  1. So, I know these questions are asked all the time, so I'll add to them. We have been geocaching for a good while now with a low-end gps. So low, we can't download from our pc coordinates - they have to be entered by hand. I'm looking at upgrading to the Magellan RoadMate 1200. Its going to be at Target for $99 dollars this Friday, but I couldn't tell what all it could do. It doesn't have a USB port, but it has a SD memory card slot. Can I download coordinates through the memory card onto the gps? I have been reading, and it seems like its not the best for geocaching once you get out of the car. That is not a big deal, I will be using it for driving directions just as much as for geocaching. Is this a smart buy? Thanks
  2. Yea - come to find out it was a SnowWolf coin. Well, I think I found who owns it - waiting for an e-mail now. Does anyone know where I could get a SnowWolf coin - wouldn't mind having one. Arctic Warriors
  3. I like the idea - very creative - and that is what I like to see in a cache. As far as the community not receiving it - who cares - if they don't like it they don't have to find it. And if worse comes to worse and you have to archive it - you haven' lost much. I say make sure you include on the reviewer note that you have permission - but something on the cache page -(like has been talked about). Go for it - it would definitely be one I remembered.
  4. Thanks for your help - I appreciate it. I tried activating it and I have no activation code. So, i guess thats not it. I checked the cache page TB history pages - and had no luck. Man - it must be a ghost geocoin or something. Anyway - I'm getting with a moderator - will keep posting. Thanks again yall!! Oh yea - its a very pretty nature coin. Has a Henry David Thoreau quote on it. Very nice!
  5. Well . . . I have checked and checked and double checked - I'm puncing the right number in. I'm looking back at cache page histories - and have had no luck.

  7. A coin comes up, but it is not the same coin that I have. The coin that comes up has never been anywhere. If the owners that their coin was gone for good - could they have canceled the coin and then another coin get the number? IDK If i could just figure out who the owner is - that would help.
  8. OK - this is very embarrassing, but we were out caching several months ago and grabbed a geocoin. For some reason I didn't log that I had grabbed it and then I lost the coin. Well, I found it yesterday and went online and punched in the tracking code and what it gives me is not the coin that I have. Also, I went back to the cache I think I got it from - hoping the page would still have it there - and its gone. I feel really bad - I want to get this coin either back to its owner or back on the trail, but don't know what to do. Can anyone help? Arcticwarriors
  9. We own 4 caches and every time someone finds one we get an e-mail notifying us of the find. Well, the other day I visited one of our cache pages and noticed someone had found it - we never got an e-mail telling us about it! It's the same way with our watchlists. We have around 20 caches on it, and periodically I'll visit one of those cache pages and see logs that I never got e-mails about. We also don't get the weekly cache listing. If any else has this problem or knows what we need to do - please let us know! Arctic Warriors
  10. I don't think that if each stage of the series was an individual cache owned by a cacher in the area that it was placed we will run into any rule violations. I could be wrong, though. So far we have the USA & Australia on board. I read that there are caches in 222 countries. We only have 220 countries left to recruit. This is encouragement guys. We are undertaking a WORLD WIDE series of caches - it's going to take some to coordinate. Arctic Warriors
  11. When you get clever hiding ideas from the geocaching dream you had last night. It's happened to me!
  12. We were in Austin TX in June and found this awesome underwater cache. It was called "Spring Loaded" (GCKEPT). Take a look at the pictures - they might help with the container.
  13. James Lobb is right. We need to have a series of caches all over that still stand alone. One thing we need to figure out is where we want them. Do we want one per country or caches at awesome places. If we want one per country the USA will only have one. If we want them at awesome places, the USA might have more than one. Just something to think about.
  14. An "Amazing race" cache - the best sport (geocaching) and best reality show (Amazing Race) - can there be a better combination? I agree with the previous post, we need to start getting with other countries. Has any one done so?
  15. It morphed into fifty seperate caches with a final cache in D.C. In order ti find the one in D.C. you had to have found the ones in all fifty states. Browse through the forum topics and you will find it. It may be on page 2. Arctic Warriors
  16. Come on guys lets not let this die. The fifty -state multi cache was a success, no reason a world wide wouldn't. We just need to do some major brain storming. I'm thinking on it and as soon as I think of something I'll post. Arctic Warriors
  17. Please forgive me if I seemed to be saying your idea won't work. Where there's a will, there's a way. I just think you might need to add a little more to it. Arctic Warriors
  18. Half the fun for our family is trying to be the FTF. It is even funner when we get an e-mail at 10pm telling us that 4 new caches have come out - all within 7 miles of our house. NIGHT CACHING IS AWESOME!! Excuse our zeal. Arctic Warriors
  19. Congratulations! I earned my Eagle 2 years ago and enjoyed evry bit of it. I don't think a CITO event would go over too well sice it only helps the community temporarily - a place can always get trashed over night. My understanding of the requirements is that the project have a lasting effect. Nameless 301 suggested having events every month. I think something along those lines would be a lot better than a one afternoon event. Anyway, that's my two sense worth. Congratulations again! Keep us posted. Arctic Warriors
  20. I totally agree with 4leafclover. Some people love trying to be FTF. Us included. If you don't care when you find it, that's you. Just enjoy the game. That's what it's all about. Arctic Warriors
  21. Would be pretty awesome. I agree, there would need to be an amazing prize. However, you have to admit that not many people would complete it.
  22. It is most definately a sport!! Maybe not as big as baseball or football, but one just the same. In sports you compete and in our neck of the woods there is always a race to see who will claim the FTF. This is why I think it is a sport.
  23. Today is the first day I have even gone to the forum section. I have obviously missed a lot on the prep for this, but we live here in NE Texas and would gladly serve as a backup for the people who all ready claimed texas. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help. We live 5 miles from the interstate. Let us know
