    Copy Tag

I have had messages from cache owners were flooding etc has removed the cache and therefore the trackable is lost, I know that it’s still out in the world somewhere but it’s probably under two foot of mud. I have sent out copy tags when a trackable is gone, I usually wait a few years and then I add a note on the trackable page saying that a replacement is wandering around. So far an original has never reappeared.
  2. Just downloaded this app today. Don’t know when I will get to use it.
  3. I can think of plenty of organizations that have weekly meetings: the church, and that seems to be doing quite well in terms of longevity and numbers. In my small country, after you have found all the geocaches, events are all that are left. We tend to meet up once or twice a month, but some months have had several events in them, often with different hosts, different locations, different activities, ranging from beach BBQ, kayaking, CITO, GIFF showings. Sometimes it’s the same few people, sometimes there will be several new people. my argument for events would be in some areas of the world, without events, and only a few geocachers living in the area that can place caches, geocaching would quickly run dry and be a solitary affair. We have had several service personnel that are based for 6 months or a year or two that have become very good friends and have met only through events. I think it really does depend on the geocachers, the location, and the overall purpose of events.
  4. I have to finish off my calendar, got 28 days to fill, Ma’in issue is that there are only a few cachesleft in my country that I haven’t found. Guessing I will be hosting quite a few events next year.
  5. Morning all. I'm a geocacher based in Bahrain. I’m nipping over to Egypt in a few months time, are there any active Egypt geocachers on this forum. There isn’t a Facebook group that is active.
  6. I got mine, but the event was two days ago. Maybe it takes time to arrive?
  7. I live on a relatively small island, there’s plenty of caching in and around the area, but there’s also a lot of beaches with plastic rubbish etc, one could cito every day for a year and still have plenty to do. Usually when the geocachers do a cito it’s at a place where we have events, which usually means a three hour bbq.
  8. Hi guys, anyone know if holding a CITO every week on the same time and day would fall foul of the event stacking rule? i am organizing a bunch of students to do litter picking/beach clean ups as part of a community service drive and therefore it will be a regular thing. As I know there are a few geocachers that would be interested in helping out, I thought I might double up a geocaching event with the community service people, because the more hands there are the better.
  9. I love greggs. Not overly relevant to Waymarking, but I really do love a greggs sausage roll.
  10. You can buy the stickers, or print them out for free. And you have to space them out so there can't be a dozen on a lamp post, only one.
  11. They are two different games, I doubt that waymarkers go onto munzee websites and check there. I also suspect that local tourism boards also have pictures on their websites that are 'spoilers'
  12. Geocacher first, there are some amazing caches out there, series of caches that have formed a great days walk with friends and family. Unfortunately geocaching has been plagued by boring nanos and roadside film case. Likewise Waymarking has some very interesting waymarks, and then there is the McDonald's waymarks. Each to there own really. Both are just games to pass your time.
  13. I like this as an idea, there is a former house of ill repute near my house in England, although it has now become a curry house.
  14. Great idea. Have seen them in many countries although I don't think thT there are any in Bahrain that I'm aware of.
  15. Think this has possibilities. I travel around the world abit and most counties will have something that fits into the catorgory and it's interesting, or at least I'm interested in it. Good luck with your proposal.
  16. Unless is was an american chain, that's only found in america, then that would be fine.................... But this is only a massive chain found throughout the entire of the UK, so it's not global...................
  17. Got to love a greggs sausage roll. I live in Bahrain at the moment, and when I go back to the UK I actively hunt down a greggs to get a sausage roll or pasty.
  18. On a positive note, I'm escaping the island next month and passing through a few other counties that seem a bit more active on the Waymarking front. A couple of geocachers back in England are waymarkers, although I didn't know that until I searched the map are recognized their tags.
  19. Man! What I would give to live in a country with only 4 waymarks posted!!! It would sure save on gas looking for new things to waymark! Keith The entire country is only 26 miles long, and petrol is very very cheap. This is an OUTSTANDING Waymarking opportunity for you, to share the interesting locations of your country with the world, tell its unique stories, and explore all of it at the same time Been here 4 years now, the island is fully explored. Problem with sharing locations with the world, is that i suspect that the waymarks i create will never get visited by a waymarker. Nevertheless, i plan to submit 2 or three waymarks a week.

  21. The photo goals waymarks remind me of the challenges that were set up in geocaching some years back. I was happy when they were removed.
  22. So, I have now found every waymark in my country, all 4 of them. Whilst going over the waymark categories grid I came across the bloggers waymark, which seems to be a waymark you can "find" by visiting a website whilst sat at home in an armchair. The blogging website I went to was interesting etc, and there are several of the blogs I found informative and am therefore grateful to their owners for setting them up etc. Is there a list of the categories of waymark categories can be discovered without leaving the house, or in my case the country? On a side note, as a geocacher, the idea of "finding" or "visiting" something without actually going to that location is a bit at odds with me, but as I am sure someone will point out, Waymarking isn't geocaching.
  23. Here’s the home link: Waymarking Stats Or you can find it at my Profile Page. Thanks for the link. Found it very interesting.
  24. You asked us to give input, and to be gentle. We did, and we were. We see many cachers on these forums who discover Waymarking, then come here and immediately propose categories. These enthusiastic folks get their feelings hurt when their ideas are not immediately embraced enthusiastically because the proposals are redundant, not global, over prevalent, etc. in other words -- because they do not fit the criteria for new Waymarking categories. Waymarking is a different game than geocaching. It has different rules, different goals, different standards. CACHE ownership is EASY -- CATEGORY ownership is HARD. Placing a geocache is EASY -- getting a new Waymarking category through peer review is HARD. Unsolicited advice: Play OUR game for a while. Look at some of the 1050 or so Waymarking categories and see which ones grab your interest. See which places in your hometown are not waymarked, and create waymarks for them in the appropriate category/categories (cross-posting is encouraged if something will fit into multiple categories). Or find already-posted waymarks as you go about caching. Log your visits on the already-approved waymarks. See how the game is played, and pick up on the nuances of the game. It's not like caching -- there is more to Waymarking than exploring and finding -- especially if you want to create your own waymarks. Read the forums, and see how the discussions of other new categories go -- even experienced category owners can have difficulty getting a new category idea off the ground. Get involved: Join categories as a member, and see how category management works. Maybe seek a promotion to category officer and review waymarks once you feel comfortable with that (or don't -- it took me 4 years to want to get into category management. I was having too much fun writing waymarks.) Waymarking appeals to many different kinds of people. Try it out and see if it appeals to you. It is possible to have a very fulfilling Waymarking hobby and NEVER own a category Thank you, I value your opinion
