  1. (Darn... hit 'post' too quickly.) Anyway, I checked this with FireFox and with IE7.0 -- no difference. I even had a friend try it out and he is getting the same message, so I know it's not on my end alone. Time to break out the shop vac and suck out the dusty clusters from the pictures database server, I suppose. Please fix this ASAP.
  2. When I was logging caches tonight, I found that I could not upload a picture for my log entry. It keeps giving me
  3. I got one of these today too! I'm guessing that the elf who was playing postal clerk today is going to bed covered in postmark ink. He sure was sloppy with that cancellation stamp on my envelope.
  4. Count me as surprised! I was expecting something else, so I didn't really look at the return address until I opened it and it was not what I expected - it was better! Mine's green glitter. Now I have to brush up on my elvish to try to decode the message. Very very cool coin. Perfect ending to a day filled with painting the house and, in between trips to the hardware store for supplies, trying to get the finishing touches put on some new caches in the area that some friends and I are putting out for those who may have just received new GPS toys for Christmas. The series is called 'The Twelve Days of Geocaching' and it should be fun!
  5. On the page that is used to edit a cache listing: "Report/Edit a Cache Listing" There used to be a link at the top that would take you back to viewing the listing after a successful edit (one that didn't have any errors). I can understand hiding this link as long as the user has not pressed the <Edit Listing> button and had a successful audit of the fields to prevent them from leaving the edit page and losing the change that they made just because they forgot to check the 'I agree to the Terms & Conditions' box. But after the page has been successfully edited, can we get some dynamic code that would put that 'Return to Listing' or 'View Listing' link back at the top again? On the other pages used to edit a cache: Edit Attributes and Add/Edit Waypoints, you can follow a link at the top back to the main listing again. But even here, the link back is inconsistent and the format of the top of the pages there are dissimilar - probably reflecting that these pages were added at different times in the history of the site. On the "Edit Attributes" page it's called 'View Listing': And "Edit Waypoints" page it's a link via the cache name: I recall that there used to be a link on the "Report/Edit a Cache Listing" page to go back to viewing the listing again, but it seems to have disappeared. I'd even be happy if the cache name at the top of that page was a link back to the listing's page again via a dialog box saying "Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page? You will lose any unsaved edits." (with a default button set to 'cancel').
  6. 'Twas the night before (the night before) Christmas and though the hour was late Not a mailer's left open - not even that Crake. i-Spy golden poppy and SC micro lay still All snuggled in bubblewrap, and know soon that they will Find themselves soon far, far from home. And when they are mailed, on next day break morn, Safe travels, I hope -- that they go untorn. Shuffled and stamped, handled rough by "The Man" And yet visions of new homes, imagine, I can. Just down the road some go, tho' one to Stockholm! I've enjoyed this cointest immensely! Thanks to all and to all a good night.
  7. No. (... unless you have a really good reason to take the time of someone at Groundspeak to jump through all the hoops necessary to purge your TB# from their system.)
  8. So is it remotely possible that some of those 'certain customers' have requested a refund from PayPal? Or maybe they just complained to PayPal directly about shipment issues and they want their money refunded -- so PayPal is going down the route to also try to protect you by being sure that they don't issue a refund for something that was actually delivered.... kinda "forcing" you into the Seller Protection Policy. ??? I'm worried, because I know that many people use PayPal (is there any other choice these days??) and would still need to do pre-orders in order to get the coins produced. Coins&Pins even went to the drastic measure of forcing you to agree to a long-worded policy about pre-orders that discourages complaining to PayPal about pre-order products not being shipped promptly.
  9. Well, in addition to the way that tsun mentioned, right there on their user agreement page is a (toll) phone number you could call: telephone PayPal Customer Service at (402) 935-7733 (for disputes or other customer service)... calling (402) 935-2050 from 6 AM to midnight Central Time. ... note:
  10. I'd be interested in seeing this policy somewhere on the PayPal site. I searched a bit for it this morning, but all I could find was this article: What methods of online tracking are acceptable? Which refers to their Seller Protection Policy: Which leads to paydirt: The actual Seller Protection Policy https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cm..._spp#spp-policy ... which I will not reproduce here... but you can go read it for yourself. Here's the interesting part: (my emphasis added) So, it sounds like unless you *wanted to be eligible* for this, then your method of shipping is totally up to you. I mean, it reads to me like it's really totally optional -- it's meant to protect the seller. They even say "In order to qualify for coverage under the Seller Protection Policy, you must meet the following requirements:". Searching on that page -- the legal agreement you agree to when you use PayPal -- the only other time 'ship' is mentioned is when a buyer wants to return something and they have to provide proof that they returned it in order to qualify for a dispute if their money is not returned. How is PayPal telling you otherwise, or differently interpreting this part of their policy???
