. Kudos to you for trying something different, and something you have an interest in. Do a nice job of presenting your project (maybe you can post a picture), and do use the scientific method. (Former third grade science teacher here.) Good luck. Oh! I have no pets. Is it possible that mostly pet owners will respond to your question, so they can brag about their pets?
  9. Well, it certainly was motivation for this "getting started" person, but I'll accept your expertise in forum matters.

Good job, Hukilaulau! 300 geocaches found on the eve of your first year geocaching anniversary! And thanks for introducing me to the sport!
  11. Not even a month into this and we can't go to the grocery store, church, or anywhere without checking to see if there's a cache to hunt. And then, once at home...there's the forum to read. Truly life consuming!
  12. When I see the word "Published" under the logged visits, what does that mean?
  13. Thanks, Olar. I actually was entering my password. However, I was immediately clicking the OK button instead of finishing my editing before I hit update. Your answer prompted me to go back and take another look. Caching isn't nearly as difficult as the technical stuff.
  14. I'm trying to edit my profile (new address), but it keeps going back to the same one. Even when I log out right after I do it. Help, please.
  15. Go back to the page that describes the cache you found. In the top right corner you can click "Log the cache" (or something similar). Then you can click "Found it" and write a note. Enter, and that's it. Now it will automatically be listed with your own profile as well. Good job finding a cache!!
  16. I've asked other hikers if they knew how to get to a particular trailhead when I was in an unfamiliar area. That's the kind of thing I was thinking of when I posted the question. It was last week, our second hunt, and we knew we were looking for a famous tree (in SC). Couldn't find it because, we realized later, we were way off on entering coords. So I asked a local historical buff if he knew about the tree. He knew about it but didn't know (or wouldn't tell) the exact location. Anyway, we found the tree but not the cache. I guess I'd better note the experience so that I won't "rob the cache of character and intrigue." We're still new but we're getting there.
  17. Yep, Hukilaulau, Mom taught her kids to share. Anyway, I just hope we can get good enough to collect "stuff", and then go on to Travel Bugs.
  18. OK, Moose Mob, I'll let my husband play with it until we find the next one. Thanks, everyone for your ideas.
  19. Just wondering what the feeling is about asking around for"a big tree stump in the area", or "a nearby railroad bridge" if you are having a tough search for some reason.
  20. Do you experienced types collect the treasures and keep them? Or do you use them to trade another time?
  21. Thanks, Munin, you understood my question and answered with exactly what i needed to know. I found my first cache today. You were a big help!
  22. I want to read what the information is like. I may try to enter the coordinates manually into an old gps. Is this possible?
  23. Newbie does not describe how "new" I feel. On this site I have searched for cache locations in my zip code. Then, I have checked three that I'd like to know about. But, I cannot get the info downloaded into my computer. Never mind the GPS just yet, I want to get to know the sport before I purchase one. I seem to have successfully loaded EasyGPS if that helps. What am I not doing correctly? Thanks.