  11. I agree here. Activated coins that come from personal collections and are traded here on the forums are gladly accepted. Activated coins that came out of a cache are highly shunned and frowned upon. I think that it's for that 2nd reason that TPTB don't allow coins to be de-activated. But, I agree with Team Professor X -- an unactivated coin is one with no logs and no entry in the trackable's database -- it has no description or goal -- you can't look it up -- nobody can log it -- it simply doesn't exist in their system. (Very different from an archived cache which hangs around forever.)
  12. And, since you can only quote 10 posts in one single post... to finish up: #24 And finally, 4:27pm Blackpool Tower '07 -- the final winner is Penguin#1 with a perfect 4:27:00 #25 & 26 & 27 - Favorite Original Verse(s): Crake Symbology Ant. Do it again next year??!? Please contact me through my profile : http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=9b...95-3d9b0cebb328 So that I can be sure I'm getting the right caching names to go with the mailing addresses. Thanks to all, and to all a goodnight!
  13. Well, I had time after dinner and before Scouts to get all the coins together. And we even had a bunch of fun drawing coins! BionicleMan would do a little coin dance after each drawing. All the winners here should send me a note via my profile with their mailing address. Whew! What a rush! And with no further ado, I'm happy to announce the winners: #1 5:33pm SC Micro - Satin Gold #2 6:28pm Crake Swallowtail Butterfly #3 7:23pm Mt Rushmore Benchmark (and so I start to get worried that I'm gonna give away 24 coins at this point!) 14. Seems that many people have cointest giveaways and people in other parts of the world (or even near home but on a different work shift) miss out for one reason or another. So here's my cointest rules: 1: You can post only once per hour. Say anything you want. Extra credit is given for original verse and haiku. .... 1 day passes ... 2. Cointest entry ends at exactly 20th December 2007 - 5:00:00 PM (Forum time) - just a wee bit over 24 hours from now. 2: I'll choose 24 random numbers, all between 0 and 59 (Excel spreadsheet) 3: If your post occurs in that hour on the minute that is randomly chosen you win! 4: Ties are broken by looking for the post closest to :00 seconds, based on the timestamp on my email, or, if there's a tie there too, then the post that makes me laugh the most wins. Simple? Hopefully. Could I be giving away 24 coins? Yes. What coins do you get? Something from my trader list -- also randomly chosen by grab-bag draw by my son. Enjoy! Edit to add: Since we have Scouts tomorrow night at the time this cointest ends, I'll have to work out the final set of random #s by printing my Excel spreadsheet when we get home. (funny thing - the numbers change every time I type something on the sheet...) Then I'll go back and figure out who won for each hour and post the results later that night. If you win, then I'll email you for getting your postal address. Coins will be drawn on Friday morning, since that's the first day of winter break for my son and he's home from school. But I have caching commitments with friends later on Friday, so I probably won't anything mailed out till Monday 12/24 or Wednesday 12/26.
  15. I'd say that I need to get in on this cointest thingy.... And by that, I mean, joining your cointest as well as figuring out how to have one of my own. -- Scott
  16. wsgaskins has not been on a Forums coin before....
  17. Put in my request... hope the email makes it to your inbox safely.
  18. It seems quite apparent that the caches are being listed in the order of their GC code # -- a rough approximation of their publication date. At least this lets you know that the ones on the top of the list will possibly have a good, well established geotrail to them and thus possibly even be easier to find. It keeps you from worrying too much about those newly listed caches, cause they could have all sorts of problems still.
  19. Loooooove it so much, I hit submit twice!
  20. Looooove it! Gotta get one of these when the opportunity presents itself. I'm really gonna have to trade, though.... but I'm thinking to dig into the 'keepers' stash for this trade.
  21. Well, one difference is silver will easily tarnish whereas nickel will not. So if your coins look like your mom's old formal flatware that she only pulls out at thanksgiving, then you've got real silver ones. But if you can touch them all day long and they only get fingerprints but no "staining" then they're probably nickel. Of course, over time, nickel will take on a foggyness that cannot be polished out.
  22. I received a mystery trade in the mail today: Toronto 2006 coin. Very nice moose! Thanks so much, mystery trade partner from Scarborough!
  23. Mine hasn't moved either. And if I'm not mistaken, yours: http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=1333263 has moved from the staring line to West Virginia, where it's sitting in someone's caching bag for 2+ weeks. What's up?
  24. Did you annouce at the event that these were suppose to travel ? Mine has been sitting in a cache for over a month . I am guessing that it is missing ? What 'cha talking about Damenace! http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=1333014 has been to Pennsylvania and then on to Mississippi where it was picked up just last week.
  25. I like 'em both. For this one, since it's not going to be a real, functional instrument, I'd say stick with the round one. For the back of the round one, maybe throw the stars on the back onto the 'celestial sphere' (proper locations, of course!) and add landmasses to the globe so that the calculated position is say, Denver Colorado.
